There are lots of people reporting online that they have been unable to get a refund for digital copies of Cyberpunk 2077 on either PS4 and Xbox One.
Per VGC, disgruntled players have been unable to get a refund for Cyberpunk 2077 on PS4 and Xbox One despite CD Projekt REDs apology and encouragement for getting one.
While some people had success getting their money back before CD Projekt REDs apology, lots of people are now hammering Sony in particular on Twitter for not giving them their money back despite the games proven broken status.
As for why Sony are refusing refunds, lots of people have cited CD Projekt REDs promise that the game will be significantly fixed and patched by February.
This isnt ideal and its arguably wrong on the part of both Sony and Microsoft as PS4 and Xbox One users should receive a refund as they were sold a PC game without any evidence of how it runs on current/last-gen systems.
All of the above is massively disappointing as speaking from a PS5 experience the game has incredible missions and characters, as well as a visually stunning open-world despite its lack of interactivity.
While the lack of a refund isnt ideal and arguably morally wrong, hopefully the game will actually be fixed come Feburary or sooner. Also, remember that there is a free next-gen upgrade if and when youre able to get a PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Customers who took CD Projekt up on its offer to provide Cyberpunk 2077 refunds have started getting their money back and are reporting that they have not yet been asked to return the game.
Following three delays, the highly anticipated RPG released in December 2020 with a host of technical problems, most notably on last-gen consoles, which even resulted in the title being pulled from the PlayStation Store.
CD Projekt pledged to improve the overall experience via future updates, but also said customers not wanting to keep the game could opt for a refund.
Several users who chose to get their money back told Vice that they have now received a refund through PayPal but have not yet been asked to send the game back in the case of physical copies, or had their digital copy removed from their console software library.
One customer who bought the $250 Cyberpunk 2077 collectors edition said: I was surprised I didnt need to . So I still have everything. As a customer, I feel they made good on it. Just show proof and well return your money.

Sony is removing Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation Store and offering refunds to customers who bought the game for PS4 following glitches and problems with crashing on the base PS4 and Xbox One consoles.
Gamers who have been playing Cyberpunk 2077 since its release just over a fortnight ago have reported a number of bugs and errors that majorly affected the overall experience of the game.
PlayStation is well aware of the issues with Cyberpunk 2077 and how the game has been received, and in an unprecedented move, has decided to remove the game from the store.
In a statement posted on the PlayStation website, Sony said: “SIE strives to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, therefore we will begin to offer a full refund for all gamers who have purchased Cyberpunk 2077 via PlayStation Store. SIE will also be removing Cyberpunk 2077 from PlayStation Store until further notice.
“Once we have confirmed that you purchased Cyberpunk 2077 via PlayStation Store, we will begin processing your refund. Please note that completion of the refund may vary based on your payment method and financial institution.”
The Cyberpunk team responded early on Friday morning said on Twitter that all purchased digital and physical copies of the game will continue to be supported and updated as they continue to improve gamer experience and said: “We are working hard to bring Cyberpunk 2077 back to PlayStation Store as soon as possible.”

Sony had initially pushed back on the advice of developer CD Projekt Red for Cyberpunk 2077 refunds. After a bit of confusion and refusal to issue refunds, Sony announced that its now open for refunds request. This means that the game will surely become available again once CD Projekt Red sorts out the problems. Options For Consumers Who Purchased Cyberpunk 2077 Physically
In terms of physical release, well, things aren’t exactly as cut-and-dry compared to digital purchases. On December 18, CD Projekt Red established a unique helpline to assist with retail copy refunds. However, CDPR will only be fulfilling requests emailed through that line by the end of today, December 21. CDPR has made no additional statement about extending that proprietary refund window, only that it’s “a one-time initiative” meant for those who cannot refund through physical stores. Beyond today, the onus may solely be on the retailer where the game was purchased to fulfill refunds.
Some retailers have even specified that full refunds will be issued for Cyberpunk 2077 due to the circumstances. In a forum on the Best Buy website, the electronics retailer explained that Best Buy would fulfill Cyberpunk 2077 refunds in several categories: PS4, Xbox One, Collector’s Editions, and Xbox One Digital codes purchased through Best Buy. PlayStation digital refunds, if purchased through Best Buy, are still to go to the PlayStation Store to request a refund. This extension in return policy is also only valid through today, December 21, and Best Buy will return to its normal Return & Exchange Promise policy after today.
