Check The Status Of The Playstation Network

It is also a good idea to check around online and on social media for any other reports of PSN being down. If its a widespread problem, youll be sure to hear about it very soon on social media and other channels.

You can check the current status of PSN here. It will auto-redirect to give you the status of the network in the country you are based in. Sometimes the Playstation Network can be down in some countries and regions and fine in others.

Here are some other social media channels to check in with for updates when the Playstation Network is down:

Use these links to keep up to date with what is happening with the PSN in your area. If its a more general outage affecting lots of people, it will be very quickly become obvious and Sony will be onto it trying to fix it ASAP.

Sometimes however, all the official channels will show PSN as online even when its not for a lot of people. Again you will hear about this very quickly through more unofficial channels.

Psn Down: Whats The Problem

PSN is down on both the PS3 and PS4, with its issues being noted on the official PlayStation site.

You may have some difficulty launching games, applications or online features, a status update on the site reads. Our engineers are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, and we thank you for your patience.

The Ask PlayStation Twitter account also notified its followers of PSNs problems, tweeting: Were aware that users are having issues accessing some features on PSN. Thanks for your patience as we investigate.

Try Changing The Mtu Value On Your Ps4

The main solution that has been known to work sometimes in allowing PS4 users to circumvent PSN outages has been to change the MTU settings on your PS4. This method allowed some users, though not all, to get around the outage in late 2014.

Why this is the case in unclear, but it did work for some people. It is worth giving a go. Here are the general steps for changing the MTU value on your PS4:

  • Go to Settings..Network..Set Up Internet Connection
  • Select Wi-Fi or LAN depending on your connection.
  • Click Custom
  • Click through all the setting as they are without changing them, until you get to MTU Settings.
  • For MTU, switch to Manual
  • Enter 1453 or 1473 for the MTU value. If one doesnt work, try the other.
  • You can also try other values from 1450 upwards if you want. See also our article on the best MTU for gaming for a more precise method of finding your optimal MTU value.
  • Finish Setup and Test Connection. The PS4 should now be able to get online.

NB. If the Network Sign in on the Connection Test still fails after you put in the new MTU value, then dont worry, just attempt to sign back into PSN manually and it usually works. The rest of the connection test usually runs through as normal after making this change.

There are also other networking settings you can change on your router and PS4 which can get you back online, but these are more solutions for home networking or ISP errors than errors with PSN itself. Here are some other things you can do:

WHEN will PSN be back? – Sony Playstation Network Hacked/Error/Maintenance/Update

If the status pages clearly tell you that PSN is down, then proceed onto Step 3 to change your MTU value. You can come back to these options later if all else fails.

If the Playstation Network doesnt seem to be out checking the status pages, or you cant access the internet to find out, then it is a good idea to check your PS4 and home network settings to make there isnt a problem there either.

If its just you that seems to be struggling signing into PSN, and not others, then its a pretty clear sign something is wrong at your end that is stopping you connecting.

Here are some quick things to try to fix this:

  • Quick reset your router and PS4.
  • Power cycle your router and PS4 by fully unplugging them for 10 minutes, before powering them back on in the right order, router first, and then the PS4 once the router has fully initialized.
  • Make sure your router is updated to the latest firmware.
  • If youre on WiFi and the signal is weak, either move closer to the router, try resets or move onto a wired connection if possible. A powerline adapter

Psn Brought Back Online Service Restored To Users

Update #2: Try to head back online on your PS5 and PS4 consoles and you should be able to connect once more. After a DNS server error, the worldwide web and many services are coming back online. PSN included! Everything should all be back to usual now.

Update #1: The PSN service status website now reads: “PlayStation Network services are up and running, but there are external, internet-wide issues that might affect your experience. Once these external issues are resolved, you should have no problem connecting to PlayStation Network.” It’s not a problem on Sony’s end, but rather a much wider internet outage affecting many sites and services.

Original story: The PlayStation Network service that allows PS5 and PS4 users to connect online and play many multiplayer titles is currently offline, with lots of users flooding social media channels with complaints. The PSN service status website claims “all services are up and running”, but at the time of writing, that doesn’t appear to be the case. We’ve tested our own PS5 to find many services currently unavailable, such as online statuses, profiles, and the PS Store itself.

Playstation Services Will Be Back Soon Error Ws

PlayStation error code WS-116449-5 appears when the PlayStation Network services are experiencing interruptions. Thats why the error says services will be back soon after some maintenance. The error code will be resolved as soon as the PlayStation servers are restored to normal operations.

Thankfully, this is one of several error codes weve encountered with a description thats actually helpful. WS-116449-5 specifically states that PlayStation Network service is undergoing maintenance. Perhaps a new firmware is being installed, or a new patch is being deployed. It could even be an unexpected outage. Either way, theres nothing you need to do except wait until service is restored.

Of course, it is possible for this error code to appear outside of server maintenance. Its rare, but its possible. To make sure the problem is on your end and not the networks, be sure to drop by the official PlayStation server status page. If WS-116449-5 appears while services are experiencing issues, theres no cause for concern. You may also encounter error code WS-37505-0. But if it shows up when all services are online and functional, you may have a problem with your local network connection.

Sony: Playstation Network Is Back Online Now Really

PlayStation Network Back Online This Week, Sony Offers ...

News Editor, IDG News Service|

After giving gamers false hope on Saturday, Sony now says its PlayStation Network has been fully restored after a Christmas Day attack that knocked it offline for about three days.

At around 1 a.m. U.S. Eastern Time on Sunday, Sony declared its online gaming platform fixed and, as it had done the day before, blamed the problems on a distributed denial of service attack.

PlayStation Network and some other gaming services were attacked over the holidays with artificially high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. This may have prevented your access to the network and its services over the last few days, wrote Catherine Jensen, Vice President of Consumer Experience at Sony Computer Entertainment America, in an update to a blog post she had published originally on Saturday.

The company jumped the gun early Saturday when it trumpeted that the PlayStation Network was gradually getting back to normal, announcing the good news at around 4 a.m. via its Ask PlayStation Twitter account and triumphantly changing the PlayStation Network status to online in the support website a few hours later.

But it soon became obvious that the problem was far from fixed yet when by early afternoon the status of the PlayStation Network had been changed to offline again, and the Ask PlayStation Twitter account updated to say that Sony engineers were again looking into reports that users were having sing-in problems.

Playstation Network Back Online This Week Sony Offers Free Benefits To Users

·Andrei Dobra··

Sony has just announced that the PlayStation Network and the Qriocity services will be back online this week, as the Japanese company is finally ready to deploy its upgraded and more secure systems.

As almost all of you know, the PlayStation Network has been offline for the almost two weeks, following a hacker attack which managed to compromise the personal information of the 70+ million PSN users.

After the attack, Sony decided to take down the online service, in order to see just what damage was done and try to implement better security measures so that the situation won’t repeat itself.

Now, after a pretty long downtime, the PSN will be put back online this week, according to the Japanese company.

Sony revealed through a statement that this week would see the beginning of the “phased rollout” program, through which it would be getting portions of the PlayStation Network back online.

The first stage will see the PSN get back online gameplay functionality, for both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable devices, as well as access to the Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity service, account management and password reset, PlayStation Home, Friends List and chat functionality.

“All existing PlayStation Network customers will be provided with 30 days free membership in the PlayStation Plus premium service,” Sony said in its statement, while “current members of PlayStation Plus will receive 30 days free service.”
