What Is Playstation Now Vs Plus

Don't Miss

Xbox Game Pass Vs Ps Now Overview

PS Plus vs PS Now Explained

Both Game Pass and PS Now are game subscription services that, in exchange for a flat monthly fee, give you access to a library to hundreds of games. However, you only own these games as long as your subscription is active.

PS Now allows you to stream the 800+ games in its library and gives you the option to download them to your PC or console hard drive. Following Sony’s acquisition of cloud gaming company Gaikai in 2012 for $380 million, PS Now members can play titles on a remote server, if their internet speeds are strong enough.

Sony recommends at least 5 mbps, but 10+ will be better for interruption-free gameplay, and that can go higher for the most graphically intensive experiences. However, while this saves on hard drive space, irritating mid-game disconnections are a possibility. In any case, an Ethernet connection is always preferable to wi-fi for the best quality stream.

PS Now is available on PS4, PS5 and PC, making the platform the only way mouse and keyboard loyalists can play Sony exclusives like Bloodborne, The Last of Us, and Uncharted. Though that could change, based on recent reports.

Game Pass lets players download games to their PC or Xbox console , which requires HDD or SDD drive space, and the time to download them. There’s no limit on your number of game downloads and you have access to them offline for up to 30 days.

Why You Need Playstation Plus

Launching back in 2010, PlayStation Plus was Sony’s first subscription service, as well as the first of its kind. It originally offered PlayStation 3 gamers exclusive deals and free monthly games two years before Xbox Live Gold debuted. The service is still active today, continuing its traditions on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Primarily, PlayStation Plus exists to provide online multiplayer features, and subscribing is the only way to play games like FIFA, , Grand Theft Auto Online, and Monster Hunter World online. However, some free-to-play games like Fortnite, Apex Legends and Spellbreak are fully accessible without it.

Every month, PlayStation Plus offers two free PS4 games and one free PS5 game, which gamers can keep as long as they continue to subscribe. Even those who have not gotten their hands on the hard-to-find next-gen console can claim the monthly PS5 game to enjoy once they upgrade. PlayStation 5 owners who subscribe to PS Plus also have the added benefit of the PS Plus Collection, which includes 20 hit games from the PS4 era like The Last of Us Remastered, God of War and Persona 5.

Ps Now Vs Xbox Game Pass Price

PlayStation Now can be purchased for longer time periods at increasingly better value – however the service currently isn’t available in Australia.

One month of PS Now costs $9.99 / £8.99 – recently cut from $19.99 to match the price of a month of Game Pass in the US – and three months is $24.99 / £22.99, and a year is $59.99 / £49.99. 12 months of PS Now bought at once works out at just under $5 a month. There’s also a 7-day free trial that can be cancelled at any time, so it’s worth quitting for a month if you find yourself with less time to play.

It should be noted, though that theres no bundle that adds in PlayStation Plus, so youve still got to pay $9.99 / £6.99 a month for online play .

The base level of Xbox Game Pass costs $9.99 / £7.99 / AU$10.95 per month on console, with access to the PC beta costing $4.99 / £3.99 / AU$4.98 per month or $14.99 / £11.99 / AU$14.95 per quarter.

But there’s also Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which is more expensive at $14.99 / £10.99 / AU$15.95 a month but offers much greater value for money. With a Game Pass Ultimate subscription users get access to Game Pass, Xbox Live Gold, Game Pass for PC, cloud gaming and EA Play for one flat fee. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers now have access to Xbox Cloud Gaming, too, as well as EA Play for consoles.

At time of writing, Microsoft is offering the first three months of Game Pass for $1 / £1 / AU$1 but only if you’re a new member.

Playstation Now Vs Playstation Plus: Which Do You Need For Your Ps5

Sony offers two subscription services, PS Now and PS Plus, which provide different features to enhance the PlayStation experience.

Sony offers two subscription services that allow gamers to enjoy their PlayStation consoles: PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now. Similar to its main competitor, which offers both Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass, Sony’s services offer different features that allow subscribers to further enjoy their consoles through online play and a library of games available on demand, respectively.

However, unlike Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which combines the benefits of both services into one monthly fee, Sony does not offer a bundle that combines their separate services. While some gamers may be fortunate enough to simultaneously subscribe to PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now, others might not actually need to pay for both.

How Much Playstation Plus Costs And What It Offers

PS Now vs. PS Plus | PlayStation | What’s the difference & Which one do you need?

While you can connect your PlayStation to the internet without a subscription and even stream apps like Netflix or Hulu most of the valuable features are locked behind PlayStation Plus.

This includes the ability to play multiplayer games online, access to free games each month which, once downloaded, you can continue to play for as long as you have a subscription and exclusive early access to game demos and betas.

PlayStation Plus also gives you 100GB of online storage for saved game files. This means that even if your PlayStation breaks, your save data is safe.

There are several different subscription options for PlayStation Plus:

    • A 12-month subscription costs $US59.99 per month)
    • A 3-month subscription costs $US24.99 per month)
    • A one-month subscription costs $US9.99 .

Theres also a 14-day free trial available if youve never used PlayStation Plus before.

    How Do The Deals Work

Some of the sales on the PlayStation Store are only available for PlayStation Plus subscribers. Other sales offer a higher price for non-subscribers, but a cheaper price for subscribers. In this case, youll see two separate prices for an item on the PlayStation Store. The yellow price with a plus sign is the price for PlayStation Plus subscribers, while the white price is for non-subscribers.

Sony is often running some sale or another, but those sales arent always amazing. Bear in mind that you generally wont get a discount on big new games as soon as they come out. Discounts are typically available only on older big games, or perhaps newer small indie games.

Whatever you purchase through these sales is yours to keep, even after your subscription expires.

    Playstation Now Cloud Saves

There are a handful of non-obvious ease-of-use issues with PS Now. As mentioned in the features section above, your saves are sent to the cloud so you can go between PS4 and PC. However, if you buy a game thats available on PS Now and want to continue your save locally, youll have to manually sync your PS4 system with the PS Now servers.

The same is true the other way. If you start a game locally and want to play it on PS Now, youll have to manually sync your saves. However, Sony says you can only do this sometimes. If you have PS3 saves tied to your account, you may be able to sync your save and trophies with your PlayStation Now session, but it doesnt always work.

Combined with the queuing, PlayStation Now doesnt inspire a lot of confidence. The FAQ gives the ever disappointing maybe to a lot of very important questions. Its as if PS Now was tacked onto the existing PlayStation Network ecosystem without full thought, which can lead to issues when syncing saves or starting a new session.

Theres even more gray areas when factoring in downloadable content, PlayStation VR and the PlayStation Camera. DLC that you own isnt supported, no matter if you purchased it from the PlayStation Store or received it from a disk. Likewise, you cant use your PlayStation accessories, such as PS VR or the PS Camera with PlayStation Now.
