Ps4 Vs Xbox One: Versions And Resolutions

XBOX GAME PASS vs. PLAYSTATION NOW: Which one is better? | Xplay

The PS4 has two versions: there is the standard PS4/PS4 Slim , thats only capable of displaying HDR or high-dynamic range and the PS4 Pro thats capable of displaying 4K resolution.

On the other hand, theres three Xbox One variations. The base Xbox One, which is comparable to the base PS4. Then there is the Xbox One S, which isnt just HDR compatible but also 4K-ready this is comparable to the PS4 Pro. But then there is the more powerful Xbox One X that displays 4K resolution and HDR natively at 60 frames per second. Sony has no comparable console on the market.

Xbox One S Vs Ps: Online Services

Microsoft charged for its premium Xbox Live service from the off and the investment certainly paid dividends, with a technically great service that simply worked.

Sony offered multiplayer online gaming for free, but always lagged behind in terms of the number of players and the smooth-running of the service the hacking of the PlayStation Network and its 24-day shutdown in 2011 being the obvious low point.

However, Sony introduced its excellent PlayStation Plus service, giving quality free games away on a monthly basis. Now the two companies are converging, with Microsoft giving away free games with Xbox Live Gold and Sony requiring PS+ to play games online.

Winner PS4

You have to pay to play online either way. Microsoft has a better track record, but Sony is currently giving away better games.

Playstation 4 Vs Xbox One: Design

Since its launch, the PS4 design has been refined, with the latest models looking slimmer and more modern. The console is sleek and minimalist, with sharp angles that make it look futuristic without being overbearing. The standard PS4 still comes in black, but there are also white and gold versions of the console.

The Xbox One has been redesigned several times since launch, with both slimmer and more powerful versions of the console now available. The original model was bulky compared to its predecessor, but Microsoft overhauled its appearance with the Xbox One S. This offers a sleeker finish than the original model and comes in multiple colors, including white, black, and blue .

Difference Between PlayStation and Xbox

If the cost of basic modifications is too high, then you can pay attention to more affordable offers.

In the case of Sony, the price difference between the original PS 5 and PS 5 Digital Edition is minimal: just a few thousand rubles. This is due to the fact that the Digital Edition is a full-fledged PlayStation 5 with all functionality, only without an optical drive.

The Xbox Series S costs half the price of the Series X because its a big trade-off. The console does not have an optical drive, the solid-state drive is half that of the original, only 10 GB of RAM is provided, and the performance is four times weaker only 4 teraflops.

This is not a device that a gamer wants to see for games in 4K, but if such a resolution is not needed, the Series S will do. The model is still equipped with an ultra-fast SSD and supports the latest technologies, including ray tracing.

Series S also outperforms the flagship of the previous generation Xbox One X, which is more powerful only on paper. A more powerful processor and faster storage give the Series S faster loading and frame rates.

The result is almost a draw: it is more difficult to recommend the cut-down Xbox, while the cost of the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition in Russia is almost equal to the price of the original console so its difficult to call it a younger one. But its much better than the Xbox Series S, so the choice is clear between the two.

Xbox Series X Vs Playstation : Price And Availability In 2021

Both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X retail for $499 in the U.S., albeit with a cheaper PlayStation 5 Digital Edition in production, which cuts the price to $399. Budding Xbox owners wanting to save on next-generation gaming will need to consider Xbox Series S, which delivers much of the same but targeting HD TVs over 4K resolution. But the biggest challenge right now is their availability, with limited stock dominating the conversation around these devices.

The new Xbox and PlayStation consoles are hard to find in early 2021, with limited supply and record demand fostering a challenging landscape for buyers. Recent restocks continue to sell out in seconds, with a thriving resell market valuing the consoles with high price markups. That’s expected to continue throughout the year, only worsened by current world events.

Ps5 Vs Xbox Series X: Performance

Over the past 12 and a bit months since the PS5 and Xbox Series X launched there have been a suite of cases where one is better than the other in certain games.

The Xbox Series X has more overall power to play with but that doesn’t always mean it performs the best. Similarly, there PS5 has the faster SSD, but that doesn’t mean there’s much of a real-world difference in loading time between the consoles.

What we can say is the PS5’s exclusive games look utterly stunning with Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Returnal being some of the most visually striking games around. Horizon Forbidden West also looks incredible on the PS5, though it’s also a PS4 title.

The Xbox Series X doesn’t have any true exclusives dedicated to the platform, as all Xbox first-party games are available on Windows PC as well.

But it has Forza Horizon 5, which looks stunning and runs very well. Halo Infinite might not look as good, but it’s still striking and can run up to 120 frames per seconds, which isn’t something we see with many PS5-dedicated games.

In short, both consoles both perform extremely well, although the PS5 has slightly shorter loading times overall. You won’t be disappointed in the performance of either.

Pro Xbox One: Getting A Free Windows Pc Version Included With Your Xbox Game Is A Dream Come True

We always like to imagine a no-compromises gaming experience. Its this magical idea: that you could pop in a game and play it wherever you want. Nintendo even went as far as building their entire system around this hypothetical situation. Well, Microsoft is betting that if you own a Xbox One or a gaming PC , you might run into a scenario where its easier to play your game across more than one device. So why limit players? If you buy a first-party Microsoft game digitally, you get both an Xbox One and Windows PC copy. The best part? Third-party developers are starting to jump onboard. Suddenly you arent tethered to one box to enjoy your games its nice.

Ps5 Vs Xbox Series X: Which Is Better

XBox Series X vs PlayStation 5. Which one is better?

The PS5 and Xbox Series X do battle on specs, price, features and performance

After the longest-lasting console generation in the modern era of games, the new next-gen is finally here in the form of the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.

Sadly, even as 2021 draws to a close, both consoles are proving incredibly difficult to find. For the best chance of laying your hands on a console, check out our Xbox Series X stock and Sony PS5 stock pages.

This isnt like previous generations of console wars, which have tended to usher in a resolution revolution, because the leap to 4K and HDR was taken care of by the mid-generation Xbox One X and PS4 Pro. You might expect 8K to therefore be the big news here, particularly as each manufacturer suggested as much in its early marketing, but 8K is in fact not supported by either console.

Instead, the Xbox Series X and PS5 represent the frame rate and ray tracing revolution. Games are still in 4K, but they run faster, feel more responsive and look significantly prettier.

To some, that will sound like hot air, and the case against the new consoles will only solidify when we reveal that you dont need to buy one of them in order to play the latest games. With some notable exceptions, every game that you can play on a next-gen machine will also play on its predecessor.

Compatibility: Backwards Is Better

Both the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X are enhanced versions of the existing devices, which means they both play all previous and upcoming games from each respective platform, and they both work with all of the controllers and other peripherals released for those devices.

When it comes to games that havent been optimised for the PS4 Pro, Sony has a Boost mode, which provides more power to PS4 games that havent been specifically augmented to support the Pros extra power. The Xbox One X doesnt have a blanket solution like that, but many top older titles including MIcrosofts own Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, and more have been enhanced to take advantage of the new hardware.

When it comes to the word “compatibility,” though, most minds go to backwards compatibility and the PS4 Pro, like the standard model before it, has very little of that. It wont play any of your past PlayStation console discs, at any rate.

What you can do is play some old PlayStation titles via the PlayStation Now subscription service. But that costs £12.99 a month and doesnt work with every game and certainly not with the many PS2 and PS3 discs youve probably got stored in the attic.

On the other hand, all Xbox One models support hundreds of Xbox 360 games, both disc and digital, as well as a fresh handful of original Xbox games. And now some of those Xbox 360 games look even better on the Xbox One X, including Halo 3 and Fallout 3.

Early Problems With Ps4

In mid-November 2013 when the first PS4 units started shipping, many customers reported that the units they received were dead on arrival.

In spite of these problems, Sony reported strong sales of the console. The company said they sold 1 million units on the first day and expect to sell 5 million PS4 consoles in the first 5 months of launch.

Ps4 Vs Xbox One: Graphics Comparison

In this section we’ll be comparing the graphical performance of the Xbox One S with the base PS4, as well as comparing the more powerful Xbox One X and PS4 Pro consoles.

FIFA 18

FIFA 18 does very well on the PS4 Pro and the Xbox One X, with native 4K video output available on both. Despite the differences in the specs of the two machines, there isn’t too much to separate the two versions of the game.

Digital Foundry’s analysis of the two versions suggests that the only real difference is a slightly better draw distance for the grass on the Xbox One X version of the game.

We’d be wary about drawing too many conclusions about what this says about the relative capabilities of the two consoles. We’d say this is probably a matter of EA having not quite pushed the Xbox One X to the limits of what it’s capable of.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War

It’s a completely different story when it comes to Middle Earth: Shadow of War.

Although the game doesn’t run at native 4K on either console, it runs at a slightly higher resolution of 1980p on the Xbox One X compared to the PS4 Pro’s 1620p.

Beyond resolution Digital Foundry notes that there are a number of other improvements present on the Xbox One X version of the game. This version has much better textures thanks to the improved memory bandwidth the hardware offers.

The overall result is an image that’s much clearer overall on Microsoft’s console.

Diablo 3

Ps4 Vs Xbox One: Apps

Gaming : PS5 vs Xbox Series X Which is more powerful?

The Xbox 360 and PS3 proved to be more than just gaming machines, and Xbox One and PS4 are no different. Of course, most third-party apps are shared across both platforms.

One key difference between the consoles as they currently stand is access to 4K streaming services. While you’ll have to opt for the more expensive PS4 Pro if you want 4K streaming services on a Sony console, both the Xbox One S and X are capable of 4K streaming.

In terms of the apps themselves, all next-gen gamers have access to Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Spotify, Hulu Plus, Crackle, Vudu and Redbox Instant as well as baseball subscription service MLB.TV.

Xbox One corners the app-filled market with ESPN, Fox Now, FX Now, NFL, TED, The CW, Twitch, Univision Deportes, Verizon FiOS TV and YouTube. It also has Microsoft’s own OneDrive, Skype and Xbox Music and Xbox Video services.

That contrasts with PS4. Sony’s console features Crunchyroll, Epix, NBA Gametime, NHL GameCenter Live, YuppTV, the WWE Network, VidZone, and Sonys own foray into being a cable provider with PlayStation Vue.

Initially, Xbox One had first access to HBO Go before PS4, but now both consoles have the premium channel as an app at least, if your cable provider in the US isn’t Comcast. And, even if it is, both systems now support HBO Now, which lets you view HBO programming without a cable subscription.

More niche apps are expected as time goes on, so this is hardly the final list of apps for Xbox One and PS4.

Ps4 Vs Xbox One: Which Gaming Console Is Better

PS4 or Xbox One? Find the right console for you

Which gaming console is right for you, the PS4 vs Xbox One? Thats something gamers have asked for years. But, despite what some people will try claiming, there’s no definitive answer on which last-generation console reigns supreme. Like everything in life, it’s down to you and your preferences. This guide will help you make an informed decision to find out which one you should buy.

To be clear, the PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S are the best and newest next-gen consoles that you can buy today. So, while the PS4 and Xbox One are now officially considered last-gen, it doesn’t mean they should be dismissed outright.

We say this because new games are still releasing that work well on both older consoles, like Halo Infinite and Horizon Forbidden West. This is great news for anyone without the budget for a new console who still wants to play the latest titles.

Whats more, if youre just interested in playing games – and you arent overly concerned with the latest hardware, features, and native 4K resolutions – you can pick up the PS4 or Xbox One for an excellent price right now.

Just be aware that you’ll struggle to find places where you can buy the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro new. Thats because they’ve been discontinued, though both are available second-hand.

Ps4 Vs Xbox One: Outside Of Gaming

So you’ve got the techs, the specs, and the games. But, what can these consoles offer you if you’re not bothered about anything to do with that, and are just purchasing the console as a gift? Well, that’s where it gets interesting.

Both the Xbox One and PS4 have a pretty solid foundation for those who want to use the console outside of gaming. However, the Xbox One does have more options. For example, while both are able to play Blu-ray DVDs with no trouble as long as they are from the correct region, though it is only the Xbox One that supports Dolby Atmos and 4K Blu-rays.

The Xbox One also makes it easier to switch over between watching TV and playing video games. The PS4 does ‘okay’, but with the Xbox One you’re able to transmit your cable box’s TV signal without having to go out of your way to plug out your HDMI cable, insert it into your cable box, etc.

That said, Xbox One and PS4 both have a number of different media apps, giving you more than enough options from big, major media giants like Netflix, NOW TV and Hulu, to stuff like Crunchyroll and Animax.

Furthermore, both consoles allow you to play your own media, including music, from your USB. Of course, it is advised that you label your files correctly and put them in folders, but apart from that, all media files can be played through the selected console’s media app. And just like Spotify and apps like it, you’re able to listen to your songs whilst doing something entirely different with your console.

Xbox One Vs Ps: Hardware

The PS4 Slim and Xbox One S are both impressively sleek, offering attractive designs that look great under a TV and can fit into a backpack without a problem. The newest PS4 has a slight edge in terms of sheer smallness, though it lacks an optical input for high-end gaming headsets.

Sony’s 4K-ready PS4 Pro has a chunkier, hamburger-like design, while the Xbox One X, which is even more powerful than the Pro, is somehow slimmer than the Xbox One S.

Both consoles start with 500GB of storage that you can easily expand by connecting one of the best external hard drives for PS4 and Xbox One. PS4 owners also have the option of opening up their consoles to swap in a new 2.5-inch or SATA drive.

Each controller has its perks the Xbox One pad has textured grips and can be customized via the Xbox Design Lab, while Sony’s DualShock 4 is highly ergonomic and has a touchpad and reactive lightbar. The PS4 controller is the only one that supports micro USB charging right out of the box Xbox One owners will need to rely on AA batteries or buy a $25 charging kit.

Thanks to the $299 PlayStation VR headset, PS4 is the only of the two consoles to currently support virtual reality. The PSVR’s game lineup has grown quite compelling over the years, too, headlined by such major titles as Tetris Effect, Resident Evil 7, Astro Bot: Rescue Mission and Moss.

There’s currently no equivalent for Xbox One, and it doesn’t look like Microsoft plans to bring VR to Xbox anytime soon.
