In general, we would say that the earlier you can get your hands on Sony’s next-generation console the better. We don’t know what stock is going to look like for the next few months so the sooner your delivery date the better.
However, if you’re after bundle deals and can hold off, you might want to think about buying PS5 when stock settles down further into the new year.

This new PS5 bundle will only be available to buy for PowerUp Pro Rewards members. Today’s PS5 restock is now live at GameStop. Rumours were flying around since Wednesday that the specialist retailer was preparing for its first PS5 restock in 2022. Now, a new PS5 bundle has appeared online, which is exactly what’s on sale now.
It’s not a cheap one, though. The bundle in question is a PS5 with Call of Duty: Vanguard, DualSense Controller , 12-Month PS Plus Membership and a $50 GameStop Gift Card. All of this will set you back $743.97.
When Will You Be Able To Buy Ps5
The PS5 is currently out of stock at most retailers but PS5 restocks have been popping up over the last few weeks, with the Sony Direct queue and Target offering more chances to buy PS5 in the US and over in the UK rumors are spinning of a massive PS5 restock hitting over January.

Should You Buy Ps5 Or Ps5 Digital Edition
You can buy one of two version of the PS5 today – the standard disk version, or the Digital Edition. The former allows you to play your physical PS4 and PS5 games, however you can still access your downloaded PS4 titles on the Digital Edition as well.
The cheaper £359 PS5 Digital Edition doesn’t have a disk drive, but still runs the same specs as the full fat console. That means you can buy PS5 for less today and you’ll still be running the latest tech from Sony.
However, there’s only 825GB in this SSD and that’s going to fill up quickly, provided you don’t grab an external HDD for your PS4 games. If you’ve got a substantial physical collection already then it might be worth upgrading to the main console.
That said, it’s difficult to buy PS5 either way right now, with launch seeing an incredibly limited number of consoles hitting the shelves. While we wouldn’t necessarily advise settling for the console you can get , if you’re set on buying PS5 today you might have to take what you find.

The Sony PlayStation 5 console is still hard to find, and you can thank the pandemic-induced global chip shortage — and increased demand for the PS5 and other electronics — for that.
Luckily PS5 restocks seem to be much more common place — or, at least, they will be. Both Best Buy and Walmart had them in February. And now rumors point to imminent restocks at Best Buy, GameStop and Target. Meanwhile, Amazon’s PS5 page reveals that more units are coming on or before March 31. It’s possible that Amazon may not give advance notice on that PS5 drop, so you’ll want to check stock there frequently throughout the month — you might get really lucky.
Bear in mind that will be given priority during this month’s PS5 drop. This is becoming more common. The PS5 is in such high demand that just about every retailer is using it as an angle to sell a premium subscription service. Best Buy gave its Best Buy Totaltech members priority access during its February restock. Similarly, Walmart gave paid Walmart+ members exclusive access to its latest PS5 drop. So, if you want a higher chance of securing a PlayStation 5 console, your best bet these days might be to sign up for one of these services.

It seems like the PS5 is always out of stock, especially because stock of the Sony console has been so light in February 2022. Theres no sign that this is going to change in the coming weeks. Ps5 Restock Latest News And Rumors
Christmas is just days away, which means we’re now entering the last-chance saloon if you want a PS5 console for holiday gifting. GameStop will be holding an in-store PS5 restock on Thursday, December 23. The console will only be available in bundles and you may need to be a PowerUp Reward Pro member to purchase a console.
Meanwhile, if you want to increase your odds of getting hold of a PS5 before the end of the year, then make sure to sign up for Sony’s invite-only PS5 restock registration. You won’t be guaranteed a console, but it’s a great way to get your email into the mix and potentially be selected to participate in future Sony Direct drops.
An interesting restock-related tidbit has been uncovered recently. It looks like US lawmakers are once again attempting to ban the use of scalper bots. This could have a seriously positive impact on the availability of PS5 restocks, although pushes for similar laws in the past have ultimately been unfruitful. Hopefully, this time it sticks and scalpers ruining restocks becomes a problem of the past.
The PS5 could become an even more desirable console next year, as Sony is reportedly launching Project Spartacus to directly challenge Xbox Game Pass. The new service would combine PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now and grant PlayStation owners access to a library of classic and modern games for a monthly subscription fee.

There are currently two iterations of the PS5: the PS5 and the PS5 Digital Edition . There is very little difference between the two the Digital Edition just lacks the ability to play disc-based games. Both models still feature the same 825GB SSD, CPU, and GPU. There are some more granular differences, like power draw, but there is very little separating the two consoles. Given that the Digital Edition lacks a disc drive, its a little smaller and lighter than the $499.99 model.

A Walmart Plus subscription was required to access, but if you had that it seemed like this was a larger than usual PS5 restock. It’s Still Not Easy To Get A Ps5 But Things Are Looking Up
It’s been over a year since the first wave of PS5 preorders went live and while PS5 is steadily climbing the US sales charts, it doesn’t seem like the console is any easier to get now than it was that fateful September day in 2020. When they initially went live, it was, without a doubt, a complete and total disaster for all involved. Servers across the internet were ill prepared to handle the massive load thrust upon them, and the process was plagued with time-outs, broken links, and most of all, heartbreak.
A year later and things are… marginally better. Most major retailers have now put anti-scalping measures in place, from requiring membership to more behind-the-scenes checks and balances. GameStop and Walmart have been announcing drops ahead of time, with Walmart portioning them out over the course of a few hours.
But you still cannot walk into a major retailer and grab one off the shelf. With chip shortages and the supply-chain ripples, it could be a while before we see any new consoles in actual brick-and-mortar stores, but things are marginally better than they were. However, the advice offered below remains true, in spite of the fact it was originally written for the preorder wave ahead of last year’s PS5 launch.
Ps5 Digital Edition Price
The PS5 Digital Edition price is $399 , $100 more expensive than Microsoft’s own Xbox Series S price but we are talking about the full power of the PS5 here. That means Sony’s $100 discount is actually getting you a lot further than Microsoft’s $200 saving. Whether this is enough to sway the budget market towards Sony, however, remains to be seen.
The PS5 Digital Edition price, then, comes in at a similar position to the PS4 Pro now, which makes sense if you’re looking to get into the Sony ecosystem for the first time here. However, if you’re looking to make use of the PS5’s backwards compatibility, you will have to factor in the cost of rebuying your physical PS4 games. If you’ve already amassed a collection, then, it’s worth picking up the full console and taking advantage of Sony’s PS5 upgrade system.
However, if you have PS Plus membership, you’ll be able to take advantage of the PlayStation Plus Collection. PS5 owners can download and play a massive selection of PS4 exclusive titles with full PS5 upgrades from launch, from Uncharted 4 to The Last of Us Remastered, Ratchet and Clank to Bloodborne and God of War. So, if you’re a PS Plus subscriber you’ll be able to play all those golden oldies with your membership anyway.

How To Buy Digital Ps5 Games As Gifts
You cant directly buy a digital copy of a PS5 game for a friend as a gift. So if your friend has the Digital Edition PS5 then youre left with really one option. Youll have to gift them a PlayStation Store gift card so they can load up on PSN money and then buy the game on their console themselves.
While it used to be possible to gift games on PSN to others, just like you can do on Steam for PC titles, Sony no longer allows this practice. And theres no telling if it will ever bring it back.
If you want them to have a game or two, and not just currency for their PSN account, then your other option is to buy physical copies of games. Though, this only really goes for people who have the Disc Edition of the console .
Still, if they do have the Disc Edition, this is going to be your only way to gift actual games. You do have other gifting options though.
