PSN License Issue And How To Get Your PS4 Games Working Again Find out about the PSN license issue and solve problems with your PS4 game licenses.

Since the launch of PlayStation 4, weve come across the issue with licences numerous times, yet by following a few simple steps weve managed to fix it!

Why Can’t I Download A Game I Bought On Ps4

If you’re trying to download a game, or even just an update for a game you already have installed, your PS4 might tell you there’s not enough free space in system storage. … Sometimes, your PS4 will refuse to complete a download, even when it looks like you should have plenty of space left on your hard drive.

How To Fix Ps4 Game License Issue

1. Log out and log back in

Yep, its the most simplest of fixes, but youd be surprised at how often this works. Just shut down your PS4 and boot it back up and if the problem is still there move onto step 2.

2. Are you actually signed into the profile associated with that account?

While some gamers will automatically sign-into their PSN profile when they boot up, others will manually need to sign in. Press up on the control pad, go to Settings > PlayStation Network > Sign in. Click Yes if asked if this is your Primary PS4 account.

3. Check the PSN status is it down?

We provide regular updates at PlayStation Universe on the PlayStation Network status, and you can also check the PSN down detector to see whether theres a problem. If there is, its just a matter of waiting until the network is back online. Keep an eye on our homepage or the official PlayStation server status UK page or U.S. page.

4. Deactivate as primary PS4 account

On numerous occasions, actually deactivating your primary PS4 account has worked for us and gets rid of the lock hovering over your game icons. This wont cause you any problems, as you can always re-activate again.

Go to Settings > PlayStation Network/Account Management> Deactivate as your primary PS4.

Now check to see if you can play your games.

5. Possible DRM issues

Try these steps:

  • Uninstall your disc version of the game, or
  • Ask previous owner to uninstall their disc version

6. Restore your license

Good luck!

Why Can’t You Play Digital Ps4 Games Offline

You might wonder why you can’t play your digital PS4 games offline, especially if they’re single-player. You bought them, so why can’t you access them both online and offline?

When you buy a digital game on the PS Store, you’re not actually buying the game itself, but more a license that allows you to play the game. Sony stores this license on a server. So, you need to be online to play your digital games so that Sony can verify that you have the license to play that game.

This is a form of digital rights management called “always-on DRM” which, despite garnering criticism, is commonplace in gaming.

Always-on DRM can prove a problem for numerous issues: you might be without internet for a period of time, a server problem could lock you out of your game despite you having an internet connection, and you might feel like your rights to a product that you bought are outside your control.

Fix: License Cannot Be Verified Error On Ps4

A PS4 user may start seeing an application suspending error on his console when playing paid games , especially, if he is game sharing. In some cases, the issue is reported to occur on the free games/apps as well. Usually, the following type of message is shown:

A PS4 may show application suspending error mainly due to the following:

    • Unverified Licenses: As the error message suggests, the console cannot verify the app/game license, either due to Internet shortage or if the licenses are not restored on the PS4, then that can cause the issue at hand.
    • Improper Configuration of the DNS Settings of the PS4: If the networks DNS cannot resolve the web addresses essential for the PS4s operation, then that may result in the application suspending issue.
    • Non-Primary Console: If the PS4 in use is not a primary console, then that can cause the issue under discussion as the PSN repeatedly verifies the game/app licenses on the console and the slightest flaw in the mechanism can cause the issue.
    • Network Issues: If the PS4 cannot maintain a persistent connection to its servers, either due to network restrictions or due to a misconfiguration of the router, then that may result in the application suspending error.

  • Playstation 4 Go to the main menu, hit the Settings menu and find Account Management. In there you search for Restore Licenses and press that, followed by Restore. Start OW2
  • Playstation 5 Hit the main menu and enter the Settings. Find Users and Accounts. Enter that menu. Within that menu, scroll to Other and click it. Search for the Restore Licenses item, enter it and hit Restore. Start OW2.

@Blizz can we have this as possible solution?

Unfortunate. Did it trigger the Merge Account thing?
