Refund Request For A Year Long Fallout 76
Hey there,
I unknowingly had the recurring bill on for the year long fallout 1st subscription on xbox and just got charged the $100 yesterday. I’ve gone to the “request a refund” page and it just shows an old purchase I had made from in store currency but there is not indication that i can submit a request for the year long fallout 1st subscription. I quit playing this game a couple months ago because they no longer produce major updates and I have no need or no interest for a year long fallout 1st membership. Wondering if I need to wait a few days for this to show up on the refund request page, since it just got billed last night? Or is it just not at all refundable? And I haven’t played the game probably since October so that shouldn’t be any issue.

Fallout 76 Custom Worlds: How Do They Work
New features were added to Fallout 76 with the release of Season 6. One of the more prominent features added is custom worlds. Custom worlds are the replacement for Fallout 76s battle royale game mode, Nuclear Winter.
Custom worlds allow players to host private sessions of Fallout 76 and apply game-changing effects to those sessions. Much like the previous private worlds, custom worlds can only be set up by Fallout 1st members. Hosts can invite their friends to these sessions, but the friends will need the host to be online to rejoin those sessions later unless they have an active subscription to the game. Custom worlds can support up to eight players at a time, just like private worlds can.
When creating a custom world, players have three submenus of settings to customize their world. The Workshop menu allows for the customization of settings surrounding the building and some aspects of crafting. These settings allow options such as allowing objects to be built and crafted at no cost, allowing more objects to be placed in C.A.M.P.s, or allowing the width and height of a C.A.M.P.s building radius to be extended or shrunk.
The combat menu contains settings for PvP and PvE combat as well as legendary effects. The menu allows the host to raise or lower equipment durability, disable legendary effects on weapons and armor, change the amount of damage players take and deal, and more settings relating to combat.
Fallout 76 Adding Customizable Private Servers For Fallout 1st Subscribers

When Bethesda released Fallout 76 back in 2018, players almost immediately began asking for private servers. And when they got those private servers in 2019, players had another request: make the servers customizable. This one’s taken longer.
Here we are in 2021, and Bethesda’s announced a new set of features called Fallout Worlds. Starting in September, players with private servers will be able to customize their experience and choose their own server rules.
“Combine unlimited combat AP and infinite ammo to become a mighty wasteland warrior, configure creature spawns for serious big game hunting, control weather effects such as fog, nuclear radiation, or even Quantum Storms, turn on absurd jumping heights , enable ragdoll physics, change the height limit on settlements all this and more are yours to play and experiment with as you see fit,” says Bethesda’s announcement.
“Utilizing a wide list of customizable settings, players can construct C.A.M.P.s in previously restricted areas or even remove the need for electricity to establish a builders paradise.”
Note that private servers are only available to active Fallout 1st members, who can invite up to 7 other friends to play on their server . As a reminder, Fallout 1st is $12.99 a month or $100 for a year’s subscription.

Is It A Fair Price
In terms of pricing, Fallout 1st is very expensive. Considering it is just some in-game benefits to give you an upper hand over other players, a lot of money is charged to give you this. Perhaps there are some overheads with private servers, but the fee of 14.99 is very high when you compare it to something like Xbox Live or PlayStation Plus where you get access to games each money and multiplayer access to a lot of other online games.
With this being said, it is what it is. Fallout 1st is expensive but if this is the only game you plan on playing for a few months, the benefits this subscription brings may soften the blow that comes with the pricing of this.

The amount of time you save not having to carry junk around and not having to manage your stash space will give you lots more time to enjoy the combat and exploration elements of Fallout 76.
The value of the subscription will depend on your circumstances. Since you can purchase one month and cancel, the general recommendation for people is to purchase it for a month, fill up the scrapbox and if you hate it at the end of the month, cancel the subscription. You will still be able to take items from the scrapbox, you just wont be able to add items to it anymore.

Is Fallout 1st Worth It
Fallout 1st is a supplementary online subscription that will grant Fallout 76 players some additional in-game benefits that standard players do not receive. This would be a less than common subscription model for a game like this where the barrier to play would normally be locked behind a monthly subscription. If you do not need to pay to play the game, what reason is there to purchase this subscription in the first place? Is Fallout 1st worth the money?
With a fairly hefty monthly fee, Fallout 1st is not something that people will be jumping to purchase. Especially when the benefits that come with it do not really jump out at you. I made the jump a while back to purchase a subscription and I have had some time to get the hang of it. Here is how I feel about the subscription and whether it provides enough value to make it worth the cost.
New Scrapbox Is Invaluable
Early in the game, the 800lbs limit of the stash crate seems like a lot. When you hit the limit, however, things get difficult. The new junk stash crate fixes this. You can store infinite junk. Junk being crafting materials such as concrete, lead, screws and so on. You cant store guns or anything like this, only junk. You would be surprised how much space this saves in your regular stash box. One of these new boxes can be found in your survival tent too, making life even more convenient.

Fallout 76s Flawed Subscription Service
The filing cabinet debacle is a symptom of a bigger issue surrounding Fallout 76s paid subscription service its value for money. Since Fallout 1sts launch, players have been questioning Bethesdas inclusions in the service. For example, many take issue with how private worlds and unlimited storage space are only reserved for Fallout 1st members, given that these were highly requested ever since the games release. In the end, it was a question of whether these relatively basic features should be put behind a steep paywall.
Whats more, these features werent even bug-free upon release. Players reported that their private worlds were actually joinable by anyone on their friend list and not invite-only. However, the developers assure that there are plenty of special features planned for premium subscribers, such as mod support. Though over three years later, this has yet to be implemented, leading to more criticism. As it stands, Bethesda looks to be advertising its subscription service with potentials rather than existing features.

Are The Benefits Worth It
There are a few benefits that come with a Fallout 1st subscription. The atoms to spend in the atom store each month may or may not be worth it for you. I personally find them quite useless as I do not care about building a big fancy camp. This may hold value for others who do enjoy the cosmetic side of the game.

The Filing Cabinet Controversy
The Fallout 1st subscription service costs $12.99 a month and $99.99 a year. It promises players private, customizable worlds, unlimited storage, and a range of exclusive discounts. Once a month, subscribed players also get a free item, which can be anything from armor to skins, and even objects for camp building.
For January 2022, Fallout 76s free premium item was an Open Office Filing Cabinet, similar to the filing cabinet model from Fallout 4, but with a noticeably cleaner exterior. Unsurprisingly, players were not happy with the first free item of the year, especially considering previous options, like a range of Abstract Paintings, a Crocolossus Statuette, and a functional Downed Plane Generator. Additionally, players pointed out that the Clean Office Cabinet another office cabinet variant could easily be claimed as one of the rank rewards from season three. This makes the Open Office Filing Cabinet seem far less exclusive.
With the damage already done, the Fallout community has taken to poking fun at the Open Office Filing Cabinet, posting sarcastic responses and even making memes about it. Given that Bethesda is making no move to change its premium item of the month, the criticism is likely to continue.

Fallout 76 Is Free To Play All Week And You Can Even Try The Fallout 1st Subscription Service
Everyone is invited this week to see if Fallout 76 is good now.
Bethesda has revealed a number of free trials and discounts for Fallout 76. From October 20 to 26, the game will be available entirely free on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
What’s more, the often ridiculed Fallout 1st subscription service, is also available for non-members to preview. Fallout 1st costs $99 per year, and includes various perks such as private servers, unlimited storage, free in-game currency and more.

Longtime player since B.E.T.A. 1300+ hours in the game, 5 characters between levels 100 200. FO76 is the first game I’ve ever preordered. Purchased about $60 of atoms over the year prior to the launch of Fallout 1st, which I immediately subscribed to for a full year when it was announced. I have a job that allows me to have a bit of discretionary income and I don’t mind supporting the game studio that brought me Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3 & 4, and FO76. Or at least, I didn’t.
I’ve always been quiet about it around this sub, but because of the latest outrage, I feel the need to mention that I created the #1 most downloaded and endorsed Transfer Settlements blueprint for FO4 on Nexus. Obviously, building is a huge factor in the appeal of FO4 and FO76 for me. So when I say that this latest bullshit move against the camp building system is just one in a long string of them, you can take my word for it.
I have camps on 3 characters that I haven’t moved in a year or more because Bethesda keeps taking away all the little tricks that make building cool stuff possible. I am terrified of moving these camps because I won’t be able to create them again with all the tiny holes they keep poking in the camp building system. It shouldn’t be this way. I should feel free to move a camp and know I can make something to rival my last camp. But instead, Bethesda has created a system where a top-tier builder is afraid to build anything.
