Playstation 5 Stock Shortage
Sony had planned on the production of 5 million PlayStation 5 games consoles by the end of March 2021. But as the popularity of gaming exploded during the pandemic, Sony doubled PlayStation production to meet 10 million units by the same date.
Sadly, it wasn’t enough. In May 2021, the company warned analysts that PlayStation 5 shortages would continue until 2022: “I dont think demand is calming down this year and even if we secure a lot more devices and produce many more units of the PlayStation 5 next year, our supply wouldnt be able to catch up with demand,” said Hiroki Totoki, Sony’s Chief Financial Officer.
On 12th November 2021 the PS5’s first birthday Sony Interactive Entertainment boss Jim Ryan addressed historic demand for the PS5 in a PlayStation.Blog post. Ryan admitted that “inventory constraints remain a source of frustration for our customers” and said that Sony is “laser-focussed” on shipping as many console units as possible.
It all sounds very positive but the truth is, the company expects to produce one million fewer consoles 15 million, rather than 16 million in the financial year ending March 2022.
With the emergence of the Omicron COVID-19 variant, it seems that chip shortages are set to continue this year and possibly beyond.
In early 2022, Sony decided to keep manufacturing PS4 consoles. The company intends to make an extra one million PS4 machines to compensate for the lack of PS5 stock. It’s certainly one way to tackle the problem.
Register Now To Buy A Ps5 From Sony
We have good news if you miss this opportunity to buy your PS5 from Sony Direct. Sony is now letting people register to buy a PlayStation 5.
PS5 restock events have been held frequently, with at least one PS5 restock event held every month. Some PlayStation 5 restock events even take place a week after a previous one. So, PS5 availability is relatively more common now, and your chances of finding a console in stock are improving.
Theres no guarantee that youll get one, but youll undoubtedly have a much better chance this way. Hurry up though, because theres going to be a very, very long line.
Will They Ever Restock The Ps5
It seems like the PS5 is always out of stock, especially because, with the exception of a nice two-week inventory splash in June, the Sony console stock has been so light in 2022 compared to last year before Black Friday. How Do I Increase My Chances Of Getting A Ps5
Major retailers like Walmart, GameStop, Amazon, Target and Best Buy don’t usually give much notice ahead of a restock. Sometimes they’ll have a restock in the morning, other times in the afternoon and, in some cases, even in the middle of the night. Here are some tips to help you get the jump on the competition.
First tip: Don’t wait until you see an alert for a PS5 inventory drop. Check the links at major retailers for stock updates daily or even multiple times a day. If you do happen upon some PS5 availability, go all-in with as many browsers and devices as possible. On a desktop, for example, open the retailer’s page in Chrome, Firefox and Edge. Then do the same on your phone and tablet. The more devices and browsers, the better. It’s like with lottery tickets: The more you have, the better your chances of winning.
Second tip: Create accounts at the different retailers and make sure you’re already logged in if you’re going to try to get a PS5. Make sure all your shipping, bill and payment info is updated on whatever device you can buy from, whether it’s a laptop, desktop or phone. This makes checking out a lot faster, which is crucial as retailers’ sites get quickly bogged down, leading to people losing their chance of securing a PS5.

Ps5 Restock Latest News And Rumors
Amazon is now accepting registrations for invite-only PS5 restocks. This is a big change from how the retailer typically handled selling PS5 consoles.
Similarly, Target has confirmed a massive change to how it handles selling PS5 consoles which could offer hope to gamers still after a next-gen console. The retailer will no longer be holding restock events but will instead allow individual stores to sell stock as they get it, so make sure to check your nearest location.
Don’t forget, you can still sign up for Sony’s invite-only PS5 restock registration for future restocks . You won’t be guaranteed a console, but it’s a great way to get your email into the mix and potentially be selected to participate in future Sony Direct drops.
In some positive restock news, Sony has recently told investors that one of its top priorities is getting more PS5s into the hands of consumers. To achieve Sony plans to boost PS5 manufacturing to levels “never achieved before” over the coming months. This PS5 production boost could see restocks becoming significantly more common.

Picking up a PS5 by itself is far more difficult than finding it bundled up with some games and accessories. Retailers prefer to package extra kit into their listings, and they do tend to stick around on the shelves a lot longer. We’d always recommend checking the value of the additional PS5 accessories you’re buying against the total of the bundle, however, to make sure you’re not being ripped off – you should only ever pay MSRP for anything you find.

When Was The Ps5 Released
The PS5 was released on 19 November 2020 in the UK and sold out instantly. Some of the people who pre-ordered the console on Amazon found themselves greeted with not a shiny new PS5, but a bag of grain, a grill or some cat food instead. Despite being out for more than a year now, the PS5 is still extremely difficult to find.
Playstation 5 Price: Recent History
After much waiting, Sony announced the price and release date of the PS5 on 16th September 2020.
The company set the price of the PS5 Digital Edition at £360 / $400 / AU$599, and the PS5 disc edition at £450 / $490 / AU$749. That came as a pleasant surprise to those who’d expected the PS5 to be priced higher than the rival Xbox Series X.
In August 2022, Sony raised the price in certain territories, the UK and Australia among them. British buyers will now pay £479.99 for the standard PS5, and £389.99 for the PS5 Digital Edition without a Blu-ray disc drive. Australian gamers will now pay AU$799.95 and AU$649.95 respectively.
Prices are also going up in Europe, Japan, China, Mexico and Canada, but the US price remains unchanged.
With demand continuing to outstrip supply in 2022, finding a PS5 deal continues to be a challenge . Could the rumoured launch of the PS5 Pro in 2023/24 trigger a major PS5 price drop? Fingers crossed.

The original PlayStation and PS2 launched at £299 in 1994 and 2000 respectively. The PS3 was quite the step up in 2006, with the entry-level 20GB model starting at £425 although that was more or less in line with inflation with regard to the original PlayStation, and there were also the significant hardware upgrades to factor in, not least of all being the Blu-ray optical drive.

Live Ps5 Restock Updates
Wednesday, September 14 update: The PS5 Horizon bundle sold out at Walmart, but remains in stock at Sony Direct. There are two problems with this, though. One, many of my PS5 Twitter tracker followers want the Sony PlayStation 5 console on its own, without being force to buy this particular game with a $50 price bump. Second, Sony Direct tends to glitch out or limit who can buy PS5 from its storefront.
Thursday, September 8: PS5 has finally sold out at Walmart although it has come back in stock less than 24 hours later when I last mentioned this. But, overall, you might not see a big Walmart PS5 restock until October at this point and time.
Tuesday, August 30 at 1pm ET: Same deal for the PS5 restock today as we saw yesterday. The Sony console is in stock at Walmart, while other retail locations in the United States are sold out. Youll just have to pay $550, but it includes a game.
Monday, August 29 at 9am ET: I woke up today to see that the PS5 restock is still going on at Walmart, and I can safely add the Sony console to my cart. Thats a sign that well continue to see the PS5 in stock and remain that way at more retailers in the US the next time theres a restock.
Sunday, August 28 at 6am ET: The Walmart PS5 restock remains available to purchase on Sunday, meaning its been in stock all weekend except for a few hours when it vanished from Walmarts inventory system. This is a good sign for Sony.
Stockx Ps5 In Stock Uk
Not a website that we’re particularly familiar with, but StockX does seem to have PS5 consoles in stock. They seem a bit similar to eBay or Amazon in that they have private sellers on the site, but for sought-after collectables such as trainers and trading cards.
They have a verification process, and fluctuating stock market price, so you’re paying the competitive value at the time in theory. Overall, they have a 3.8 score on TrustPilot, and you can read more about how they work here. All this still means inflated prices, with consoles selling between £550-£900.

Playstation 5 Digitial Edition Was Recently Restocked At Amazon
You need the following information if youre looking for a PS5 restock update from Amazon.
In May, Amazon announced that it restocked the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition console. The announcement came around 8:00 AM PT on a Wednesday. For anyone on the East Coast, thats 11:00 AM ET.
Note this because PS5 restock announcements from Amazon might come up around that time regardless of how infrequent they occur.
Theres no indication of exactly how much PS5 inventory Amazon have on hand whenever they announce their PS5 restock updates.
Amazons PS5 restock announcements are special for two reasons.
First, Amazon doesnt typically make an announcement when there is a PS5 restock update. Instead, the console just appears in stock on Amazons site and then sells out almost immediately. Amazons announcement often indicates a more significant restock with much available inventory.
Second, Amazon doesnt explicitly state that the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition consoles will be available only to Prime members. Thats often the case, but almost anyone can order the PS5 consoles once a special PS5 restock announcement comes up. But, you can opt for an Amazon Prime Membership to be first in line for these PS5 restocks.
Amazons PlayStation 5 restock has increased in the last few months. Keep checking Amazon to see if the PlayStation 5 is back in stock so you can grab one before others do.
Ps5 Stock Locked Behind Retailer Subscriptions
You’ll notice retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Walmart, and more routinely start to offer their PS5 stock to members of their premium subscription services. For example, those with a PowerUp Pro membership at GameStop are often given exclusive access to purchase PS5s.
Likewise, Best Buy Totaltech members may get early access to PS5 stock drops, and Walmart+ members are starting to get exclusive access to drops of new consoles. Of course, it makes it a bit more costly to acquire one, but this also means stock sells out slower.
Amazon members can also register via email to be selected for a chance to buy a PS5. It’s not a guarantee by any means, but like other sign-ups if you are selected, you have an exclusive window in which to purchase the consol.e

Where Can You Buy The Ps5 Right Now
As of 16 September, the PS5 is currently in stock at 12 different retailers, including PlayStation Direct, Currys, BT Shop, Game, Argos, Scan, ShopTo, AO, Studio, Smyths Toys, Hughes and EE. Most retailers have now put their prices up, but BT, Currys, ShopTo and Hughes have yet to do so.
PlayStation Direct is the only retailer currently selling the PS5 digital edition console, albeit as part of a bundle and at the inflated price. Smyths Toys, Argos and PlayStation Direct are all currently selling the PS5 disc edition console on its own, without any accessories or add-ons, again at the inflated price of £479.99.
has also changed how customers buy the PS5 disc edition console from its website. You now need to . When youre sent one, youll be given 72 hours to buy the console before it is released to someone else. Invitations were last sent out on 6 September. for a chance to get one in the next wave of invitations. The retailer restocked the Horizon Forbidden West bundle on 14 September.

What About Playstation Vr2
In addition to increasing the supply of PS5s, Sony is working on its next generation of gaming VR, officially titled the PlayStation VR2, or PS VR2. Sony , detailing the hardware powering PlayStation VR2.
An impressive list of specs put it well above its predecessor, including HDR support and cutting setup to a single wire. Sony is also working on some first-party games for the system, such as Horizon Call of the Mountain, co-developed by Guerrilla Games and Firesprite.
As for third-party support, we know that Sony is aiming to have a total of 20 games for PS VR2 at launch across first and third-party. Capcom’s Resident Evil Village is being ported to PS VR2, and some kind of support is also being developed for the upcoming Resident Evil 4 remake.
Eschewing the Move controllers of the past, PlayStation VR2 uses the new Sense controllers, which feature the same haptic feedback and adaptive triggers as the DualSense. Right now, the headset doesn’t have a release date or even a release window. Unfortunately, we also don’t have a price at the moment, but we will update this page once we do.
Sony’s Next Allocation Of Ps5 Pre
The first round of pre-orders for Sonys PlayStation 5 console went live a few days, however, it clearly didnt go quite as planned after the units were sold out a day before the scheduled date. And while Sony had acknowledged the issue, the company also confirmed that there will be more PS5 units arriving in stock for pre-order.
