Price: Advantage SonyThe PlayStation 4 costs $399. It launched on November 15 in the US, followed by November 29 in Europe and Australia, December for much of Asia, and February 22 for Japan.
The Xbox One is priced at $499. It will launch on November 22 in most countries worldwide.
The boxes: Aside from Kinect, more similar than differentThe most obvious reason for the price difference is that every Xbox One includes a dedicated Kinect sensor for motion control and other functions. The PS4’s somewhat similar PlayStation Camera is optional .

Ps5 Vs Xbox Series X: Verdict
As we mentioned right at the start, this is a new console generation unlike any before it; a console generation that doesnt unlock gaming in a new resolution, and doesnt bring with it a raft of new games that can only be played on the new machines. That leaves the PS5 and Xbox Series X having to justify their next-gen credentials in other ways, and Sonys console does this far more effectively than Microsofts.
That could well change in the future. This first batch of cross-platform games is also cross-generational. Almost every one of them has been designed to run on no fewer than ten consoles, from the original Xbox One to the Series X on one side, and the original PS4 to PS5 on the other, so expecting them to be fully optimised for next-gen is just silly. Once fully optimised games become a reality, likely in the next year or two, perhaps well see performance gaps between the PS5 and Xbox Series X appear but, for now, there just arent any of real significance.
None of which is to say that the Xbox Series X isnt a very good console. It delivers on its performance targets, its near-silent at almost all times, its decidedly compact next to the PS5, and its controller has had some neat little tweaks. It just doesnt go quite far enough, particularly in comparison to the PS5.

Ps4 Pro Vs Xbox One X: Performance And Graphics
The Xbox One X is incredibly powerful on paper. It has a new custom eight-core CPU clocked at 2.3 GHz and an impressive new custom GPU clocked at 1.17 GHz. This GPU includes features from AMD’s Polaris architecture and offers up to 6 teraflops of computing power.
The Xbox One X also has 12GB of GDDR5 RAM. Microsoft says this is enough for rock-solid 4K gameplay at 60 frames per second. The Xbox One X also supports High Dynamic Range, as well as AMD’s FreeSync to prevent screen tearing.
The PS4 Pro has the same AMD processor as the original PS4, but it has been overclocked to 2.1 GHz. The eight-core GPU also includes features from AMD’s Polaris architecture and offers a formidable 4.2 teraflops of computing power. It has less RAM than the Xbox One X. Its Boost Mode has led to increased frame rates in some PS4 games, but user and press reports have stated that frame rates aren’t always consistent. Some of this variability depends on the game. For example, PS4 exclusive Horizon Zero Dawn ran capped at 30 fps, while outputting at 4K on the PS4 Pro.
Winner: Xbox One X. Simply put, its CPU and GPU are more powerful than the PS4 Pros, and Microsoft is promising 4K gameplay at 60 fps.
Do The Ps4 And Xbox One Support Vr
If youre looking to break into the world of VR with your console, theres only one choice: PS4. PlayStation VR is the only headset currently compatible with a console, and its only supported by the PS4.
Unfortunately, theres no way to use a VR headset with the Xbox, so that kind of takes them out of the competition by default. PSVR is one of the cheapest ways to get into virtual reality, and if thats your main interest this console generation, then go for the PS4.

With the release of the Xbox One X in 2017, Microsoft raised the bar on console performance. But it faced stiff competition from Sony’s PS4 Pro, which beat the Xbox to market with a 2016 release. Both focus on 4K gaming and streaming, but there are plenty of differences. Although both consoles are now in their twilight years, with the Xbox Series X and PS5 looming over the horizon, there’s still reason to look at buying these consoles today. Xbox Series X Vs Ps5: Price Comparison
The Xbox Series X price and PS5 price are identical.
Microsoft’s disc-based Xbox Series X console retails for $499 / £449 / AU$749, while the standard PS5 is also $499 / £449 / AU$749. It makes choosing between an Xbox Series X pre-order or a PS5 pre-order bundles a tough choice.
One of the reasons the PS4 proved the more popular console during the last generation was the fact that it launched at a more attractive price point of $399.99 / £349.99. That was a relative steal compared to the $499 / £429 Xbox One, which at launch had to factor in the cost of its ill-fated Kinect motion tracker. The Kinect was initially hailed as one of the key differentiators between the consoles, but proved unpopular with both developers and gamers, leading to Microsoft slowly phasing it out in an effort to drive the price of the overall package down with later console revisions.
Neither has made that mistake with their new consoles making the top-tier versions identically matched. It’s the digital-only versions then where the real differences become visible.
The digital-only Xbox Series S lands at $299 / £249 / AU$499 while the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition comes in at $399.99 / £359.99 / AU$599.95.
But it’s not a like-for-like comparison. Microsoft’s digital console is weaker than the others it focuses on 1440p resolution instead of 4K, and targets 60/120 fps. With the PS5 Digital Edition, however, it’s exactly the same spec as the standard edition ;just minus that physical disc tray.
Ps5 Vs Xbox Series X: Which Should You Buy
While the Xbox Series X and PS5 are close on price and performance, the big question is what kind of games you want to play and, importantly, how much you want to pay for them. If you can sacrifice the Sony exclusives, then Xbox Game Pass is a dream if you dont want to spend the earth on games and especially if youre a Bethesda fan. In turn though, with its bold choices around the DualSense controller, the PS5 feels like more of a new gen experience and has a VR option on the way. Truthfully you arent going to lose with either and it might just be a case of choosing which console to buy first. ;

Ps4 Pro Vs Xbox One X: Bottom Line
Round by round, the Xbox One X comes out on top. Youll get stronger performance for both old and new games, even in 4K; a wide back catalog thanks to backward compatibility with Xbox 360 and the original Xbox; 4K streaming; support for 4K Blu-ray discs; and the most stable online gaming network around.
What youll give up with that, though, are the best exclusives on the market, which still belong to the PlayStation 4 Pro. That console can also play games in 4K, though its games have had varying frame rates. Its also the only system with a VR headset on the market. Oh, and its $100 cheaper, which is a serious price advantage.
Both systems will stream Netflix and Hulu in 4K, and will support games in both 4K and HDR. But the Xbox One X is the more powerful system and has backward compatibility, while the PS4 Pro is a better value and has more exciting exclusive content.
Ps4 Pro Vs Xbox One X: Game Library
Xbox may have a more powerful console now, but it still needs to deliver on exclusives. Both consoles have third-party titles from the likes of Electronic Arts and Ubisoft, but those companies in-house titles make their systems more desirable.
Sony has many celebrated titles, including The Last of Us Part 2, , Bloodborne, Uncharted 4, and God of War. All PS4 games released since 2017, and a few older too, can be played in 4K resolution on the PS4 Pro, if you have a 4K-compatible TV or monitor to use with it.
Sonys PlayStation Now subscription allows you to play select PS3 titles for $20 per month. Or, you can shell out $15 per game to play a whole bunch of PS2 games that have been modernized with 1080p upscaling, Remote Play and Share Play.
Xbox has a few of its own first-party exclusives, like Gears 5 and Forza Horizon 4, but its lineup is not as varied or as widely well-received as Sonys.
The Xbox has a big trick up its sleeve: backward compatibility. Xbox One got access to Xbox 360 games last year, and this year, Microsoft announced that Xbox One systems will be able to play games from the original Xbox as well . Additionally, Xbox allows certain games, like ReCore and Halo Wars 2, to be shared on both PC and Xbox via the Xbox Play Anywhere program.
Winner: Tie. While Xbox gains ground with backward compatibility and shared play with PCs, the PS4 Pro still has more of the best exclusive titles you can get on current-generation consoles.

The Power Of The Next Generation
November is the start of gadget season. For Sony, that means you get games like Knack and Knack 2, The Last of Us, Uncharted 4, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Bloodborne, God of War, Nioh, The Last Guardian, and more. For Microsoft, you’ll get games like Forza, Halo, Gears of War, Dead Rising, and more.
The last major “difference” is the online service offered by Sony and Microsoft respectively, Playstation Plus and Xbox Live Gold.
