As first reported by MP1st, PS4 software version 8.50 has begun rolling out for beta testers around the world. Apparently, the 8.50 test period is dubbed the “Spring 2021 beta” by the official email invitations from PlayStation, and it would seem that the headline feature of this update is to remove Communities on PS4 consoles, which will be riding off into the sunset once the 8.50 update launches worldwide.
Elsewhere, another feature of the 8.50 update is to turn group notifications on and off. With just a simple toggle you can pause and resume notifications from any group. Other features contained within the new update include the ability to stop other players seeing you playing a game that you’ve previously opted to “hide” within the PS4’s systems menu.
Finally, there’s a slight change to the Request to Join feature. With update 8.50, you can now use the Request to Join button to join the game of the session leader, who will then be able to invite you into the specific match or game.

The newly released PlayStation 4 version 8.00 software update rolled out to console owners today, adding a number of new features while taking away a couple of minor ones. Not mentioned in Sonys update announcement, however, was a new notification that has caught players off guard and raised concerns about privacy one pointing out that voice party conversations may be recorded and the audio may be made available to Sony moderators for review.
Its always a great day when Sony releases a console update, at least when the update isnt buggy and brings features users actually want. The new software update version 8.00 has, unfortunately, slipped in one particular notification that spoiled the entire release for some players: Sony now directly warns users that by joining a voice party, theyre agreeing to have their conversations potentially recorded and sent to Sony for moderation.

For Microsofts console, it is impossible to remove the hard drive, so they enabled the option of using external hard drives. But you need to know if they are compatible with the console. There are two requirements for hard drive to have:
- It must have at least a 256GB capacity.
- It must have USB 3.0 technology.
When we connect a hard drive to any of the USB inputs, we will receive a notification in the console indicating that the unit must be formatted for the console to run games and applications without any problem.
In the case that we do not receive the notification to format the disk, we can do it manually by following the steps below:
- Scroll left from the Start screen to open the guide.
- Select Settings.
- Select System and then Storage.
- Select the storage device and then, Format games and applications.

How To Increase Ps4 Storage Using An External Hard Drive
The other option is to directly use an external hard drive. Sonys requirements for the external hard drive are:
- It should have USB 3.0 technology
- Minimum 250GB, maximum 8TB capacity
The console might ask us to format the hard drive, if it doesnt you can do it manually by entering Settings > Devices > USB storage devices.
In the external hard disk, you can install applications and add-ons, no matter if the application is in the internal hard disk, the updates will be downloaded in the place where the corresponding applications are installed. You will not be able to save application data, themes, screenshots or videos on the external hard drive.
Disable Complete Download Notifications
To disable your completed downloads notification, go to System Settings > Notifications. On this screen, you will have the option to disable your Download Complete notifications by simply selecting Off. Afterward, you wont receive any more notifications for completed downloads for all Switch users on your console.

How To Increase Ps4 Storage Using An Internal Hard Drive
Unlike Microsoft, Sony offers us the option to change the internal hard drive without breaking the warranty. PS4 also has some requirements for a hard drive to be compatible:
- It should be a 9.5 mm or thinner internal type.
- Only ATA Series are supported.
- Hard drives must be 5400 RPM, as 7200 RPM drives are not officially recognized by Sony.
Previously the maximum capacity was 2TB, but after some updates, this console supports up to 4TB.
After selecting the disk we want, the process will be much more complex compared to the Xbox One, we must create a backup.
To have access to the hard drive of the console, we will have to remove the cover of the bay, considering that we have everything disconnected. To remove the cover you only have to make a little pressure as shown in the following image:
Then we will have to remove the screw and we will be able to pull the hard disk out from there.
Now we need to remove the four screws that hold the hard drive, without extracting the rubber pieces that come in the holes of the screws.
Now we can place the new hard drive just like we removed the old one. Reverse the process.

The PS4 will restart, so youll need to press the PS button on the controller to get back to the main menu.

Sony today announced the latest update to the PS4s firmware is currently in beta. Aside from the usual claptrap about UI clean-up and new tabs and blah blah blah, it revealed that youll soon be able to delete old notifications from your menu.
Out of all the other things coming to Update 5.50, its the notifications Im most excited about. I prefer to keep things relatively clean, and, with its notifications for everything from tips to updates for games not touched in months, my PS4 can be a thorn in my side. If youre like me, then, when the update rolls out, youll be able to go to the notification screen, bring up the options menu, and delete one or more of the little devils at once.
Other updates include the ability to put limits on playtime for your childrens accounts, ensuring they only play a certain amount per day. The update post says the child will be given a notification when they are close to their daily limit, after which they can be automatically logged out if the parent wishes.
