When you use two-step verification for your PlayStation account, you should be aware of two important points. These both appear on the same Security settings page as above.
First, you should make sure to save a copy of the Backup Codes for your account. These allow you to sign in even if you lose access to your phone number and thus can’t get your two-step code. You should print these codes out somewhere safe or save them in a password manager.
Second, two-step verification is not properly supported for legacy devices like the PS3, PS Vita, and PlayStation TV. If you still use these devices, you’ll need to generate a special device password to sign in.

How To Enable Two
While you can add two-step verification to your PlayStation account on your PS4 or PS5, it’s easier to do using a computer, which is the method we’ll cover here.
To set up two-step verification on your PlayStation account, you’ll first need to log into your profile. Head to the PlayStation sign-in page and log in with your credentials to access your account.
Note that since Sony owns the PlayStation brand, you’ll see Sony branding on some login pages instead of PlayStation. This is normal.
Once you’re signed in, you’ll see your account management page. On the left side, select Security to open a new page. You might have to confirm your password again to proceed.
On the new page, you’ll see various options related to the security of your account. If you want to use text messages for two-step verification, make sure you’ve added a Mobile Number here, as this is required for that form of verification.

The setup process for PlayStation 2SV in your browser is fundamentally the same as it is on console, but the steps you take to get there are slightly different.
First, sign into your account on PlayStation.com. Once the main homepage reloads, click your little user icon near the top-right corner of the page, just to the right of the “My PlayStation” dropdown menu. I’ve positioned my cursor over the spot you’re looking for in the screenshot below, though you’ll see a different icon there depending on what you picked for your account thumbnail.

Open your app and tap the gear icon near the top of the page. Then, in the menu that opens, scroll down until you see the “PlayStation Network” subheading. Tap the “Account Information” option just below that and a new window will open.

Open a web browser and navigate to PlayStation.com. You’ll land on the PlayStation website.
Make sure the “Security” tab is selected in the menu on the left side of the screen, and then find the 2-Step Verification section on the right side of the screen. Click “Edit” in this section. The 2-Step Verification window is shown letting you know that adding two step verification means that you’ll get a verification code through your chosen method that will need to be supplied after you enter your password to access your PlayStation account.

Why Enable 2fa On Your Psn Account
The benefits of two factor authentication are obvious it makes your PSN account on PS5 and PS4 much more secure.
Without 2FA, all that’s required in order to log into your PSN account is your username and password. While in most cases this will be fine, it means that if someone does get hold of your details, they’ll be able to log in with no trouble.
With 2FA enabled, it puts in place an extra security step for any login attempts. Whether you or anyone else inputs your username and password to log into your PSN account, you and only you will receive a notification containing a code. This code is required to successfully log in. If you’ve enabled two factor authentication, somebody who has your details won’t be able to login, because they won’t receive this unique code. You should enable 2FA wherever possible, not just on your PlayStation.
Setting Up Playstation 2sv On Your Console
Whether you’re on a PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5, open up the main Settings menu and then select “Users and Accounts.” That should open a sub-menu with additional options you’re looking for the one that says “Account” .
From there you’ve almost made it, I promise choose “Security” to open up one more sub-menu. This is what you should see.
The bottom option, “2-Step Verification” is your final destination. You can read up on how 2SV works by selecting the “Learn More” option just below the 2SV menu setting. But you can get the exact same information from right here on Sony’s website selecting Learn More just opens that page in your console’s web browser.
Anyway. We’re assuming you want 2SV turned on, so highlight 2-Step Verification and hit the X button to open up one more page, where you’ll choose which form your want your verification process to take.
Sony offers two options: Text messaging or an authenticator app. If you choose the first option, you’ll be asked to verify your contact phone number. Sony will then send a verification code via text that you’ll have to enter in. Do that and you’re done, 2-Step Verification will be turned on.
Whichever route you take to get your PlayStation account set up in the authenticator app, your final step will be checking the app and punching in the numerical code on the console side. And that’s it, you’re done.
