When Is The Crash Bandicoot : It’s About Time Release Date

It was confirmed during the June 22 reveal that Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time would be released on

That’s a week earlier than the October 9 release date that was leaked before the official announcement. The platformer will be released just before the launch of next-gen consoles, which are planned for Holiday 2020, and games like Star Wars: Squadrons and Dirt 5. Still, not many platformers seem to come out around that time, so Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is a game that platformer fans should keep an eye on this fall.

Single-player, multiplayer

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is a 2020 platform game developed by Toys for Bob and published by Activision. It was originally released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with releases for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, Nintendo Switch, and Microsoft Windows following in 2021. The game is the eighth main installment in the Crash Bandicoot series and a retcon of the games that originally followed Crash Bandicoot: Warped. The game’s story follows Crash Bandicoot and his sister Coco as they recover the all-powerful Quantum Masks in a bid to prevent Doctor Neo Cortex and Doctor Nefarious Tropy from taking over the multiverse. They are indirectly aided by their former enemy Dingodile and an adventuring alternate-dimension counterpart of Crash’s old girlfriend Tawna.

What Is The Story Of Crash Bandicoot : It’s About Time

The game’s story directly follows up Crash Bandicoot: Warped. Crash and Coco have to stop Neo Cortex after he starts messing with the fabric of the multiverse. Their adventure takes them the various unique worlds and universes as they try to collect four Quantum Masks that will give them new power and help restore balance to the multiverse.

Overall, the story appears to be more lighthearted than some of Crash’s previous outings and basically just gives Crash an excuse to visit exciting new worlds and levels. It does make every game from Wrath of Cortex onwards not canon though.

Crash Bandicoot 4: it’s About Time will be released for PS4 and Xbox One on October 2, 2020.

Is There A New Crash Bandicoot : It’s About Time Trailer

Yes, there is!

During Gamescom Opening Night Live, Geoff Keighley showed another new video for Crash 4: It’s About Time. The trailer shows Crash, who is wearing a mask to cover his mouth, walking around the convention center in Cologne, Germany where Gamescom was supposed to take place. The video ends with the reveal of new Flashback Tape levels, but has not been released on its own yet.

Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy May Not Be Exclusive To Ps4 After All

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is coming to PlayStation first, but it might not be exclusive.

Ever since Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy was announced at PSX back in December, everyone just assumed the remaster would be PlayStation exclusive.

After all, the Crash games were always PlayStation titles, and Crash Bandicoot itself doubled as a mascot for Sony in the days when mascots mattered. It now seems, however, the collection may make it to other platforms eventually.

What sparked this is a – now deleted – tweet from PlayStation Ireland replying to a fan question. In the tweet, which you can see a screenshot of at NeoGAF, PlayStation Ireland said the game is a PS4 exclusive.

This is all inline with what’s been announced so far, until recently, when the same Twitter account clarified the earlier comment in a new tweet, saying that the N. Sane Trilogy will come to “PS4 and PS4 Pro first.” This is definitely the first time we’re hearing of this, but it makes sense.

Activision owns the Crash IP, and the publisher could have simply signed a timed-exclusive deal with Sony. At this point, it’s very likely the trilogy will come to other platforms later, after the end of that exclusivity period – though no other platforms have been announced at present.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is out June 30 on PS4.

Off To A New Dimension

After the evil Doctor N. Tropy and Doctor Neo Cortex begin working to assemble the Quantum Masks, Crash And Coco get contacted by one of them and pulled into a different dimension to stop their evil plan and save not only their world but other dimensions as well. Whilst on that journey they reunite with Tawna, Crashs old girlfriend and Dingodile who assist them. All four of these characters are playable, along with Neo Cortex, who for reasons I wont spoil, ends up being a pretty major part of the latter half of the game.

Whilst the narrative is simple, Toys For Bob have created an entertaining story which is paired with some truly excellent voice-acting, bringing these characters to life in a way I didnt expect for a game that revolves around its try-fail-try-again gameplay loop. The writing here also works well with the excellent performances, and the game is genuinely funny at points, poking fun at itself, Crashs history, and the fact that a whole bunch of games basically got cut out of the canon with Crash Bandicoot 4. Although, the lack of any Crash voice-acting did stick out during extended cutscenes.

This week features a number of big game launches, including the arrival of the Crash Bandicoot 4: Its About Time release date.

The good news is that the new Crash adventure will be available to play on PS4 and Xbox One this week, with other platforms a possibility in the future.

Theres been no word yet on a Nintendo Switch or PC port but it seems likely if things go well with the initial console release.

The game promises all the old-school action fans enjoyed from the N Sane Trilogy, with plenty of new features and gameplay promised.

A demo is already available to those gamers who have pre-ordered the game and a preload option is live on PS4 and Xbox One.

Spinning Out Of Sight

A few weeks later, in late 2013 still, Crash Bandicoot was spin-kicked off Activision’s website. It led to a swell of speculation suggesting that the rights to the ‘Coot had changed hands, but Sony stood strong and said no. The character’s still nowhere to be found on the publisher’s website to this very day.

Character And Story Development

Toys for Bob’s study of the series’ mechanics further inspired the inclusion of additional playable characters. Creative producer Louis Studdert cited this decision as the most difficult aspect of the game’s early development due to the series’ sizeable cast of characters. The selection was ultimately determined by who would best fit into the game’s core platforming tenants. The team then decided that the characters should fill particular narrative roles, with Cortex and Tawna respectively being positioned as a villain and “guardian angel“. Seeking a wild card to contrast both characters, the team reworked Dingodile into a chaotic neutral figure who causes mischief while attempting to get home. The characters’ distinct personalities allowed the team to find unique ways to fit them into the game’s plot and gameplay, as well as take the opportunity to introduce new platforming mechanics.

While acknowledging the universal appeal of physical humor, Toys for Bob sought to ensure that the game spoke specifically to its adult target audience. To this end, they included suggestive innuendos in some of the skin names and level titles ,:13:51 as well as edgier scenarios such as N. Tropy’s narcissism culminating in an incestuous relationship with his female self.:14:21 This direction influenced the self-aware script, in which the game’s nature as a retcon is humorously alluded to in one scene.:14:38

Characters Collectibles And A Whole Lot Of Extra Content

I mentioned earlier that Dingodile, Tawna, and Coco are all playable in Crash Bandicoot 4. Whilst, Coco is a skin for Crash and fundamentally they are the same character with no differences, Dingodile and Tawna get their own unique levels, along with Neo Cortex, who can also be played. These alternate timelines are offshoots of the main story levels.

Tawna and Dingodile are both introduced early on. Tawna is far less agile than Crash and Coco, but she can use a grappling hook to get around the levels, which creates some unique structures and opportunities that arent possible usually. Meanwhile, Dingodile is an absolute blast to play and I could take a whole game with him on his own, using his large suction cannon to hoover up crates and wumpa fruit. The feeling of annihilating everything around you and the rumble on the DualShock 4 when doing so makes him a blast to play and offers some of the most cathartic gameplay in Crash Bandicoot 4.

Neo Cortex plays entirely differently. He can only deal damage from long-range and is unable to double jump, but he is given a dash to off-set this disadvantage. His designated levels were my least favourite of the 3 extra playable characters as his playstyle is slower. Whilst, they are good and offer unique setpieces thanks to his new abilities, they werent my cup of tea.
