Godfall: Challenger Edition Godfall is a looter-slasher action RPG set in a high fantasy world. Players can jump into these quickly, however, as this edition equips them with the gear and skill points needed to partake in end-game content, while also letting you team up with up to two other players in co-op.

Lego DC Super-Villains This Lego-themed adventure sees you creating your own supervillain to wreak havoc alongside DC villains like the Joker, Harley Quinn, and Lex Luthor. But, rather than causing chaos for the Justice League, this band of villains instead is tasked with protecting the earth from alternative dimension supervillains who are masquerading as heroes, following the League’s disappearance.

Mortal Shell Mortal Shell is a single-player action RPG with Soulborne influences that sees you tracking down hidden sanctums of devout followers in an effort to discover your “true purpose”.

Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker Naruto to Boruto is a co-op fighting game that pits characters from the Naruto universe against each other in 4v4 battles. Set Naruto Shippuden and Boruto: the Next Generation, this open arena fighting game tries to recreate Naruto’s action feel, letting you create your own avatar or play as your old favorites.

God of War, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, and Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker will be available to download from June 7 until July 5, 2022.

Chicory: A Colorful Tale

Alongside AAA titles like Watch Dogs 2 and Assassin’s Creed Origins, Chicory: A Colourful Tale might struggle to stand out as part of PS Plus Extra and Premium’s September 20, 2022 additions. This indie game is about art, both thematically and in terms of gameplay. Set in a fantasy realm filled with talking animals, Chicory casts players as the person chosen to maintain the world’s color. This responsibility is heavier than usual as an entity has stripped the world of its vibrancy, leaving behind a black-and-white canvas.

Chicory is a puzzle-adventure game that ignites the player’s creativity as it allows them to use their brush as they see fit. However, actions have consequences, and not every NPC will be receptive to the protagonist’s artistic vision.

Conversely, both Injustice 2 and Superhot are only available as PS4 titles, although they can still be experienced on PS5 via the console’s backward compatible function.

Likely the best thing about this group of PS Plus games for October 2022 is the variety. Within this lineup, PlayStation is giving out a racing game, a fighting game, and a first-person shooter with puzzle elements. Developed by the creator of Until Dawn and The Quarry, we find five friends going on a holiday diving trip, which quickly goes badly wrong. Your choices determine whether these playable characters live or die, and you can have five other friends join you.

Arcadegeddon Arcadegeddon sees us playing as Gilly, a local arcade owner looking to save his business that’s threatened by a mega-corporation. Looking to make a new game to counter them, the company inject a virus into it, and this online co-op multiplayer shooter sees us taking up the fight.

Crash Bandicoot 4: Its About Time, The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan, and Arcadegeddon will be available to download from July 5 until August 2, 2022.

Uncharted : A Thief’s End

Unsurprisingly, one of the best PS4 games on PS Plus Extra is a Naughty Dog title, and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End arguably sits alongside The Last of Us and Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped as the developer’s greatest achievements. Premium subscribers can experience Nathan Drake’s full story, while The Lost Legacy is also available as part of the Extra tier. The whole franchise is top-notch, even the Vita’s Golden Abyss, but the PS4 entries benefit from improved gameplay compared to the PS3 games.

A Thief’s End has the most emotional narrative in the saga, one that reunites Nathan with his brother Sam. Their dynamic serves as the lengthy story’s beating heart, and the campaign is punctuated by plenty of incredible action set-pieces that are jaw-dropping to witness and fun to play.
