While I suggested that its best to wait in line one to two hours in advance , not all GameStop stores sold out of Sony PS5 consoles on days one and two. This is due to the fact that GameStop forces its customers to purchase a bundle, a long-held tradition that has prevented resellers from buying up all of the PlayStation 5 consoles.

It should go without saying that Amazon, GameStop, and Walmart are not the only retailers that carry the PS5. Theyre definitely among the best places to find a PlayStation 5 console in stock at any time, though.

Stockx Ps5 In Stock Uk
Not a website that we’re particularly familiar with, but StockX does seem to have PS5 consoles in stock. They seem a bit similar to eBay or Amazon in that they have private sellers on the site, but for sought-after collectables such as trainers and trading cards.
They have a verification process, and fluctuating stock market price, so you’re paying the competitive value at the time in theory. Overall, they have a 3.8 score on TrustPilot, and you can read more about how they work here. All this still means inflated prices, with consoles selling between £550-£900.

What About Heat And Noise
The PS5’s monstrous footprint gives it one significant advantage over its predecessor in that the console is basically silent and heat production is also minimal. We have noticed a bit of coil whine on some units, which is where the console emits a faint electrical noise during certain games, but compared to PS4 its a monumental improvement.
The PS4 and PS4 Pro were renowned for their ability to kick up the system fans to obnoxious levels and output lots of heat, particularly on the earlier models, so those looking to pick up a PS5 will be relieved to hear that those problems have been eradicated.
We held our hand near the system during a long play session, and although the PlayStation 5 was clearly outputting hot air it was emitting far less than what the PS4 Pro would push out.
Very rarely in our testing did the fans reach an audibly loud level to the degree that the PS4 Pro did when running games like Horizon: Zero Dawn or God of War. However, that could simply be due to the fact that we haven’t seen any resource-heavy PS5 games yet. Sony has also promised that it plans to optimize the PS5’s fans using over-the-air updates, so the machine could get louder, or indeed quieter, when playing certain games later down the line.

Where To Buy Ps5 In Australia
Amazon: PS5 | PS5 Digital Edition
When more PS5 stock drops, it will likely do so at Amazon, which means you’ll want to be one of the first in line when it does. As a massive online retailer, Amazon tends to have stock more regularly than most so we’ll keep this link here in case more consoles go live soon.
Target: PS5 | PS5 Digital Edition
Target uses its PS5 landing page to give the latest stock updates. Right now it states that limited stock is releasing soon and to check back for specific release timings. It’s also worth noting that the retailer will only be selling PS5 stock on its website, and will not be available for in-store purchase.
EB Games: PS5 | PS5 Digital Edition
EB Games was one of the first retailers to sell out, but also took a significant number of pre-orders for the console during 2021. There’s been no sign of the PS5 for a while now, though, so keep checking in for updates.

The advantage of the disc-equipped PS5 is that youre not stuck with one way of downloading your games you can choose between snagging a physical copy or downloading it digitally. Here are the folks whod get the most out of a standard PS5:
1. You don’t want total internet reliance. If you don’t want to rely on your spotty Internet connection to download games, consider getting the disc-equipped PS5.
2. You own a swath of popular PS4 discs. The PS5 has limited backwards compatibility it will support “almost all” of the top 100 most-played PS4 games. So if you want to sink your teeth into some nostalgic gaming on your new console, get the disc-equipped PS5.
3. You have a DVD and Blu-ray collection. Every now and then, you may want to wipe the dust off your DVD collection and watch a movie or two. You won’t be able to do that with the Digital Edition, so if you prefer a console that can support gaming, DVDs and Blu-ray, the standard PS5 will be the best choice for you.
4. You love getting collector’s edition game packages. Some gamers love getting their hands on collector’s edition packages, which can feature audio soundtracks and behind-the-scenes DVD footage — media goodies you won’t be able to use on PS5’s Digital Edition model.

The PS5 has a fairly standard array of ports, complete with some welcome modern conveniences. You get a Hi-Speed USB Type-A port up front, as well as a USB Type-C SuperSpeed port. Its nice to see a console finally feature USB-C connectivity out of the box, especially for connecting modern accessories and storage drives.
In the back, youll find two SuperSpeed USB-A ports, an Ethernet jack, an HDMI 2.1 port and an AC adapter. The PS5 has ditched the PS4s optical audio port, which may be a bummer for folks with high-end audio devices with optical connections. However, some companies are already offering optical-to-HDMI splitters, such as Astro with its Astro A20 headset.If you want to expand on the PS5s built-in 825GB of SSD storage, theres PCle 4.0 M.2 expansion slot that you can access by opening up the console. Note that not all SSDs are supported, you will need one that hits Sonys fairly strict requirements , such as the Western Digital SN850, Samsung 980 Pro, or the upcoming Sony-produced Nextorage M.2 NVMe SSD.
At launch, the expansion slot was locked but the latest PS5 software update has unlocked it which enables users to add an additional SSD for more storage. We tested out the process ourselves while the feature was still in beta, and enjoyed some excellent results.

It’s been a little over a month since the last PS5 restock from Best Buy, and current headwinds suggest the next won’t be arriving quickly. In fact, it’s most likely we’ll see a PS5 restock from Walmart or GameStop before the next big event like the one we saw this week.

Get PS5 restock updates from the major U.S. retailers
PS5 restock is easier to find these days. In fact, a Sony restock is currently underway and stock is still available. Alternatively, you can for its next invite-only drop. Amazon’s PS5 product page says it’s currently sending out invites for its next drop. The retailer has held a few exclusive PS5 drops this summer.
Likewise, you can still register for Sony Direct invite-only restocks. Do note, registering at either retailer doesn’t guarantee that you’ll be invited to their invite-only drops. That said, the last few Sony restocks have been open to the general public with no virtual queues required. Some restocks have even lasted for 24 hours or more.

The PS5 has been out for almost two years now, and while stock issues have plagued the console ever since it launched in 2020, restocks have improved massively over the past few months. However, there is still more drama ahead as PlayStation announced in late August that it would be hiking up the price of its consoles.
While were used to seeing consoles gradually fall in price as they age, the PlayStation 5 is doing the opposite. Just as the PS5 stock shortage woes were coming to an end in the UK, PlayStation announced that it would be increasing the price of both the PS5 disc and digital edition consoles by £30, and we have already seen this price change applied to bundles, too.
The price change came into effect on 25 August, with PlayStations CEO Jim Ryan blaming the price increase on the challenging economic environment. Were seeing high global inflation rates, as well as adverse currency trends, impacting consumers and creating pressure on many industries, he wrote in a blog post.
Based on these challenging economic conditions, has made the difficult decision to increase the recommended retail price of PlayStation 5 in select markets, Ryan added.
