Then make sure all the images are located in a folder named ‘IMAGES’, which allows your PS4 to recognise them.

How To Turn Ps4 Screenshots Into Wallpaper
Theres alternative methods too. You can use screenshots from in-game and turn them into backgrounds.
Take a screenshot of your PS4 game by using the PS4 Share button.
Go to Settings > Themes > Custom Themes on your PS4.
Your screenshot will be saved in the Capture Gallery, so simply choose the screenshot your want to set as your theme.
Fine Tune The Ui To Match
Once you’ve set your image, you’ll be taken back to the ‘Custom’ screen. There are two more options for you to take a look at. The first is a checkbox labelled ‘Make Function Area Dim’. When active, this will overlay a subtle gradient behind the very top icons on the main menu, making them easier to read depending on your background. If you’re using a light or colourful image, you should probably keep this on.
The last option is ‘Select Colour’, which sets the colour for parts of the UI where the wallpaper isn’t shown. You can leave it as the default blue, or choose a colour that best matches your selected background.

Hacking Creating Own Permanent Theme
Thank you. I had created a few customs and whenever i shut off the ps4 it would revert to generic theme due to it not being a permanent theme. I guess you need to have a license associated with a theme to make it permanent.
Can’t make our own ones permanent yet. I found this out a while ago which was extremely disappointing. But I was wondering. Couldn’t we open up a permanent theme and edit that? Surely changes would apply. But not sure how it would work out if it’s even possible
I was wondering the same thing. I was able to extract the licensing pkg from a permanent theme, but I haven’t had much time to delve into the details. I am not the best at tinkering with these files and I’m guessing it may be more difficult than one may think, otherwise probably would have been created by now.

Lets get creative! The last article I touched on was how to install already made NX themes on your Nintendo Switch. But how would you like to create your own theme? In this tutorial, I will be covering on how to create themes for your Nintendo Switch!
First things first we will have to grab images that are in 1280×720 format, If not you can always resize them in paint or any other program on your PC.
So to complete this task this is what we are going to need:
1. Six images that are in 1280×720 format.
2. Switch theme injector, make sure you transfer the nro to the switch folder.
3. A folder called themes at the root of your memory card
4. A switch with CFW.
We are first going to start out getting Six images, thats right Six images! There are Seven screens but the news screen we are going to leave out since that part will require internet access anyway. The Six screens that we are going to be editing are the Homescreen, Lockscreen, Userpage, allappsmenu, Settingsapplet, andplayerselect. Also, it will be good to name these images to each of the screens you will be using. Like for example and so on. Once we grab those images we will want to make sure they are converted to 1280×720. This should be the second step after you grab the Six images you want, these images can be in jpeg format or png.
Select And Set Your Image
Within the ‘Custom’ option, hit ‘Select Image’ and, provided your USB device is plugged in, you’ll be able to select ‘USB Storage Device’. This will then bring up any images you saved to the ‘IMAGES’ folder on your USB device. Select your favoured picture.
The PS4 will now ask if you want to crop your image. You can do this by zooming in with the right analogue stick and move the whole image with the left stick. Once you’re happy with the position of your image, press X to confirm.
