What Is Better Ps4 Or Xbox

Don't Miss

Which Is Better Ps4 Or Xbox Controller Winner Ps4

what is better xbox or ps4.

Although Microsoft has done well in iterating on its Xbox Controller in terms of the hugely capable Elite Controller Series, for my money, Sony still rules the roost where controllers are concerned.

Theres just nothing that feels quite so satisfying to use as the DualShock 4 controller. Super responsive, perfectly formed and bleeding the PlayStation identity, the DualShock 4 controller is one of the best controllers to ever grace a console.

Which Is Better Ps4 Or Xbox User Interface Winner Ps4

Look, theres no getting around it the user interface on Xbox One is *awful*. A convoluted tiled mess that is confusing to navigate and slow to respond, Microsoft really need to get this sorted for tits forthcoming Xbox Series X console, as it borders on being one of the most consumer hostile interfaces I have ever seen.

In stark comparison, the PS4 UI is a joy to use. Simple to navigate, easy on the eyes and super fast, whether youre playing games or multitasking with a Twitch stream, using the various functions of Sonys console is made effortless by it user interface. Bravo.

Better Overall Performance From Third

This is basically a moot point if were talking about the Xbox One X but since not everyone whos looking to purchase a console is looking to buy the most expensive one on the market, lets just keep this to a discussion between the standard PS4 and Xbox One models, shall we? . The fact of the matter is that PS4 games generally output at higher resolutions than their Xbox One counterparts, a minor advantage that paid off in the PS4s early years .

For instance, with a game like Metal Gear Solid5, theres more visual clarity to the PS4 version, with distant textures appear softer on the Xbox One version. Its quite common, especially with earlier titles, to find the PS4 version of a game running outputting a 1080p resolution at 30 or 60 frames per second, while the Xbox One achieves 720p or 900p at 30 or 60 fps. Again, the existence of the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X puts this comparison in Microsofts favor on the high end of the hardware spectrum, but when it comes to base models, the PS4 still reigns supreme in the graphical department.

Xbox One Vs Ps4 Accessories

Xboxs own accessories, like the Elite controller and Kinect 2, are top notch, but when you venture out to third-party offerings for headsets, controller products, etc., the advantage goes to Sony. Microsoft tends to heavily limit third party developers, which gives the PS4 the better accessory features and performance most of the time. The exception here is, of course, external hard drives, which the Xbox supports much more readily.

Xbox One Vs Ps: Performance And Graphics

Clash of the Titans : X

If you’re concerned about nuts and bolts, the starting versions of both consoles have an 8-core x86-64 AMD Jaguar processor with 8GB of RAM, an AMD Radeon GPU and a 500GB hard drive.

While games generally look and play great on both systems, PS4 has the edge in terms of resolution. For example, according to IGN’s database, games such as Batman: Arkham Knight and Shadow of Mordor all run at full 1080p on PS4, while Xbox One gamers have to settle for 900p on those titles. If getting the best possible crispness for most games is a priority, PS4 comes out on top.

However, when it comes to the premium versions of both consoles, Xbox has an edge. The $499 Xbox One X plays many titles in native 4K, and has the most powerful overall specs of any console out there. The $399 PS4 Pro technically plays games in 4K, but the experience is oftentimes upscaled rather than true 4K. For a detailed look at how these consoles stack up, check out our Xbox One X vs. PS4 Pro face-off.

Folks with HDR-ready TVs should also consider High Dynamic Range support, which allows for richer colors and better brightness. The Xbox One X, Xbox One S, PS4 Pro and standard PS4 all support HDR, though the list of HDR-enabled games varies by console.

Winner: PS4. Games look stunning on both systems, but the stock PS4 offers better resolution for many titles.

Ps4 Pro Vs Xbox One X: Bottom Line

Round by round, the Xbox One X comes out on top. Youll get stronger performance for both old and new games, even in 4K; a wide back catalog thanks to backward compatibility with Xbox 360 and the original Xbox; 4K streaming; support for 4K Blu-ray discs; and the most stable online gaming network around.

What youll give up with that, though, are the best exclusives on the market, which still belong to the PlayStation 4 Pro. That console can also play games in 4K, though its games have had varying frame rates. Its also the only system with a VR headset on the market. Oh, and its $100 cheaper, which is a serious price advantage.

Both systems will stream Netflix and Hulu in 4K, and will support games in both 4K and HDR. But the Xbox One X is the more powerful system and has backward compatibility, while the PS4 Pro is a better value and has more exciting exclusive content.

Xbox One Vs Playstation : Which Controller Is Right For You

The PS4’s DualShock 4 has several;advantages over the Xbox One controller. Unlike the Xbox One controller which only features Bluetooth in its newer models, all PS4 controllers come equipped with this feature. This means there is absolutely no need for additional hardware material for the controller to connect to a PC. Plus, the DualShock 4 is a rechargeable controller by default and can easily be charged up via a Micro USB cable. Featuring a built-in trackpad, the controller;can;be used as a makeshift mouse should a physical one not be accessible. Unfortunately, the PS4 controller does suffer with connecting to most Windows PCs as there are no official Sony drivers available. Users will need to install third-party software in order to get the controller to function properly. Since;most;PC games incorporate Xbox controller layouts by default, it’s not uncommon for button prompts to conflict with the DualShock 4’s button layout.

Retailing at $60 USD, both controllers cost approximately the same amount when purchased brand new. However, Xbox does sell a premium version of their Xbox One controller known as the Xbox One Elite Series 2. This controller costs a staggering $180 USD, but features a lot of hardware and software customization options not seen in the standard Xbox One controller. As far as premium grade;gaming controllers go, the Xbox One Elite is a player’s best option.

Which Console Won; Ps4 Xbox One Or Nintendo Switch

That depends on how you look at it. The Switch has sold almost 90 million consoles in four years. It took Sony nine years to sell 144 million consoles, cementing its position as the current best-selling console of all time.

Going off current figures, it is undoubtedly Sony and its PlayStation 4 console leading the charge. Microsoft didn’t even get a look in with the Xbox One. However, given that Nintendo still has the unreleased Switch OLED to boost those console sales figures, we may well see it climb to the top of the console sales data.

It will be interesting to return to this analysis once Nintendo has had nine years of selling the Nintendo Switch. If we looked again in five years time, the figures above might well paint a very different picture.

However, for now, it seems a pretty safe bet to crown the PlayStation 4 as the winner of the last generation’s console wars. With so many consoles sold since 2013, the PlayStation 4 is certainly the console that actually won.

So Which Is The Better Console

whats better Xbox or Ps4?

The PS4 vs. Xbox One debate really comes down to whether you care about exclusives or not. There are a ton of amazing games on PS4 that you cant play on Xbox One. On the other hand, many of the best Xbox One exclusives are also available on PC.

If youre looking to experience all the best games this generation has to offer, the PlayStation 4 Pro is the best console to purchase. But if youre not interested in exclusive titles and just want the most value out of your console, the Xbox One S or Xbox One X is likely the machine for you.

Xbox One Vs Ps: Connectivity

  • You can’t upgrade Xbox One’s internal hard drive, but you can on the PS4
  • Both consoles support the use of external hard drives
  • The Xbox One has more ports on its rear

Depending on how your gaming setup is organized, the connectivity of your console could be an extremely important detail.

Both the Xbox One S and X have identical ports, each including two HDMI ports, one for receiving an input from a cable or satellite box, and one that inputs to your TV. On top of those, theyve each got two USB-3 ports, IR outputs, optical audio out, Ethernet ports and, of course, the power cable which is compatible with both versions of the Xbox. However, due to the quick and tragic downfall of Kinect, if you want to use a Kinect with either version of the Xbox One youll have to go out and get an adapter.;

The PS4 Pro and PS4 Slim have similar inputs, although they are slightly different. Each has a single HDMI out, a single USB port in the back , an Ethernet port, and power. The only difference between the Pro and the Slim is that the Pro has an Optical Audio out, while the Slim drops it. One of the most compelling things about the connectivity of the PS4, however, is that both versions allow users to swap out the internal hard drive with another one of their choice.

All versions of both the Xbox One and PS4 support 802.11 ac Wi-Fi and Gigabit Ethernet so no matter which console you decide on, you wont have to worry about network compatibility.

Xbox One X Vs Ps4 Pro: Which Should You Buy

ByAndrew E. Freedman13 August 2020

The Xbox One X has more power than the PlayStation 4 Pro, but Sony fights back with an incredible game lineup and a lower price.

With the release of the Xbox One X in 2017, Microsoft raised the bar on console performance. But it faced stiff competition from Sony’s PS4 Pro, which beat the Xbox to market with a 2016 release. Both focus on 4K gaming and streaming, but there are plenty of differences. In our Xbox One X vs PS4 Pro showdown, we put the two consoles through 10 rounds of combat to help you figure out which one you should get.

Although both consoles are now in their twilight years, with the Xbox Series X and PS5 looming over the horizon, there’s still reason to look at buying these consoles today. They’re actually available to purchase for one, and with many game devs promising your new purchases on this generation will carry over to the next, buying one of these will still give you an up-to-date gaming experience for a few years yet.

The Microsoft Xbox One

Microsoft followed up on Sony’s PS4 launch soon after, releasing the Xbox One on November 22nd, 2013 in North America. The Xbox 360 had proven to be a genuine competitor to the PS3, so one might expect Microsoft to continue this trend with the Xbox One.

However, this was not to be. At least, as far as we can tell. Microsoft has always held its cards close to its chest in terms of sales figures, and it actually stopped reporting Xbox One console sales back in 2015, according to an IGN article. It did the same with the release of the Xbox Series X; it wouldn’t give away the sales figures for that console, either.

This being said, the same article tells us that, by the end of 2018 Microsoft had sold in the region of 41 million consoles. This figure is likely to have grown in the three years since so, in the absence of concrete sales figures from Microsoft, we’ll make a conservative estimate of between 45-50 million Xbox One consoles sold in total.

So, in terms of sales, the Xbox One isn’t the strongest of the three consoles, and those sales figures clearly don’t place it as the winner in this analysis.

A Lot Of Games Have Ps4 Bonuses That Xbox Players Miss Out On

PS4 vs Xbox One

Destiny 2

This is something of a continuation of the whole exclusivity argument that I touch on in both the last two bullet points. On top of better and more numerous exclusives that you cant play anywhere else, PS4 players get additional bonuses in other big, third-party games like Destiny 2and .

Because Sony makes deals with game publishers, theyll often get exclusive content or limited exclusive content for DLC, expansions, certain missions and so forth. I dont really like this practice and I hope it stops, but its something to consider when purchasing a console.

Ps4 Pro Vs Xbox One X Virtual Reality

The PS4 Pro is much better equipped for the PSVR than the current PS4 thanks to its improved processing and graphical grunt.

The original PS4 will still be able to run the PSVR and its associated games, but the PS4 Pro will give you a much better and more comfortable gameplay experience.

The social screen, A.K.A what anyone else in the house can see on the TV screen when you’re deep in VR land, is vastly improved over what’s available on either of the standard PS4 consoles, although it’s still not HD resolution or full screen.

VR game developers are also starting to issues PS4 Pro specific patches for PS VR games running on Sony’s latest console.

However, we will caveat this by saying that you’ll need to disconnect the PS VR if you want to play games on the PS4 Pro in 4K or with HDR. That’s because the PS VR’s processing unit can’t process either of these new display technologies.

That makes moving between “normal” PS4 games and PS VR titles a bit of a faff, especially if your PS4 Pro is wedged in any kind of entertainment unit where the back isn’t easily accessible.

Is One Refurbished Console Better Than The Other

The truth is, that neither of these consoles really outclasses the other, at least not in terms of specs. It was a very different story back in the days of the Xbox 360 vs. the PS3, where the PlayStation offered free online play whereas the Xbox had a better overall online ecosystem . If you were a gamer back then, you may also remember that the PS3 was able to play Blu-ray Discs, while the Xbox 360 wasnt. Both the PS4 and Xbox One can play Blu-ray movies, in case you were wondering.

But the truth is that now the Xbox and PlayStation are very evenly matched, and this is a good thing, because there was never any need for a dispute among which console was better. It was from the beginning, and still is now, a matter of preference.

Which Is Better Ps4 Or Xbox Backwards Compatibility Winner Xbox One

While the PS4 can play digital versions of PS2 games from PSN and emulate PS1 and PS3 games through its PlayStation Now service, its a far cry from what Microsoft has been able to do with the Xbox One.

Not only is the Xbox One backwards compatible with Xbox 360 games from the previous generation , but Microsofts console can also play games from the very first Xbox, too. Add in 4K and frame rate enhancements for Xbox 360 and original Xbox games played through the Xbox One X console and Microsoft clearly wins in this area. Sony for its part though, looks to be making some changes in this area.

Sony Playstation vs Microsoft Xbox – Which Is Better – Video Game Console Comparison

Whether we like to admit it or not, folk love their games to look the dogs bollocks. The PS4 and Xbox One are pretty much equal in terms of horsepower if youre comparing games side-by-side, but its when you consider the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X that things really start to make a difference.

Honestly, if youre making your purchase decision based on how games look on the standard PS4 and Xbox One, then you should perhaps look elsewhere. There really isnt a substantial difference to give one machine the edge over the other. Xbox One X is on paper the more powerful console, but PS4 Pro is still a powerhouse capable of offering some gorgeous 4K resolution and frame rate enhancements.

However, if youre factoring in the Xbox One S too, then you have the added advantage of a base Xbox console with 4K capabilities for video playback, as well as upscaling games to 4K. The standard PS4/PS4 Slim does not do this.

Still, PS4 Slim looks way prettier than the Xbox One S, which counts for something, right? Right??
