Sally Face Comes To Haunt Xbox And Playstation Owners

Having gathered up a bit of a cult following on PC and then Nintendo Switch over the years, its now time for Sally Face to head out to haunt Xbox and PlayStation players.

Available today for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4 and PS5 players to enjoy, is Sally Face, story-driven, side-scrolling 2D adventure in which youll follow the life of a young boy with a prosthetic face. You can get involved for £12.49.

Sally Face has been created by a solo developer one Steve Gabry, aka Portable Moose and first released on PC in episodic format. It comes to console in full, alongside both Spanish and French translations. It also hits with a rather unique, hand-drawn visual style that allows it to stand out from the crowd. That is further helped by some rather adult, pretty dark theming expect Sally Face to cover death, murder and suicide.

But what is it exactly? Well, its a story-driven affair in which youll be helping young Sal utilise his video game system in order to speak with the dead, uncovering their narratives and stories as you go. You see, a whoole string of murders have recently taken place and itll be up to you, to Sal and to his friends to work out what exactly is going on.

Promising to be pretty bizarre, should you be in the market for weird, then seriously consider a purchase and download of Sally Face on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S , PS4 or PS5. Obviously you could pick it up on PC or Switch too.

Strange Neighbors, Season 1

Sal Fisher, a 15-year-old boy with a prosthetic face, relocates to the Addison Apartments complex in the Nockfell town with his father. One of the other inhabitants, Mrs. Sanderson, was murdered the day before they arrived. Larry Johnson, who claims to have seen the murder, is one of the other tenants Sal encounters while exploring. Sal assists Larry in locating proof that Charley Mansfield, another renter, was the murderer. He is taken into custody when they give the police the proof.

The Wretched, Episode 2

A few months later, Larry confides in Sal that he believes a demonic presence in the structure has cursed him. Todd Morrison, a renter their age who makes gadgets, is where Sal goes after making a vow to help him. The three of them investigate the structure after Todd upgrades Sals Gear Boy to be able to recognise otherworldly activity. Sal goes into a hidden room on the top level, which is being construction, and there he meets the demon. Sal is saved by Larry, who also defeats the monster with a device Todd created.

Some Moments Of Trial And Error

Sally Face demands that you search for clues and piece together random bits of information. However, what it doesnt explain is the need to find hidden objects. Consequently, there is a fair bit of trial and error as you solve each puzzle. This was a bit of a surprise as I expected it to follow more traditional point and click mechanics. Thankfully, though, it works well and makes the action a little more challenging. Alongside this, there is a simple to use UI and responsive controls and this makes it easier to play.

Because of the array of mini-games and hidden surprises, there is some longevity and replay value. However, once youve discovered every secret, there is little reason to return. Luckily, youll enjoy around 10 hours of eerie and creepy gameplay. Subsequently, this is great value for money.

Sally Face Is Gruesome And Striking

Though the gameplay in Sally Face focuses on a simple 2D approach, its still gruesome and striking. The clean-cut character models and mountains of grotesque imagery will make you scowl and wince. Moreover, the brutality of each situation is captured in the fantastic cinematic. With depictions of gore and violence, this isnt for the faint of heart. However, I loved its horrific ways. Whats more, I liked the basic chapter layout and how easy it was to navigate each area. With a lot of back and forth required, you needed not to lose your way. Fortunately, the developers got this right, otherwise it would have been frustrating.

Alongside the gory nature of the gameplay are distinct melancholy vibes. This was excellent, as it built a strange rapport with the protagonist and his friends. This was captured brilliantly in the sombre, yet emotive heavy metal music. No matter which chapter you experienced, the sad, minor toned songs can be heard. Yes, this leads to depressive undertones, but luckily, the amusing dialogue and puzzle elements keep you busy. Whats more, the excellent sound effects enhance the OTT supernatural elements without becoming tiresome.

The Functionality Of Sally Face Game

Gameplay

A side-scrolling point-and-click adventure game, Sally Face combines storytelling, exploration, and puzzle-solving with player-direct control. Players can return to areas in subsequent timelines to discover how things have changed. Players are encouraged to chat to game characters and explore the environments to unearth secret plot elements. Sally Face has optional puzzles in each episode that advance the plot. In addition, the game has a number of minigames to break up the main gameplay.

Story

A boy with a prosthetic face is the main character in the gloomy adventure game Sally Face. Sal communicates with the dead using his portable video gaming system to get their stories. Sal and his three buddies find something genuinely frightening casting shadows over their little town following a succession of enigmatic deaths.

Episodes

There are a total of five episodes in Sally Face. A brief introduction is provided in the first episode, and a substantial expansion is provided in the following episodes.

On the day of their arrival, they are met by a grisly scene as their neighbour has been murdered. Youd think this would be bad enough. However, the building hides many secrets. Sal must team up with a group of outsiders to solve the many mysteries they encounter. There are supernatural elements, demonic beings, and a power that overshadows the whole community. Together, you must search for clues to thwart the darkness thatll destroy the world.

It has a release for the Xbox One, Series X/S, Playstation 4/5 on the 15 of April 2022. It was originally released on the PC way back in 2016.
