Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment first kicked off their relationship with Titanfall, a unique take on first-person shooters that introduced walking mechanical suits to the formula. That formula was perfected in Titanfall 2, and if you havent played its excellent campaign or multiplayer mode yet, you can do so for free with PlayStation Plus next month.
Available beginning December 3 and running through January 6, Titanfall 2 will be available completely free to those with a PlayStation Plus subscription. It offers a more refined and deeper competitive multiplayer mode than the original game, with customizable Titan classes and tons of different weapons and abilities to use. It also has some of the best map design in any first-person shooter, with spots for snipers to pick off targets, wall-running opportunities, and flatter areas perfect for Titan-versus-Titan combat. Downloadable content like additional maps have all been free, so youll be able to experience the full game with anyone else on PS4.
Also free for PlayStation Plus subscribers in December is Monster Energy Supercross: The Official Video Game, which contrary to , is not another name for Death Stranding. It probably wont take up as much of your time as Respawns masterpiece, but it does include a track editor for those who want to play around with their own designs and see what other players have to offer.

Released back in 2016, ‘Titanfall 2’ was somewhat eclipsed by ‘Battlefield I’ on its release, but kept a loyal player base which kept its multiplayer going for the past three years. The game was announced as part of December’s PS Plus, and if you’ve been looking for an excuse to either play it for the first time or just to get back into it, now’s your chance.
Far and away, the thing that people talk about in ‘Titanfall 2’ is its single-player campaign. What it does so well, however, is that it doesn’t necessarily require you to have played the first one. You can pick up the basic gist of the story – future, giant mechs called Titans, evil corporation trying to mine planets, they’ve got some kind of superweapon – within the first mission.
Where it develops into something truly special is the bond you develop with your Titan, named BT-7274. It’s telling that the writers of the game tried to hark back to the likes of ‘Lethal Weapon’ for the dynamic, and it works. When your Titan is off running around and you’re following along side him, the partnership feels real. Likewise, the thumbs up gesture he gives throughout evokes the likes of ‘Top Gun‘ – not to mention that BT-7274 refers to you as “Pilot” throughout the game.

PlayStation Plus free game fans are helping to bring Titanfall 2 back to life during December 2019.
According to the latest reports, a surge of new gamers joined the servers following Sonys December announcement.
It was revealed a few weeks ago that Titanfall 2 and Monster Energy Supercross would be the final free PS4 games of 2019.
And theyre both currently available to download from the PlayStation Store if you have an active PS Plus account.
Titanfall 2 isnt a new game, and it managed to score rave reviews when it landed back in 2016.
But a brutal release schedule saw it arrive sandwiched between other big releases, with Call of Duty helping to crowd out the market.
Fans never really saw the game take off like many had hoped for, even with a beefier single-player offering.
Since then, developers Respawn Entertainment has moved onto other projects, with Apex Legends and Jedi Fallen Order proving popular with console gamers.

Titanfall 2
Titanfall 2 is a first-person shooter video game, set in a science fiction universe, developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts.
A sequel to 2014’s Titanfall, players control Titans, mecha-style exoskeletons and their pilots, who are agile and equipped with a variety of skills ranging from wall-running to cloaking.
The single-player campaign follows the story of Jack Cooper, a rifleman from the Frontier Militia, who bonds with his mentor’s Titan BT-7274 after his mentor is killed. Together, they embark on a quest to stop the Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation from launching a superweapon that is threatening to destroy the Militia planet Harmony.
The multiplayer mode sees the return of Titanfall’s Titan meter, which fills slowly when the player is playing the game. It fills faster when the player kills an opponent, inflicts damage on enemies, or completes the map’s objectives such as capturing points in the Hardpoint game mode. When the meter is completely filled, the player can summon their selected Titan, which descends from the sky in a titular titanfall deployment.

Theres a lot of pleasant fuss surrounding Titanfall 2. In a season of very good shooters, it might be the best shooter. Its great that Respawn seems to have found the right tweaks to the formula to keep this from falling flat like the original Titanfall did its not so great that, reportedly, Titanfall 2 isnt selling very well.
EA is trying to make up some lost ground by giving prospective buyers a taste of the product. There will be a free multiplayer trial on PC, PS4, and Xbox One beginning on December 2. EA Access subscribers on PC and Xbox One will get the trial on November 30. As stated in the announcement post, its a full offering including all maps, modes, weapons and more. EA also notes that any progress earned in the trial will carry over if the player decides to purchase the game.
Since this is a full, unrestricted look at multiplayer, the trial will also include Titanfall 2s first DLC. Angel Citys Most Wanted releases on December 3, and features the Angel City map from the original Titanfall. A video for this is embedded above. This add-on, like all Titanfall 2 add-ons, will be free of charge.
What we dont know about this promotion is when it will end, just that its a limited time. Dont let that deter you, though. Make the most of it and rodeo some robots while the gettin is good.
You Can Try Titanfall 2 For Free On Ps4 Later This Week
So according to a lot of folks, Titanfall 2 is actually one of the best shooters to be released in years. Our very own Liam Croft thought it was excellent, and we’ve basically seen nothing but praise around the ‘net since it launched last month. There’s just one problem, though: it didn’t sell very well.
Fortunately, publisher EA is on the case, as it’s going to try and tempt non-believers into giving the title’s online modes a go. It hopes to accomplish this by offering a completely free trial period starting on Friday of this week, which is when you’ll be able to download said trail from the PlayStation Store. Whats more, any progress that you make during the free period will transfer to the full game, should you wish to snap a copy up.
At the time of writing, there’s no official word on how long the trail will last, but we assume that it’s going to be a weekend only deal, so you may want to get cracking as soon as it becomes available.

How Do We Access Playstation Plus Games
To get started playing Titanfall 2 this month, players need to have an active Playstation Plus membership set up.
