How To Fix Playstation Vr Problems: Calibration Camera Controller Head

Got a problem with PS VR? Let’s fix it.

PlayStation VR is a fairly simple headset to set-up, with clear labelling and a great Quick Start guide. Once it’s set-up in your living room you’ll want to adjust the headset, screen and more for your own comfort and vision.

You’re also likely to come across a number of common issues that will require quick fixing on a fairly regular basis. Most problems can be solved easily, which is why we’ve put together this FAQ to fix PS VR problems such as head-tracking, calibration, recentering the screen and more.

Let’s break down the common problems you’ll encounter.

    Ps Vr Tracking Problems

It’s easy to spot a problem with tracking – meaning the camera is not properly able to follow your headset or controllers. Look out for the following:

    • The on-screen image/world is moving without any input from you.
    • The on-screen hands or controller is moving around without any player input.
    • You’re getting the Outside of Area message on-screen.

Firstly, double-check your set-up. Make sure all cables are plugged correctly. Now check all the lights on the headset are on. If you are in full VR mode all lights on the front and the back should be on. If only the lights at the back are on you’re in Cinematic mode.

Now check that the PS camera isn’t getting confused by other light sources, or not enough light. Other light sources include reflections in windows and other reflective surfaces such as mirrors, natural sunlight, TV screens, LEDs or lamps, and make sure the player isn’t sitting directly under a big light source. Also check that there is other ambient light and you’re not completely in the dark.

You can check reflections and other light sources by choosing the following options on the menu: Settings –> Devices –> PlayStation Camera –> Adjust PlayStation Camera. You can take the lights and surfaces out of the frame, or move the camera itself to take them out of the frame.

    Changing The Virtual Screen Size

How to Calibrate the PlayStation Move Magnetic Sensor ...

Changing this setting will modify how large the virtual screen appears inside the headset when using cinematic mode. There are three different sizes to choose from small, medium, and large. Choose whichever you like. This can also be adjusted from the Quick Menu by holding down the PlayStation button on the DualShock 4.

    Playstation Camera / Tracking

The PlayStation VR uses a single camera to track the movements of your hands and head via visible light. The camera can only see items within its cone-shaped FOV so it’s important to understand that Vacation Simulator uses almost all of this available tracked playspace. Therefore, we highly recommend mounting your camera on top of your television with the lens pointing slightly downward toward your chest. The camera should be fairly high– at head level or above if possible, depending on your living room setup. This allows for maximum tracking space.

7 feet back is required. You’ll need to be able to STAND 8ft back from the TV/camera to play Vacation Simulator. For example, if you have a couch at 7ft back, you’ll be fine. Note that there may be moments where you need to reach back further than this– If you have an actual wall back at 7 feet, you may have trouble reaching some items.

5.5 feet of width is required. When it comes to width, you’ll need 5.5ft of clear space to be able to reach all elements in the game.

Place camera high and point slightly down. This gives the greatest range of tracking availability for standing VR games.

    Lighting And Camera Calibration

PS VR uses the visible light spectrum to track your Move controllers and headset. If you have bright lights in the camera view, it can negatively affect your tracking quality.

Keep it dim. For the best tracking, you’ll want a dimly lit room with the blinds closed as the PS VR setup manual explains.

Test for stray lights. Stand where your camera is and face the direction it’s looking. Do you see any small lights? Big lights? Open windows? If so, resolve this, cover them up, or shut them off. This is also stated in the PS VR setup manual.

Don’t change your lighting situation. If you switch on/off lights in the middle of play, it may affect your tracking. Any time lighting changes significantly, the system should be able to adjust accordingly, but we’ve found that re-calibrating yor PS VR camera may help. See below!

Calibrate your camera. Follow these steps to recalibrate your PS VR camera:

    • Navigate to the âSettingsâ tab in the PlayStation menu
    • Move down to âDevicesâ
    • Select âPlayStation VR.â Run each of the calibrations listed below:
      • Adjust VR Headset Position

What Should We Know Before Doing It

The first thing we must know is that this process is totally harmless for the command. All we do is save a series of parameters in the Windows driver so that the data we get is interpreted in another way. Therefore, we can calibrate the controls as many times as we want without anything happening. We can even calibrate it wrong on a computer that, when going to another computer, or to a console, it will be unchanged and will use its default reading values.

Every time we calibrate a controller, we are calibrating Windows for that controller. That means that, if we connect a different controller, it will use its default values again.

Controls can be calibrated both wired and wireless . But it is better to do it by cable to obtain more accurate values during the process.

The Dualshock 4 Provides A Much Better Experience

How to Calibrate Wii & PS Move motion controller review

Finally, the Move is disappointing because Sony clearly could make something better if it had tried. The DualShock 4 gamepad that comes with the PS4 is evidence of that.

One of the coolest PSVR games I saw at E3 was Statik. It uses the DualShock 4 to track the location of both your hands in 3D space. Inside of the simulation, it wraps a strange mechanical device around your digital hands. This creates an intense sensation of presence because it brings your hands into the world with you in a way that your brain understands.

Ive played other PSVR games with the DS4, and unlike Move I never had to battle with the tracking or make due with inaccurate waggle controls. Sony clearly made improvements to its position-tracking technology when it made the leap from PS3-era Move to the PS4. So far, those leaps have not found their way into Move.

    Playstation Move Motion Controller

Q: Why is the sphere on the PlayStation Move motion controller colored? What does the color of the PlayStation Move motion controllers sphere mean?A: The sphere atop the PlayStation Move motion controller helps the PlayStation Eye camera to precisely detect the absolute position of the controller in real-life 3D space. Some games may change the color of the sphere according to gameplay, giving you visual feedback. The game can change the sphere to any color .

There is no default color, and the color of the sphere may change after calibration since the system will choose colors that will track well in the current environment. Q: Do you need to stand when using PlayStation Move? Do you need to sit?A: No, you do not need to stand. As long as the camera has a clear, direct view of you and the PlayStation Move motion controller, you can play while standing, sitting, slouching, reclining, etc.

How The Aim Controller Impacts Your Bravo Team Experience

How to Calibrate Wii & PS Move motion controller review ...

The guys at Supermassive Games got their first look at this peripheral before Bravo Team was in development and the team saw the potential straight away.

The chance to give players something that would mimic the physical feeling and stance you take when of holding a weapon was something that especially appealed and they felt would be instrumental in drawing players further into the world that was being created.

The early days of development saw the team using the Aim Controller to experiment with an assault gun style rifle. They would hold the Aim Controller high to look down the sights and take down targets and rest it gently in their hands as they lay in wait, ready to take aim at a moments notice.

As time went on, they looked at what weapons would best allow to integrate the rumble mechanics of the controller and provide accurate feedback to further enhance the feeling of firing a gun and draw players even further in. The storyline led them to try out shotguns and sniper rifles, both of which worked brilliantly with the peripheral.

Once we were happy with what players using The Aim Controller would experience, the development team wanted to look at what they could do to make sure that players using Move or DS4 controllers would have an equally great time.

    Ps Vr Picture Quality Problems

We recommend adjusting the screen for each game you play, and you’ll need to do it if you’re swapping the headset between players. Make sure you do the following for maximum comfort and optimal picture quality, and if you come across any distortion or interference with the screen.

    • If the screen has drifted or isn’t central to your vision, hold down the Options button and it will re-center itself. You’ll find yourself doing this a lot during play.
    • Clean the lenses with the microfibre cloth that came with the VR headset. Keep it dry, never use fluids.
    • If the image goes out of focus during play, or just doesn’t seem clear enough, press the PS button on your DualShock 4: Quick Menu -> Adjust PlayStation VR -> Adjust Headset Position. Now adjust your headset until the image becomes clearer.
    • Plug the headset directly into the VR processor unit. If this fixes the problem then there’s an issue with the VR connection cable. Make sure it’s not tangled or crooked. If the problem persists you may need to replace it.
    • Always check the PS Camera is set up correctly: Settings -> Devices -> PlayStation VR -> Adjust PlayStation Camera.
    • Did you know you can change the VR screen size between small, medium and large? Hold down the PS button and open the quick menu: Adjust PlayStation VR -> Screen Size.
    • If the edges of the screen are blurred, that’s an effect to mimic peripheral vision. It’s a feature not a bug! Move your head to see what was in the edge of your vision more clearly.
