How Many Copies Did Spider Man Ps4 Sell

Don't Miss

Despite Launching On Two Platforms The Sales Of Insomniac’s Spider

AMAZON SELLING SPIDER-MAN PS4 GAME OF THE YEAR COPIES

Spider-Man Miles Morales is a great game, but it’s a lot less popular than 2018’s Spider-Man release on PS4.

Spider-Man Miles Morales is among the best games released this generation, and is a pure next-gen spectacle on the PlayStation 5. Sadly, sales aren’t as high as the game’s performance.

According to SuperData, Spider-Man Miles Morales sold 663,000 digital copies at launch despite releasing on both the PS4 and PS5. That’s a 70% reduction in sales from the original Spider-Man game. The 2018 Spider-Man moved an estimated 2.2 million digital copies at launch, meaning it sold roughly 1.53 million more copies than Miles Morales.

It’s worth noting the cross-gen game wasn’t direct sequel and instead was . Insomniac has confirmed they’re working on a new Spider-Man sequel alongside Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

Sony has yet to reveal official sales figures for Miles Morales just yet, but we expect to see those soon–along with confirmed PS5 shipments/sales.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales sold 663K digital units across PlayStation 4 and 5. Sales of the Sony-published title did not compare to the launch of Marvel’s Spider-Man in September 2018 . However, the title was not billed as a full sequel, and sales were significantly higher than those of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, a PlayStation exclusive of similar scope.

Sony Should Feel Good About Releasing Ps5

The sales performance for Miles Morales reveals Sony could likely get away with releasing even its biggest games exclusively on PS5. With the exception of Demons Souls, all of Sonys retail PS5 games have also launched on PS4. But Miles Morales shows that people want to associate even cross-gen games with the next-gen console.

And that makes sense, right? If you are someone considering purchasing a PS5 at some point in the next year, why not wait to play Miles Morales until you get the best experience?

So for Sony, if people are already thinking of a cross-gen game as primarily a PS5 release, it doesnt matter if you have 115 million PS4s in the world. And while it might make sense to think a company shouldnt ignore such a huge customer base, those owners might already be ignoring PS4 versions of PS5 games.

For PS5 owners, this could mean that Sony might feel better about focusing just on its newest hardware. And that might mean fewer resources spent on a PS4 version of God of War: Ragnarok that can go into making the PS5 release even better.

Webslinging Pays Really Well

Spider-Man: Miles Morales developer Insomniac Games is seeing massive success for their current gen follow-up to the very popular Spider-Mann on PS4, which was released in September 7, 2018. That game was one of the most anticipated titles of the previous generation, and was received with critical acclaim for its exciting, fun rendition of Spidey’s New York City.

Currently,;Spider-Man: Miles Morales has sold over 4.1 million copies worldwide, according to;GamesIndustry.biz. The numbers were revealed in a Sony earnings call, which definitely goes to show that people are enjoying the game on both the PS4 and the newly released PS5 console.

The high sales figures are also likely due to the game being released on the PS4 and PS5. Obviously, two markets are better than one. While the game;performs and looks better;on Sony’s current-gen console, even owners of older-gen PS4s can still enjoy the title and whatever gameplay and story opportunities it offers for one of Marvel’s most beloved characters.

If you’re keen on trying out;Spider-Man: Miles Morales today, it’s currently priced at $49.99 for the Standard Edition, and $69.99 for the Ultimate Edition on the PlayStation store for the PS4 and PS5 platforms. But we’d really suggest that you play on the PS5 so you can experience amazing ray-traced visuals and buttery-smooth framerates.

The Context For Miles Morales’ Release

For starters, Miles Morales got caught up in a wave of PlayStation 5 chatter that dominated conversation. The console’s preorder chaos, limited stock and meteoric initial sales not only captured headlines, but also capped Miles Morales‘ sales potential. The game truly thrives on PlayStation 5, but not many players were able to get their hands on the machine. While it was available on PlayStation 4, the incentive to purchase it there was lessened. On top of that, November was an incredibly busy month for new game releases across every platform, and Miles Morales was perceived as lower-priority. Without the draw of Miles Morales being a next-gen showcase, last-gen players focused on other experiences.

After all, for as great as the game is, it was hit with a lower price tag and mixed messaging that trapped it somewhere between DLC and standalone side story, both in the eyes of the marketing campaign and player base. In some respects, it’s a fair point. The game is demonstrably shorter than Spider-Man, and it reuses a lot of that game’s foundation. As such, the release lacked the urgency and scope that a full Spider-Man 2 would have carried.

It’s pretty interesting to see these sales numbers.PS5 has 3 exclusives? Ratchet & Clank, Demons Souls and Returnal. They’ve sold 10 million consoles but it seems like a large majority of the next-gen console owners are just using them to play last gen games.

JaksGhost said:An install base of 10 million compared to an install base of 100 milion + and don’t forget one has only been out for a couple of months while it took the other a couple of years and a PC release to reach that benchmark.

TheCockatrice said:It’s a rogue-like with a not so good looking protagonist. Not exactly a stellar game that will appeal to the masses, besides being overpriced. Sony saying the game did well was only because they expected it to sell poorly considering the genre however that does not mean it sold enough. Its price will drop a lot more in the coming months. Thats when I’ll grab it.

tommib said:Ive said it before and Ill say it again, PlayStation will not be lowering prices. Prices will stay high for much longer than expected. Theyre pulling a Nintendo on their prestige PS5 games, which Returnal belongs to. You better stay sitting if youre waiting for the digital version to drop in price apart from intermittent sales. Physical copies though can be found for your acceptable expectations.

Ps4 Sales Hit 916 Million Spider

  • 90 million users are on PlayStation Network according to Sony
  • India has around 400,000 PS4s
  • Spider-Man’s sales were over a two month period

Sony has announced that the PS4 and PS4 Pro have sold through over 91.6 million units globally. Between November 19, 2018 and December 31, 2018 more than 5.6 million PS4 and PS4 Pro units were sold. Furthermore, Spider-Man PS4 sold 9 million copies worldwide from September 9, 2018 to November 25, 2018 across both disc and digital downloads. We’re no experts, but it seems that Sony has had a very lucrative holiday season with the PS4 family of consoles selling strong despite debuting five years ago. It’s possibly proof that while neither console has the best specifications, a strong library of games makes the PS4 or PS4 Pro worth considering for most gamers.

“Thanks to the continued support from our fans during the holiday season, we are pleased to announce that PS4 has reached 91.6 million units globally. We are also happy to announce that the monthly active users of PlayStation Network continues to show strong growth, and has surpassed 90 million as of end of November 2018,” said John Kodera, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Insomniac’s Hit Shifted Over Four Million Units In Seven Weeks

Having launched on November 12, Insomniac’s game had shifted these copies by December 31, 2020, Sony said in its earnings call.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales was the PS5’s biggest launch game in the UK, though sales didn’t quite reach the height of 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man in the country. The title debuted at No.3 in the UK charts, with 71% of its sales going to PS5. Sales for the title were boosted around Christmas, with a 45% rise that helped it climb to No.6.

In Japan, Spider-Man: Miles Morales sold 18,640 copies in four days, making it the top-selling PS5 game in the country at the time.

2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man was the fastest-selling superhero game in US history, the biggest PlayStation exclusive launch ever, and it drove a 65% increase in games profits for Sony back then. As of November 2020, it had sold 20 million units worldwide.

Sony today shared its financial results for the three months ended December 31, 2020, announcing that the PS5 had sold 4.5 million units worldwide. Sony’s Game and Network Services division reached $8.4 billion in revenue during the quarter.

Despite Being A Ps5 Launch Title That Was Still Available On Ps4 Miles Morales Sold Much Less

Spider-Man PS4 Officially Sells Over 9 MILLION COPIES!!! Gigantic PS4 Sales!!!

  • Age limit: From 12 years
  • Release date: 12 November 2020

HQ

Marvel’s Spider-Man from 2018 became a huge hit for Insomniac Games and Sony that sold really well, and it was always expected that there would be sequels released. Only two years later, it was time for Spider-Man: Miles Morales in time for the PlayStation 5 launch, and it was also released for PlayStation 4. But despite being available on two formats, the sales of the game is way lower than the predecessor.

This is revealed by the Nielsen analysts at Superdata. They write that Spider-Man: Miles Morales has sold 663,000 digital copies on PlayStation 4 and 5. This should be compared to Spider-Man that launched with sales of 2.2 million copies.

They also note that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla outsold Assassin’s Creed Odyssey with more than 50%, probably helped by the fact that Cyberpunk 2077 was delayed. It is also noted that Valhalla despite this has lower in-game spending as a stand-alone booster microtransaction isn’t considered necessary in the new adventure.

Outpacing The Biggest Exclusives

What’s even more amazing is that;Spider-Man: Miles Morales is actually outselling a few of the biggest PS exclusives of the current generation, namely Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Tsushima and the highly-touted The Last Of Us Part II by long-time PlayStation developer Naughty Dog, reports;VGChartz.

Currently, Spider-Man: Miles Morales is at fifth place in the past 12 months in terms of sales, outpacing Ghost of Tsushima and The Last Of Us II which are in seventh and eight places, reports;Pushsquare.com.

It hasn’t, however, outsold bigger cross-platform games like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Madden NFL 21, Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. It is worth noting, though, that the critically acclaimed PS Exclusive God Of War , which was the;fastest-selling PS4 exclusive;ever, wasn’t even on the current top 10.

As for the top 5 games on the list, it’s quite expected that the newest Call of Duty games are selling the most copies right now due to their very popular multiplayer components, most specifically Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, which is running alongside the extremely popular battle-royale multiplayer title Call of Duty: Warzone.
