How To Fix It When A Ps4 Wont Turn On

    PS4 Won

To troubleshoot a problem where your PS4 won’t turn on, perform each of the following steps in order.

  • Interrupt power to the PS4. First unplug the power cable from your PS4 for at least 30 second, and then plug it back in. Once it’s plugged back in, you can attempt to turn the console on.

  • Power cycle your PS4. Turn the console off by holding down the power button even if the console seems to be off already. After the lights stop flashing, or about 30 seconds have passed, remove the power cables and let your console sit for at least 20 minutes. Press and hold the power button again, while the console is still unplugged. Then plug the console back in and see if it will turn on.

  • Try a different power cable. If you have another power cable available, remove the current cable and try the other one.

Your PS4 uses a standard IEC C7 power cable, which is the same cable used by the Xbox One S and a variety of other electronics devices. If you don’t own any such devices, these cables can be found at most electronics stores.

  • Try a different power strip or outlet. If you’re using a power strip or surge protector, it may have gone bad. Check to see if other devices work using the outlet your PS4 is connected to, and try plugging your PS4 into a different outlet.

    Perform A Factory Reset

Lastly, theres an option to completely reset your PS4. If its stuck in the Safe Mode boot loop, you can perform a factory reset. This article tells you exactly how to do that.

This option will delete everything, your games, progress, and profile from your console. Upon restarting the device, sign in using your PlayStation credentials. You should be able to re-download all of your content back to your PS4 from the store.

Remove Dust From Inside The System

Some people open up their console and can hardly find the hardware under all of the brown dust and dirt. High powered electronics are dust magnets. A huge amount can build up inside the console, restricting airflow and causing the console to overheat. If your system is clogged full of dirt and dust, it will be the cause of your problems.

Take apart the system and use compressed air to remove as much dirt as possible from the system. There is no need to completely break the system down into every component. Just take off the shell to be able to blow the air out of the fan and away from the CPU. All of the heat comes from this.

You should remove the power supply to check for dust underneath this. It only takes 4 screws to do this and is quite easy to do. Almost like it was designed to be easy to replace. It is worth popping this off to check for dust underneath.

Solution 4 Check The Apu Problem

In some cases, the APU of the PS4 console may not be soldered to the motherboard properly, which can lead to PS4 cant work normally and turns off randomly. For this problem, you have to get a replacement of the APU unit from Sony.

Since each PS4 console is made with unique APU units, it is not easy to find a replacement unit on the market. To avoid any APU problem, its recommended that you provide an extra cooling and put it to sleep after excessive use.

Free Up Space On The Ps4 Hdd

    Playstation 4 problem…why won’t my ps4 turn on?

A full PS4 hard drive may not seem like a big deal, but all those files can reduce the amount of functional space your console needs to work. A good rule of thumb is to leave at least 10 percent of the PS4 hard drive unused, which allows for virtual memory and fragmentation.

Problems of a Full PS4 Hard Drive

A hard drive thats too full can slow down your PS4 system, causing freezes and crashes . Think of it this way if you have a storage trunk thats jam-packed with stuff, taking up every available inch of space, itll make it harder, and take longer, for you to find what youre looking for. The same principle applies here. Your PS4 console also needs a certain portion of the hard drive kept free to act as virtual memory, where it stores data while the RAM clears. Memory-intensive operations can cause the PS4 to freeze if there is not enough virtual memory space left to act as an overflow. It can also result in the PS4 not turning off.

    Clear the Clutter

Games tend to take a lot of space on your PlayStation 4s hard drive. If your PS4 is getting close to capacity limit, you may need to remove older games you are no longer interested in playing to make room for new games. That will mitigate the burden on the PS4 system and help it function smoother and faster.

    Extra Storage

If you simply cannot bear to part with the tens of AAA titles, thousands of photos and hundreds of hours of video on your PS4 system, consider getting additional storage space for your PS4.

Dust And Clean Your Playstation 4 Console

Dust and grime buildup will cause system errors for your console if you let it get bad enough, causing stutter when you play the best PS4 games, or even keeping them from running entirely. Also, some homes are more prone to dust than others. If you notice build-up on your PS4, you may need to look into getting a dust cover. Having one will help protect your console when it’s not in use. To clean up your PlayStation 4 properly, here’s what to do.

  • Point the nozzle of the compressed air at the vents. Make sure to keep it about 1-2 inches from the vent.
  • Keep the can upright to prevent any moisture from going into your console.
  • Spray in short measured bursts.

  • Periodically look into the vents to ensure you’ve gotten all the dust.
  • Take your microfiber cloth to clean any dust or residue that may have broken loose and claimed space elsewhere on the console.
  • Use the microfiber cloth to wipe down the top, side, front, and back of your console.

  • If the microfiber cloth is dirty, change the cloth out. Do not rinse the cloth and continue to wipe while it is wet.
  • Once you’ve cleaned your PlayStation 4, follow the instructions below for updating your console and rebuilding your database. Neither of those options will affect the saved files on your PlayStation 4 and correct any issues your console is experiencing. Finally, boot up your console after you’ve completed all of those steps. If you’re still booting in safe mode, it’s time to use your last resort option.
