How To Setup Game Share With A Friend On Playstation 4
Full disclaimer before we get into this walk through. I do not have a Playstation 4 and therefore have not been able to test out this method for game sharing on the PS4. I know that there is a way to game share on the PS4, so hopefully one of these methods works for you guys.
And honestly, the method is pretty much the same as the game sharing method for the Xbox One.
What Is Game Sharing
Game sharing is intended to allow you to be able to purchase one copy of a digital game on your Playstation 4, and have the ability to play it on a 2nd console within your household. Basically it is intended so if you have two PS4s in your house you dont have to buy two copies of the digital game in order to play on both consoles. And yes, it only works across two consoles, you cant add a third.
The beauty of this process is that there is nothing currently limiting this setup to only working within the same network or household, so you can game share with a friend across the country if you choose to do so.

Things To Keep In Mind
With either of these methods, make sure that you dont log in to the other persons account while they are playing on the other console. If I hop onto my wifes account to redeem a game code that I receive while shes playing, the PSN will only allow her account to be logged in to a single PS4 and automatically kick her off without warning.
DLC/Season Passes/Microtransactions
It should be noted that occasionally things like DLC and pre-order bonuses will not carry over, especially if its not a downloadable expansion. For example, Fallout 4s expansions carry over and can be used by both of us, but the Z7 Imp variant in Garden Warfare 2 was only given to my wifes account for the pre-order and did not carry over for me. Its definitely less expensive to only have to buy two copies of a DLC than it is to get two copies of the game though, so its a small hurdle in the off chance it comes up. Make sure to test and see if the DLC actually does carry over to both accounts before making a redundant purchase.
PS4/Vita Crossbuy
The last thing to keep in mind is PS4/Vita crossbuy. One of the major downsides to my home setup is that any Vita crossbuy games are not redeemed on my account. With the Vita currently only able to have one user logged in, redeeming the games on my wifes PSN account takes away my ability to download it on my Vita. Look into Vita crossbuy compatibility before determining which account gets the download.
Warnings When Gamesharing On Ps4
While gamesharing sounds like a great idea, you should be aware of some potential issues before you do it.
If possible, we recommend doing this process in-person on both systems. Otherwise, you’ll have to trade usernames and passwords remotely. Giving someone else one of your account passwords is never a good idea.
You can change your password after completing the above steps and the other person will still have access to your games, but they won’t be able to get into your account.
Remember that performing the above gives the other person access to your PlayStation account. That means they could use your saved payment method to buy games, or potentially make changes to your account. Only do this if you really trust the other person.
If either person ever buys a new PS4, you’ll have to repeat the above steps to get gamesharing working again.
Finally, if you ever need to deactivate a PS4 you can no longer access , you can log into the Sony account management page and choose Device Management > PlayStation Systems > Deactivate All Devices.
Unfortunately, you can only do this once every six months, so don’t use it unless you really have to.

Remember the good old days of buying games on discs and cartridges? Back then, it was far easier to share the game simply by borrowing one of those. However, once we got digital games, there was a question: can we share any game and how? Luckily, Sony PlayStation allows game sharing with friends and family through the Share Play feature.
Unlike before, there is no physical exchange of media. All you need is for both sides to have a PlayStation Plus subscription.
However, there are some minor limitations to sharing. Also, you can share the game as many times as youd like, but only two people can play simultaneously.

How To Share Play On The Ps4
here s how to use the Share Play feature with a friend : 1. On the Invite Players screen, add the supporter you want to start a party with by searching for them, or select them from your friends list. Follow the instructions and choose Send Invitation. 2. I technically do it, the difference is my friend doesnt have a PS4 yet. He is PS3 and Vita only currently.
To do it you need to have whoever owns the account where the games are purchased’s PS4 NOT the primary PS4 and the other person the primary PS4. So for example
- Person A’s account has all the games purchased
- Person B’s PS4 is set to be the primrary PS4 on Person A’s account
- Person B accesses Person A’s games via gameshare on ANY account located on that PS4
- Person A can access all their games ONLY when logged into their PSN account but no other user on that PS4 can play them if that user is not logged in on that PS4.

How To Activate A Ps4 As Your Primary System
To activate a PS4 as the primary console for your PSN account, select Settings> PlayStationNetwork/Account Management> Activate as Your Primary PS4> Activate.
Remember that you can only activate one primary PS4 per account, and you can only deactivate it from that console, so you probably dont want to try the following methods of sharing digital games with people you dont implicitly trust.
Keep These Things In Mind
Digital DLC and Season Passes will be accessible by both PS4 consoles even if it is only purchased on one of them, however in-game content like weapon skins, clothing, etc. are linked to a PSN account, so if you buy a weapon skin, only you will have access to it and your friend will not.
So as I mentioned, its very similar to the game sharing on the Xbox One, although Im not sure if there is a limit on how many times you can set a Primary PS4, like there is on the Xbox One.

How To Gameshare On Ps4
1. On the console that you want to share games with, log in with your PlayStation account.
2. Select “Settings.”
4. Select “Activate as Your Primary PS4.”
5. Confirm this choice by selecting “Activate.”
That’s it now, your friend will see all your games in their library, and can download and play them.

Is it safe to do?
I have a buddy who gameshares with his brother, whom lives out of state.
I’ve seen my buddy access his brother’s PS+ library on the PS3 but his brother does not have access to my friends account. However, my buddy mentioned me hasn’t tried to access his bro’s content on his PS4 just yet due to mixed opinions on people getting their accounts banned and whatnot and he got me wondering on this as well.
Do any of you guys gameshare on both PS3 and PS4 on your friends/family account safely?
- If so, how exactly do you perform it?
- How long have you been doing it
- What are the exact things to watch out for.

Ps4 Game Sharing With 3 People Tutorial
Just to clear it up, the 3rd person is the holder of the account. It is NOT 1 owner and 3 other people. Also In case you do not know what PS4 game sharing is. Its exactly what it sounds like. Sharing games.
Step 1: Put your account as secondary on your PS4. Your first friend can activate his PS4 as your primary PS4. You can find this option in the settings: Settings > PlayStation Network/Account Management > Activate as Your Primary PS4 > Activate.
Congrats, If you made it that far, youre in typical PS4 Game sharing mode: your friend can play and download your games without using your login information because his PS4 is your primary PS4. You, on the other hand, can still play and download your games on any PS4 because you have your credentials. You can stop here if you only want to share your games with one Friend, but keep reading if you want to share with a third person.
Step 2: After the first friend has downloaded the games he wants, tell him to launch a game. Only Launching.NOTE: I dont have any proof that you NEED to do the launch thing,But Ive read it on some places so worth trying anyways
Step 3: After this, Login to the PSN Site Online and select the Deactivate devices setting. Do tell your first friend not to sign in again though Can mess things up. The games will still work on his console as long as you do this.NOTE: This deactivate option is only available every 6 months, so if youve already deactivated it once, sorry no way past that.
