Start Slow And Reset The Maze If You Dont Like The Monsters

God of War PS4: How Long Does It Take to Beat? | PlayStation 4

When you first start, Mifleheim’s maze mist kills you quickly and there can be some high level monsters until you upgrade your gear. So dont stray too from the start area to begin with. Clear that out, collect the chests and check the two corridors into the maze for any easy to grab chests. Itll be a slow but a much safer way to earn the echoes by repeating that until improve your equipment and, as a result, your chances when venturing deeper into the maze. While doing this, if you dont like the enemies that appears just re-enter the workshop to leave the maze and reset it.

Atreus Is The Humanity That Kratos Lost

“From a story perspective, Atreus is the humanity that Kratos lost. He’s helping Kratos understand what it was like to be a human and Kratos is trying to help the kid understand what it means to be a god. The kid has no idea about any of that stuff. They’re both sort of teaching each other a little bit and kind of helping each other hobble through a very difficult emotional journey.” -Cory Barlog, Creative Director

Atreus only knows the world that he lives in with his dad. They’ve lived in this forest, a very small area. They’re going out on the road together. Dad is just Dad. You don’t really know any different. That’s just a parameters for his life. As he starts to learn who he is, how he fits into all of this and who his dad is, it’s an interesting sort of way thathe sees life differently than we see Kratos. He allows us to see Kratos with a slightly different lens because he’s experiencing it all differently.

Scoring God of War

“My work on God of War began nearly two years ago. One rainy November afternoon, I was called into Santa Monica Studio to meet with acclaimed music producers Pete Scaturro and Keith Leary , to discuss a secret project.

Can You Speedrun God Of War

Yes, you can speedrun God of War. Doing an any% run will take you around 5-6 hours with the fastest one at just below 4 hours, while a 100% may take around 10 hours, with the fastest one clocking in at just 9 and a half hours. If this is your thing, then we wish you godspeed.

We might even see lower results this time as some players report that aiming feels much better and easier to do with the mouse and keyboard setup.

Buy Some Of Mist Armour As Soon As Possible

The God of War Niflheim Maze only really exists so you can buy its armour, or collect resources to upgrade other gear. The mist armour you can buy here is some of the best in the game and will make it easier to survive the maze, so get some as soon as you can. It has a healing effect that stacks when you match a set so dont mix and match. The Deadly Mist set is best for a good overall stat boost, while the The Endless Mist and Cursed Mist sets have a narrower improvement, favouring vitality and extra runic power respectively.

I Hope You Enjoy Spending Time With Kratos

Barlog admitted that God of War was bigger than he first claimed, but that he cant pretend that its not huge now. During his conversation with Kinda Funny Gamescast, Barlog admitted that after doing the first full test, which took five days, he and his team thought Oh, man. Alright, what have we done?

So the answer to the question, How big is God of War? is massive.

Heres hoping that the gameplay, story and exploration are engaging enough to warrant spending over 40-hours with Kratos and son.

God of War launches exclusively for PS4 on April 20, 2018.

The Entire Game Takes Place In A Single Shot Which Gives The Game A Steady Forward Rhythm

From the moment you click “New Game” on the main menu in “God of War,” you’re looking through the lens of the same camera that you’ll see when the game’s credits roll 40 to 60 hours later.

After you click “New Game,” it zooms out and the tree you see above begins getting cut down by Kratos’ axe.

And that’s how the game starts. Click R1 to chop down that tree, friend!

It’s a small novelty at the game’s onset, but it’s that same ethos that’s applied to the entire game. Whether you’re in a cutscene speaking to a Norse god, fighting a gigantic troll to the death, talking to a city-sized snake that speaks an ancient language, or simply walking around Midgard, the same camera is always with you.

There are no loading screens in “God of War.” There is no statistics screen that pops up after a fight to let you know how many enemies you killed. The entire game is one continuous experience that can only be stopped by you choosing to pause it.

It’s this complete lack of friction that spurred me to constantly pursue “one more thing” in any given play session. It’s also how I ended up playing “God of War” until the wee hours of the morning a few times, by “accident.”

God Of War: Ghost Of Sparta

Up next, players will want to play the other PSP God of War game: God of War: Ghost of Sparta. Revolving around Kratos and the relationship with his brother Deimos, Ghost of Sparta serves as a direct prequel to God of War 2 and reveals major details from the Spartans’ lineage. To complete the main story of the game, players will likely invest around 6.5 hours and will be rewarded with greater context for the next two games in the series.

How Long Does It Take To Finish The Main Story Of God Of War

God of War PS4 : How to Beat Watcher

If you just focus on completing the main story quests and nothing else, it will take you roughly around 21 hours to complete the game. For a story-driven action adventure game, that is quite average and not too long enough that it becomes a drag.

The game itself got nominated and won a couple of awards from different award-giving bodies, so you can expect that your 20+ hours of quality gameplay will be well spent.

If youre the kind of gamer who likes to learn more about the world and the story by completing the side-quests, expect another 12-20 more hours of gameplay on top of that. Thats more father and son bonding time, not bad.

Sidequests And The Main Story Require ~30

Sidequests, or Favors, are smaller quests that can be found by interacting with characters in-game. These side activities will see you travelling to new areas, sometimes forcing you into a fight against one of the Optional Bosses available.

Completing all Favors will add a conservative ~10+ Hours to your playthrough, with more hours added if you wish to explore the new areas you venture into for better loot.

How Long Does It Take To Complete The Main Storyline

If you stick to the main quests and avoid any side content, the average time to beat the main storyline is 21 to 22 hours.

If you play the game casually, balancing the story with some side quests, you can expect to beat God of War in around 30 hours. This playstyle is the best way to play the game the first time, even if you are going for the platinum.

General Tips For Beating Valkyries In God Of War

While each Valkyrie has its own unique attack patterns , there are a few things that remain constant throughout all nine fights. For starters, players should always enter the battle with a full spartan rage meter and save it for a point when they are close to death in order to fully benefit from its curative properties.

Likewise, all three runic meters should be full at the beginning of the battle and used as often as possible once things get going. The first eight fights also begin with a three or four-second window during which the Valkyries are inactive and so this is a great chance to get in some bonus damage with a heavy runic attack.

RELATED: God Of War : Easter Eggs You Might Have Missed The First Time Through

Aside from this moment, the best time to attack a Valkyrie is typically immediately after they’ve finished one of their moves or combos, although players will usually only have around two or three seconds to do so before the next attack begins. A lot of their air attacks can also be canceled by hitting them with arrows and so it’s a good idea not to spam arrows while the Valkyries are on the ground.

Finally, players should be sure to enter each fight with a resurrection stone in their possession. Some opt for the Superior stone, although the Berserkerâs stone is arguably the better choice. If used immediately after reviving, the Spartan Rage that it grants can not only refill the player’s health a little, but also deal a decent amount of damage.

It’s Incredibly Fun To Play

At its basest level, “God of War” is a fun game.

I don’t mean that to sound reductive the minute-to-minute gameplay of “God of War” is thoroughly enjoyable. Whether Kratos is taking on groups of enemies, toppling massive mythological creatures, solving puzzles, or just exploring, the simple act of playing “God of War” is a delight.

Best of all: “God of War” has that “just one more” quality shared by the best games. Maybe that’s “just one more” fight, or “just one more” objective you want to complete I found myself constantly playing “God of War” past when I’d planned to stop.

In the same way that 2017’s incredible “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” was constantly pushing players to seek out a new adventure just over the horizon, “God of War” encourages players to keep going. What’s that shiny thing in the distance? What’s down that canal? How do I get to that treasure chest?!

It’s a somewhat dangerous quality for a game to have when you’re playing it well past midnight in the middle of the week, but that’s a testament to how much pure fun it is to play “God of War.”

There’s Mystery And Adventure Around Every Corner

As hinted at above, the world of “God of War” the mythological Norse realm of Midgard is rife with mystery.

While exploring the vast expanse of Midgard, you’re extremely likely to stumble on one of the dozens of mysteries hiding around every corner. You might find a hulking dragon being held captive, or a massive, abandoned fortress full of treasures .

Most likely, you’ll find hours of your time being filled with entirely optional exploration. For instance: What’s through this crack in the wall?! You better believe I found out.

For every new area I found, another half dozen paths teased me with as yet unexplored regions. Up to and including when I finished the game, after over 50 hours of play time, I was still finding new areas. Having now completed the game, there are loads of places I’ve never been entire storylines I’ve never completed, or even begun.

It’s incredibly impressive, honestly. The level of detail is what makes Midgard feel alive, despite it’s clearly fantastical trappings.

God Of War: Ascension 8 Hours

God of War: Ascension was released on the PlayStation 3 in 2013. Its a prequel with the story being set chronologically as the first in Kratos saga. The games story is set six months after the death of his wife and child and begins with Kratos imprisonment at the hands of the Furies.

The game also introduced an online-only multiplayer which wasnt well-received by fans. Furthermore, the story wasnt quite up to par with its immediate predecessor on the home consoles God of War III. Nevertheless, the combat was still solid and the games length at 8 ½ hours seemed to be just right and didnt outstay its welcome.

As with many of the series’ other entries, Ascension features a new game plus mode, in which players can gain access to plenty of new costumes and armor sets. They’ll also be able to unlock the power of the artifacts that they’ve collected, which can grant bonuses like infinite magic, infinite rage, and reduced damage.

Is Kratos Son Really Loki

God of War PS4 : How to Beat Eir Valkyrie Fight

As far as twist endings go, the one served up by Santa Monica Studio is up there with the most memorable in all of gaming. Kratos being a closed book most of the time also feeds into the impact of the revelation, as he gives little exposition away during the game about the circumstances of how he and Laufey met.

Bank Your Mist Echoes In The Workshop Or With Sindri And Dont Get Greedy

One of Niflheims big things is that you if you die in the maze you lose everything youve collected. That can be excruciating if youre carrying ten thousand echoes and some rare resources. Basically dont get greedy and bank them when things are looking dicey. Check the map if you get lost and and retrace your steps to avoid further fights. You can also bank them in the workshop to save revisiting Sindri each time.

The Main Characters Are Actually Good As Is Their Banter

Video game characters attempting sincerity tends to not work out. Frankly speaking: Most games that make an attempt at sincerity fail.

There are exceptions of course Joel and Ellie from “The Last of Us” come to mind but those are exceptions, not the rule. “God of War,” unbelievably,” nails it.

The game’s main characters, Kratos and Atreus, are entirely believable as a father-son duo. As the duo grieve the death of the family matriarch Kratos’ wife / Atreus’ mother they have to reckon with each other.

Kratos, as he’s known to be, is a relentless dour, embittered man. He hates the Gods, expects nothing from life, and is always serious. He offers life lessons like, “If you never expect anything, you’ll never be disappointed.”

This is his resting facial expression:

That tone is delightfully contrasted by Atreus, who’s excited to explore a world he’s never seen before.

He’s fascinated by history, impressed by the amazing things he’s seeing, and excited to talk about it all . In this way, Atreus stands in for the player impressed and excited rather than over it while Kratos is putting on his usual stiff upper lip.

And that’s before we start talking about the game’s other central characters, each of which is surprisingly fleshed out and integral to the story. But you should discover them yourself rather than have me spoil them.
