Steam added built-in support for the DS4 awhile ago, and some PC games even come with further support and settings that can be tweaked from the in-game menu.
In the case of Steam, you can select the DS4 as the default controller through the Settings menu.
How To Use A Ps4 Controller On Ps5
1: First, set your PS4 controller to pairing mode. To do this, simultaneously press the PS and Share buttons until a white light flashes .
2: Next, go to the Settings menu on your PS5 by clicking on the gear icon in the top right corner .
3: In the Settings menu, click on the Accessories option.
4: Click on Bluetooth Accessories under the General tab of the Accessories menu .
5: Bluetooth accessories have a PS4 controller listed as “Duashock4”. Click it to start pairing.
6: A pop-up will appear asking if you want to register your Bluetooth accessory. Just click “yes”.
7: Next, PS5 will ask you to register the controller to your profile. This is an important step. Make sure you click Add User and not the logged in profile .
In the next step, select the Quickplay option instead of signing in . This allows you to skip creating another PlayStation account. You can now use both PS5 and Dualshock4 controllers at the same time.
If you choose the same PS5 profile, your controller will take over as the default controller. Both PS4 and PS5 controllers cannot be used at the same time.
The only caveat with the above method is that you need to pair your PS4 controller every time you boot your PS5.
How To Connect Ps4 Controller To Steam
Before you start using your PS4 controller with Steam, there are some preliminary actions you should take, including making sure you have the latest version of the Steam client. Follow these steps:
Make sure any nearby PlayStation 4 consoles are unplugged. Otherwise, the controller might try to sync with the console instead of your computer.
Launch Steam on your PC.
Select Steam in the top-left corner of the window to open a dropdown menu, then select Check for Steam Client Updates.

How To Connect A Dualshock 4 Using Ds4windows
This solution requires a bit of setup, but its still the best way to get your PC and DualShock 4 controllers talking without any major headaches. You can connect your DualShock 4 controller to your PC using DS4Windows, a third-party application, in either wired or wireless mode . Unless you buy the adapter, this is the best option if you plan to play games through Origin, Ubisoft Connect, GoG, or other PC gaming portals.
DS4Windows essentially tricks your system into believing its using an Xbox 360 controller, but youll still have access to motion controls and even the touchpad for many games.
Step 1: Download the latest version of DS4Windows, which can be found on the applications official website.
Step 2: Extract it using an archive manager such as WinRAR or 7Zip. You will then have two files: DS4Windows and DS4Update.
