Ps5 Is Going To See Nintendo Switch
The past four Christmas seasons, especially during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, we’ve seen the Nintendo Switch sell out instantly every time there’s a restock… a console that’s now more than four years old and you’d think everyone has by now. But demand for new consoles increases around this time of year without fail.
Come October 2021, we’ll be surprised if you’re able to find a PS5 in stock. Some people have given up for now with the expectation that they’ll be able to buy the PlayStation 5 later this year. What these people don’t know is that a whole set of new consumers are going to want to the console right before Christmas. In other words, good luck trying to compete with that surge in demand.
When Are Retailers Releasing New Ps5 Stock
With PS5 stock having sold out across the Black Friday weekend, it’s unclear when more stock will arrive in the new year. Best Buy had a brief restock on Dec. 22, while GameStop held a huge in-store event on Dec. 23.
Stores are unreliable when it comes to giving prior notice for PS5 restocks. Some may announce that morning or the night before, while others just drop them with no fanfare. Retailers will, in all likelihood, have more stock throughout the coming months, so you’ll probably have several chances to grab a PS5. Inventory can vary between retailers, with some only offering online orders and others offering in-store pickup.
Part of the reason stock is so scarce is the ongoing pandemic and a global chip shortage that’s instrumental in making the PS5. It’s unclear when the semiconductor chip shortage will wane, but the Biden administration is looking to ensure something like this doesn’t happen again as it involves the tech industry at large.
During an earnings call in August 2021, Sony CFO Hiroki Totoki mentioned that the company had secured enough chips to hits its sales targets by March 31, 2022. The company should ship close to 15 million PS5 units by then.
John Lewis & Partners
John Lewis & Partners last had a PS5 drop at 7am on 3 November. As usual with the retailer, it didnt last very long, but it does always seem to drop at 7am like clockwork.
The retailer only appears to get a couple of thousand consoles or less each time new stock comes in, so were not expecting anything big the next time theres a drop. When it happens, we recommend checking out via the app people have seen more success through this method.

Walmart Ps5 And Xbox Series X Restock
The last drop we saw at Walmart before this was a month and a half ago on January 13 – that’s one of the biggest waits we’ve seen for a PS5 and Xbox Series X restock in the US for some time.
It doesn’t beat Amazon, though, which hasn’t had either console on sale since the end of 2021. Ps5 Controllers In Stock Now
The white controller is the standard one that ships with all PS5 consoles. It ran out of stock early on, but hasnt been too difficult to find in recent months. The other colors have flickered in and out of stock more often since release.
The Starlight Blue, Nova Pink, and Galactic Purple color schemes first arrived January 28, 2022. They add a splash of color to the PlayStation hardware family. Cosmic Red and Midnight Black debuted in June of last year. Midnight Red is a pretty fierce-looking accessory.
The black models color scheme calls to mind the standard PS4 and PS3 controllers. If you go the black route, you can also pick up a matching Pulse 3D wireless headset that takes advantage of the PS5s 3D sound capabilities. It also comes in white to match the console and pack-in controller.

That means Sony’s $100 discount is actually getting you a lot further than Microsoft’s $200 saving. Whether this is enough to sway the budget market towards Sony, however, remains to be seen.

What Is The Ps5 Price
The PS5 price is $499 . That puts it at the same price point as the Xbox Series X, but that shouldn’t come as a surprise to many, seeing as it’s difficult to imagine the PS5 price exceeding $500 when it’s up against the affordable spread put out by Microsoft.
However, the cheaper PS5 Digital Edition price is $399.99 , which does flag some concerns considering the Xbox Series S’s $299 price tag. However, the PS5 Digital Edition will run the same specs as the fully-fledged console, further cementing its position in the market as a high value for money option.
That means bargain hunters can still experience everything the PS5 has to offer while foregoing the opportunity to play physical PS4 and PS5 games or save cash by buying in the second-hand market. It’s an excellent proposition that will certainly capture those going for sheer value for money at launch.
Why Is The Ps5 So Hard To Buy
There are three big reasons why youre still struggling to get a PS5. The first is the most obvious: The system is really popular. Sony says the PS5 is its best-selling console and has already sold 10 million units since launch.
The second reason is the current chip shortage impacting most of the worlds electronics. Sony did say it has secured enough chips to meet its goal of 14.8 million consoles for the fiscal year.
As for the last reason, it comes down to bots. Resellers are using software to purchase a massive number of PS5s at once, leaving only a few for actual humans to buy. Retailers added various bot protections during PS5 restocks, but these restrictions only hamper resellers so much.

Ps5 Supply Won’t Recover Until 2022
Sony admits it can’t ramp up production of the PlayStation 5 quickly enough and the analysts we’ve talked to agree that the shortage won’t let up until 2022.
“I honestly don’t see this shortage getting better until next year,” Anshel Sag, Senior Analyst at Moor Insights & Strategy told TechRadar. “A big component of these console shortages is the fact that these consoles’ CPU and GPU are manufactured on the same process node as AMD’s rapidly growing CPU and GPU businesses for PCs.”
It’s not just Sony vying for these precious components either, according to Sag. “With Qualcomm and Apple taking up vast swaths of 5nm, there isn’t very much capacity left for vast jumps in demand even with process node optimizations.”
“Capacity isn’t easy to grow and the best thing that can happen to the industry is that PC demand cools off a bit now that everyone who needed a PC to work remotely has one. However, there still appears to be a lot of pent-up demand in the PC gaming segment which is still red hot and suffering from the worst GPU shortage I think I’ve ever seen in my 15-plus-year career.”
