The PS5 has been out for almost two years now, and while stock issues have plagued the console ever since it launched in 2020, restocks have improved massively over the past few months. However, there is still more drama ahead as PlayStation announced in late August that it would be hiking up the price of its consoles.
While were used to seeing consoles gradually fall in price as they age, the PlayStation 5 is doing the opposite. Just as the PS5 stock shortage woes were coming to an end in the UK, PlayStation announced that it would be increasing the price of both the PS5 disc and digital edition consoles by £30, and we have already seen this price change applied to bundles, too.
The price change came into effect on 25 August, with PlayStations CEO Jim Ryan blaming the price increase on the challenging economic environment. Were seeing high global inflation rates, as well as adverse currency trends, impacting consumers and creating pressure on many industries, he wrote in a blog post.
Based on these challenging economic conditions, has made the difficult decision to increase the recommended retail price of PlayStation 5 in select markets, Ryan added.

Though Amazon Canada doesn’t appear to restrict PS5 sales to Prime members, it seems like a long time since the console was available to buy. We’d suggest keeping an eye on that product description in case it’s updated with any information about exclusive early access for Amazon Prime members as that’s helped nail down restock dates in other regions.
Walmart: PS5 | PS5 Digital Edition
Walmart has a PS5 restock landing page that delivers regular updates on the console’s availability. More often than not it states that the PS5 is unavailable but points you towards Walmart Canada on Twitter to get the most up to date news.
Best Buy: PS5 | PS5 Digital Edition
As well as online, Best Buy encourages you to check local stores for any availability of PS5 consoles. Sometimes the console store pages are updated with a notice that says ‘Coming Soon’ but that doesn’t give a clear or specific indication of when the PS5 will be available to buy. Even though it isn’t Sony’s fault directly, the PS5 sales don’t look good for the company, especially when compared to last gen’s console. As Daniel Ahmad reported on , the PS4 sold 20.2 million during the same timeframe.
Comparing these sales with the current PS5 situation, it’s clear that Sony hasn’t been able to meet expectations despite the high demand since the console came out. But why is this happening?
Unfortunately, Sony’s facing two major issues. First is the global health crisis. The global pandemic caused another problem: a global chip shortage. Many chip manufacturers haven’t been able to supply as many semiconductor chips as companies need. Since pretty much any electronic device uses these chips, Sony hasn’t been able to produce as many consoles as the companyand customerswould like.

The second biggest problem is scalpers. Some unkind people buy too many consoles to sell them at a higher price. And even though there are measures against this, scalpers have still found ways to snatch a lot of consoles.

When Will The Ps5 Be Back In Stock Shortages Expected To Last Well Into 2022
The PlayStation 5 could prove frustratingly elusive for gamers well into next year, Sony‘s chief financial officer has warned.
Sony’s next-gen console has proved enormously popular since launching in November last year and immediately flew off the shelves. Restocks have been sporadic and limited ever since, partly due to a shortage of components.
The situation isn’t expected to change anytime soon, according to Sony’s CFO, Hiroki Totoki. Speaking to analysts after the Japanese tech giant announced its financial result on April 28, Totoki warned demand would continue to outstrip supply.
“I don’t think demand is calming down this year and even if we secure a lot more devices and produce many more units of the PlayStation 5 next year, our supply wouldn’t be able to catch up with demand,” he was quoted as saying by Bloomberg.
Totoki, however, admitted Sony would have to increase production to meet the ongoing demand.
In its financial report, Sony said it had sold 7.8 million units of the PS5 through to March 31 and it expects to sell at least 14.8 million during the current fiscal year. Should the target be met, it would put the PS5 on track to match the PlayStation 4 in terms of sales. Since launching in November 2013, the PlayStation 4 has sold 115.9 million units worldwide, at an average of approximately 16.5 million per year.
Best Buy Ps5 Restock Date
Best Buy used to offer PS5 restocks on Friday afternoons, but the retailer has been known to restock on Thursdays and even on Mondays. In other words, it no longer follows a set pattern. A few things to keep in mind: Best Buy’s drops always occur during the afternoon hours and they always offer the consoles at list price: $499 for the PS5 and $399 for the PS5 Digital.

Definitely, a computer browser with a dedicated refresh button is better than any app, although plenty of people get PS5 from the Walmart app.

Walmart will sell the PS5 Horizon bundle online for MSRP, meaning $549. Sony hasnt been able to keep up with PlayStation 5 demand to the point in which the console ever sits on store shelves, so the restock quantity will be limited at Walmart .
In other words, be prepared to pay $499 plus state tax. Thankfully, no bundle is ever required from Walmart. Youll only need that Walmart Plus membership. Thats good news because GameStop PS5 bundles cost more than $700 on things you may not need to buy, or things that you are at full price.

Massive Ps5 Restocks Seemingly Coming To Walmart
It looks like there could soon be massive restocks of the PlayStation 5 appearing in Walmart stores. The PS5 as a whole is coming up on its second anniversary of release in early November. Despite this, Sony‘s current-gen gaming console has remained nearly impossible to get ahold of, especially for those that want to merely buy the platform directly at stores. And while it seems like the PS5 will continue to still be scarce as the holidays approach, one encouraging image has now come about that suggests better availability.
Shared to Reddit recently, one user posted a picture of a shelf full of PS5 consoles at a local Walmart. As a whole, over 10 PS5s were available to buy at this specific location. And while the appearance of a video game console on a Walmart shelf wouldn’t normally be noteworthy, this is one of the first instances in which this has been seen since the arrival of the PS5. In response, many other Reddit users expressed both shock and excitement to see that PS5 stock seems to be improving.
