Psn Down: Whats The Problem
PSN is down on both the PS3 and PS4, with its issues being noted on the official PlayStation site.
You may have some difficulty launching games, applications or online features, a status update on the site reads. Our engineers are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, and we thank you for your patience.
The Ask PlayStation Twitter account also notified its followers of PSNs problems, tweeting: Were aware that users are having issues accessing some features on PSN. Thanks for your patience as we investigate.
No timescale has been offered for fixes to be deployed, though with Sonys engineers working on the problem, it seems that PSN will be brought back online sooner rather than later. At the time of this writing, only PSNs gaming and social features have been affected, with the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Now, PlayStation Video and PlayStation Music still fully operational.

The PlayStation Network experienced some issues on Tuesday. At the time, Sonys PlayStation status page said that says that things like launching games, buying, downloading, and browsing games, and signing in to your account may have been impacted.
The issues popped up just a few hours after the release of Stray, the futuristic adventure game starring a cat. Sony didnt give a specific reason as to why there were problems, so Im going to place the blame for the outage squarely on the cute kitty. The cat wreaked havoc.
Its not clear how widespread the issues were. Things seemed to work fine on my PS5, though I saw a lot of people reportissues on Twitter, and there was a spike of user reports of problems on Downdetector. Maybe someone over at Sony fed the cat to get things fixed.
Update July 19th, 3:27PM ET: Sony says that PlayStation services are back up and running.

Sony has confirmed that a technical issue is currently affecting the PlayStation Network, and that gamers using the PlayStation Website, consoles, or handheld devices will have trouble using core features. The PlayStation Network server status site lists these problems as affecting PSN performance tonight:

The affected devices currently only list PS4 and PS5 consoles for some of these services, but theres a good chance that other platforms will be running slower due to server strain.
No ETA has been provided for when PSN services will return to normal or when Game Streaming will come back online in the UK or North America.
More news and updates are expected to be shared by Sony if the current PlayStation Network issues continue past 9pm BST.

At the moment it appears as though PlayStation Network is down, it is likely that the team at PlayStation is currently investigating why the outage is happening. The official status is still showing that all services are up and running but this is likely to change. It is unknown if it is tied to specific regions, I am writing from the UK where it is absolutely down as of the time of writing. Further, on Twitter people have also been reporting problems along with reporting the issues on the main status detector sites.

Playstation Network Experienced Major Issues Today
If you struggled to access online multiplayer games on PS5 or PS4 today, you may have noticed that PSN was down — but it looks like Sony has fixed the outage … mostly, that is.
PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 reported throughout Wednesday issues accessing online multiplayer games, with Sony’s own server network status site showing problems with gaming and social, PlayStation Now and PlayStation Store.
Some players reported that PlayStation Network wasn’t recognizing their PS Plus subscription , which was stopping them from accessing online play. We tested it out for ourselves and found we were unable to play several online games that require PS Plus, but could access several others that did not. TechRadar reached out to Sony for an explanation, but the company did not reply.
But good news! The PlayStation Network is back online now, with the PlayStation network Server Status page now showing issues only with the PlayStation Now service. Sony has acknowledged the remaining problem and has said it’s “working to resolve the issue as soon as possible”.

PlayStation Network servers are down today, July 19, as the new cat game Stray is presumably causing an influx of folks eager to step into the paws of an adventurous orange tabby. according to both player reports, PS5 error codes, and Sony’s official sources.
At the time of writing, the PSN service status tracker says “some services are experience issues,” so it’s important to note that there are some components of the PSN that are still in working order. Also, for what it’s worth, we experienced no issues downloading games from PlayStation Plus and the PlayStation Store here on the US West Coast.
Still, PlayStation says a network outage will prevent some players from accessing parts of the PlayStation Store, account management, and “gaming and social” features more broadly. As it stands right now, Sony hasn’t offered any timetable for when these services could come back, and the issue seems to have been affecting players for at least a couple of hours.
As we’ve yet to hear any official word from Sony on a resolution timeline, all we have to go on is speculation surrounding the nature of the outage. And again, its timing coinciding with the release of the acclaimed Stray is likely no coincidence.

All Services Are Experiencing Issues
Update 4/12 4:58 pm PT: PlayStation Network is back up according to the official Network Status page.
PlayStation’s official PSN Status page is now listing all online services as up and running. If you log into PSN on your PlayStation device now, you should be able to engage with online services.
PlayStation has not acknowledged the temporary outage that lasted a little under an hour.
PlayStation Network is currently down.
Reports from PlayStation owners online as well as the PlayStation status page indicate that PSN is currently experiencing some technical difficulties.
As shown on IGN sister site DownDetector, there have been over 13,000 reports of an outage with PSN since 4 pm PT.
According to the official PlayStation Network status tracker, all services, from Account Management, online gaming, PlayStation Now, and the PSN Store are experiencing issues.
No official word yet on why exactly there’s an outage or how long it will be until services are back to normal. So check back with IGN as we’ll update this story when services resume, or there’s an official announcement.

Multiversus Devs Are Rolling Players In Over Time
MultiVersus devs released its free-to-play beta this morning. Unfortunately, no one could play it when it launched. Apparently, the games servers were down for maintenance. They did start to come back online eventually.
With that said, MultiVersus devs are slowly allowing players in the servers across different platforms and regions. Once the game is fully operational, it will reportedly feature crossplay support and cross-progression fox PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.
Servers are up, developer Tony Huynh announced on social media. We are rolling players in over time.
To say that MultiVersus launch is complicated would be a bit of an understatement. Fans who bought the Founders Pack got access to the game on July 19th. They had a bit of a headstart considering that devs only launched the game for the general public on July 26th. Unfortunately, it has not been playable at launch. Fans who tried to log in this morning immediately ran into a maintenance announcement.
Warner Bros. did not really specify when MultiVersus servers will be back online. What fans know about the situation at the moment, is that servers will be back to their normal state soon. At least, devs gave their fans a more detailed statement to explain the downtime. We have had an issue with one of our build servers, devs continued. More information as soon as we have more available.
