2023 is looking set to be a pretty stellar year for gaming, which means this list will probably have at least a few new additions over the next 12 months. 2022 was pretty darn awesome too, from Horizon Forbidden West in February through to God of War Ragnarok in November, the Year in PlayStation was been pretty strong. What that all means is that there are some brilliant top PS5 games to enjoy already, with many, many more to come before the end of the year.
Sony’s console is home to so many fantastic titles, with a strong offering of PS5 launch games kicking off the beginning of the new-gen line-up back in November 2020. Ubisoft’s Star Wars Game

Lucasfilm Games has announced that is working with Massive Entertainment on an open-world Ubisoft Star Wars game. Now, apart from that, details are quite scarce – beyond that it’ll run on Massive’s own Snowdrop engine. We imagine it’ll take plenty of DNA from Massive’s The Division titles, so expect a game focused on photorealism with an action-adventure focus and added RPG elements when it does arrive. It’s clearly in very stages of development though, so don’t hold your breath for more info on this one any time soon.

PS5 restocks remain as elusive as ever as Spring begins to bloom around us. If you’re a gamer still hoping to get your hands on Sony’s latest console, you’ll have to be ready with the knowledge of where they’ll be and when. That’s why we’ve put together this regularly updated guide.
This week, has confirmed a PS5 Digital Edition restock for 11 am Eastern Time on Wednesday . Amazon Prime members will get early access to the restock and it’s likely the consoles will sell out before they reach the general sale, so do check you’re registered or sign up for a free trial .
In the UK, there’s been recent PS5 restocks from the likes of Game, Currys and Very, but they all went fast. Unfortunately, distribution issues, bots and the global chip shortage continue to hold up production of Sony’s in-demand console, but we’ll be keeping you posted on the latest PS5 restock news in our guide below.

Do We Even Need A Ps5 Pro
Technically, no, but in two or three years’ time, we might see developers encounter more hurdles due to the PS5s aging hardware that results in noticeable compromises in games, like lower frame rates or resolutions. A PS5 Pro could revitalize a lot of older games if they get enhanced as we saw on PS4 Pro, and the additional horsepower should ensure that newer titles arent held back, either.

Playstation 5 Price: Recent History
After much waiting, Sony announced the price and release date of the PS5 on 16th September 2020.
The company set the price of the PS5 Digital Edition at £360 / $400 / AU$599, and the PS5 disc edition at £450 / $490 / AU$749. That came as a pleasant surprise to those who’d expected the PS5 to be priced higher than the rival Xbox Series X.
In August 2022, Sony raised the price in certain territories, the UK and Australia among them. British buyers will now pay £479.99 for the standard PS5, and £389.99 for the PS5 Digital Edition without a Blu-ray disc drive. Australian gamers will now pay AU$799.95 and AU$649.95 respectively.
Prices are also going up in Europe, Japan, China, Mexico and Canada, but the US price remains unchanged.
With demand continuing to outstrip supply in 2022, finding a PS5 deal continues to be a challenge . Could the rumoured launch of the PS5 Pro in 2023/24 trigger a major PS5 price drop? Fingers crossed.
And here’s how the PS5’s price compares to that of its predecessors.
The original PlayStation and PS2 launched at £299 in 1994 and 2000 respectively. The PS3 was quite the step up in 2006, with the entry-level 20GB model starting at £425 although that was more or less in line with inflation with regard to the original PlayStation, and there were also the significant hardware upgrades to factor in, not least of all being the Blu-ray optical drive.
What Games Are Available On The Ps5
The PS5 event on Thursday, 11th June revealed more confirmed PS5 games coming to the console.
Some of the most eagerly anticipated PS5 games revealed include Godfall, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon Forbidden West, Oddworld: Soulstorm, Resident Evil 8, Demon’s Souls, Grand Theft Auto V, Hitman 3 and Gran Turismo 7.

As for whether you will be able to update games for the PS4 to the new console that is the case- for certain games at least. The recently revealed box art for Immortals Fenyx Rising, formerly Gods and Monsters, shows it will be indeed be something you can do- which should be reassuring to those worried they may have to fork out for the same game twice when they invest in the PS5.

Ps5 In 202: A Colorful New Look
So far the PS5 has only emerged in white, and while thats not going to change any time soon, Sony has at least finally unveiled plans to let owners customize their consoles with new plates.
Arriving in January 2022, the plates will come in Midnight Black, Cosmic Red, Nova Pink, Starlight Blue and Galactic Purple, costing $54 each. And there will be DualSense controllers to match, too.

So, does it matter if you get a new or old PS5 model? No.
While Sony has gone with a PS5 redesign, the differences aren’t all that significant, especially when it comes to the most important aspect how well it runs games.
Yes, there are variations in the fans and baseplate screw, and the heatsink has seen a drastic change. But none of this should affect your gaming experience.
The performance across all PS5 modelsâdisc or disc-less, new heatsink or notâis virtually identical. You can’t buy a better or worse PS5 model to run your games. So, wait patiently till you can get a PS5 and enjoy all this incredible console has to offer.
Where To Buy Ps: Avoid The Ps5 Scalpers
Unfortunately, one of the main reasons for the shortage of PS5 consoles is due to scalpers. These opportunistic people have been using bots to scan retailers for PS5 stock when it becomes available and buy as many of the consoles as they can in one go.
Once they have the highly-desirable console, they will then sell them for extortionate prices, often for thousands of dollars. Business Insider reported one reseller managed to get hold of 200 PS5 consoles and managed to sell them for more than $40,000.
While this isnt illegal, its not exactly the most morally sound thing to do. But at least its not as bad as some people whove been pretending to sell PS5 consoles on eBay by simply posting photos of the console and scamming people to bid for them when there was no PS5 on offer.
It might seem absurd to buy a PS5 for over $1,000, especially as its launch game lineup isnt particularly profound. But with the coronavirus pandemic seeing more people staying at home, some PlayStation fans are clearly desperate to get their hands on a new console to keep them entertained.
We advise you avoid buying from such resellers, fake or otherwise. At $499 the PS5 is still quite an expensive console and it currently doesn’t have a huge library of games. So if you can wait until later this year, youre likely to have a lot more PS5 games to choose from and Sony should have more consoles available.

Ps5 Pro Vs Ps: What Do We Want
As we saw from the PlayStation 4 Pro, a mid-life upgrade is all about running the same games but making them better, offering higher resolutions and faster frame rates.
While 8K TVs are now available, the sheer processing power needed to push that many processed, lit and textured pixels probably rules it out for at least another console generation. With that in mind, a Pro version of the PS5 is more likely to concentrate on getting 4K really right. This means games that run at that resolution without dynamically dropping it when a scene becomes complicated, and a rock-solid 60fps frame rate.
The PS5s current eight-core CPU is based on AMDs Zen 2 architecture from 2019. A move to the current Zen 4 could see greater processing ability as well as increased power efficiency, although that would likely play havok with backwards compatibility. It might also force developers to relearn the PS5s underlying architecture. A clock speed increase, like the one seen between PS4 and PS4 Pro, is more likely.
The same goes for the graphics unit, which uses AMDs RDNA 2 from 2020. Increasing the number of compute units and upping the clock speed could have a dramatic effect on its ability to push polygons.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
Insomniac Games’ Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is as triumphant a return as they come for the titular duo a visual showcase for the PS5, a well-written story right up there with the best Pixar movies, and simply a blast of a platformer from front to back. If you want something to show off what your PS5 can do, you can’t beat Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and it comes with the bonus of being an incredibly polished, well-made platformer/shooter even without considering its technical accomplishments.
Ps6 Specs And Hardware
The PlayStation 6 will surely improve in more ways than the features listed above, but since we’re several years out from launch, it’s not very helpful right now to guess what kind of hardware will be available then.
In general, though, expect a PlayStation with an even faster, more-capable CPU and more responsive controls.
An entirely made-up, just-for-fun concept video released by DZ Migo is one perspective of the console in terms of the design. Similarly to the creator’s other far-out concepts, it shows the PS6 as rugged and dark, with elements presumably taken from various versions of the Xbox, starkly different from the PS5. Then again, Sony could go the complete opposite direction and choose something minimalistic, borrowing design aspects from older consoles. At least, that’s the idea with this PS6 concept from Yanko Design:

The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is set to bring us back to Hyrule for another adventure with Link, only this time, Nintendo is expanding it even further by allowing us to explore the skies above. While we got the chance to see some gameplay for the sequel – which doesn’t even have an official title yet – during E3 2021, there’s still a lot of mystery surrounding everything it will include particularly when it comes to the story. While it was originally slated for release in 2022, Nintendo recently announced that it will now be coming our way in Spring 2023.
When Will The Ps5 Pro Ship And How Much Will It Cost
The name “PS5 Pro” comes from the convention Sony used for its upgraded PS4 console, the PS4 Pro, and there seems to be a consensus about that. MLID estimates the 2023-2024 timing based off Sony’s release of the PS4 Pro three years after the PS4.
The price of $600-$700 has been bandied about based on assumptions about typical $100 or so price differentials across models. But given how little we know about what will be inside, and not knowing when the current upward pressure on prices caused by shortages will end, it’s almost impossible to even guess. So $600 is as good an estimate as any for a slightly higher-end model.

The 2016 breakout indie hit Oxenfree is getting a sequel in the form of Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals. Developer Night School Studio is delivering us another supernatural mystery to unravel as heroine Riley returns to her hometown of Camena, but discovers a little more than she expected. Along with Riley, expect a whole new cast of characters, as the developer says it’s a new story that also offers an entry point into the games without having played the first entry. Although, you totally should play it!
Sackboy: A Big Adventure
Out now
Sackboy: A Big Adventure launched as a launch title for PS5, but also dropped simultaneously on PS4. However, it’s definitely best experienced on the newer console as the game really looks fantastic, and utilises the haptic feedback in the Dualsense to great effect. It’s Sackboy’s first foray away from the LittleBigPlanet name too, so don’t expect the creative elements of that original series here. This is a stunning story-driven title, with support for co-op too. It’s inventive, playful, and utterly adorable, so well worth a play.

Playstation 5 Price Vs Xbox Series X Price
So, how does the PS5 compare to the Xbox Series X on price? Better than many expected, as it happens.
The Xbox Series X and the full-fat PS5 are identically priced, at £449 / $500 / AU$749.
Both consoles also have a disc drive-less, cheaper sibling: that’s the Xbox Series S and the PS5 Digital Edition. This is where things get really interesting, because the Xbox Series S costs only £250 / $299,/ AU$499, whereas the PS5 Digital Edition is £360 / $400 / AU$599.
That’s a big step up, but it’s worth pointing out that the Xbox Series S is less powerful than the Series X but the PS5 Digital Edition is identical to the standard PS5 except for the lack of a disc drive. In other words, the PS5 Digital Edition is more of a proper next-gen games console than the Xbox Series S.
Pro tip: If you’re willing to buy a secondhand console, Amazon tends to offer Certified Refurbished Xbox Series X at bargain prices.
Playstation 5 Games Price
When NBA games publisher 2K announced the $70 / £65 / AU$100 price for its sports sim NBA 2K21, it effectively confirmed a PS5 games price hike.
The sum helped raise the standard by $10 from $60. You can also stream your favourite games as Sony recently launched an upgraded PS Plus.
To be fair to both Sony and Microsoft, games pricing has remained the same since the launch of the original Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2005. Between game production values having gone through the roof and 15 years’ worth of inflation, it could have been a lot worse for the consumer.
