Sorry? You couldn’t find enough items to delete, so you might like increase the disk capacity of the PlayStation 4 ? No problem. I will tell you what to do.

The easiest solution, I think, is to use a external hard drive connecting it to one of the console’s USB ports. In fact, it is a method that does not involve any particular risks and can be implemented using native functionality implemented directly on PS4.

All you have to do is connect the hard drive to one of the USB ports from the PS4, go on the route Setting; Devices; USB storage devices from the console menu, select the external disc and press the Format as extended storage memory.

Once the external disk has been properly formatted , you can put it as primary memory where the games are installed and of course move inside those that are already on the hard drive of the PlayStation 4.

For all the details of the case and the complete procedure, you can refer to my tutorial on how to increase the memory of the PS4.

In case you are a more experienced user and are not afraid to “put your hands” in the console, you could also think about replace the internal hard drive of the PlayStation 4 with a bigger one. This operation could lead to problems with the correct operation of the console, if it is performed in a non-optimal way.

In short, the choice is up to you: if you want to try to change the internal disk and get much more space, you can consult my guide on how to change the hard drives on the PS4.

What Is The Ps5s Extra Storage Space

You can view a summary of the kind of data your SSD is using by going to the Storage area of the PS5 Control panel. Games and Apps, Saved Data, Media Gallery, and Other are the areas in which they are organized. Although the first 3 are self-explanatory, the fourth can unexpectedly grow exponentially based on how you use the console.

The Harder Way: Replace The Hdd Inside Your Ps4

Another way to expand the storage of your PS4 is to replace the hard drive inside the machine. It’s not as complicated as it sounds and could be ideal if you, say, want to add a solid state drive for speedier access.

You will have to take at least part of the console apart. Sony makes it very simple for you, but you will still find the process a little long-winded. The easy part though is choosing a drive.

The PS4 uses a 2.5-inch SATA HDD, the type of which you’ll find in a laptop. However, not any old 2.5-inch drive will work. To fit a PS4 it will need to be no greater than 9.5mm in depth or it will be too big for;the hard drive enclosure drawer.

There are some out there that will meet the specifications, at around the £50 mark. We opted for a Western Digital;WD10JPVX – an older 5400RPM Blue drive with a 7mm depth which fits nicely – but there are plenty of more recent SATA III alternatives.

You can even opt for an SSD/HDD hybrid drive, such as the 1TB Seagate FireCuda gaming drive that’s;.

Some have also suggested pure SSD equivalents, which ramp up load speeds dramatically, but can be prohibitively expensive if you’re trying to increase storage rather than shrink it.
