Its not just woes for Sony. US consumers attempting to purchase a PS5 Disc or PS5 Digital Edition console during a restock often get beaten by scripted bots employed by resellers. This has caused PS5 prices and time to get the console to skyrocket.
I have interviewed resellers who use bots to check out rare items and they are able to purchase the PS5 and Xbox before the add-to-cart button is ever shown to normal consumers. Retailers, which dont make much money on the PlayStation 5, have very few options remedies they come up with to fortify their websites are often figured out by resellers updates to PS5 bots within a matter of hours.

Gamestop Ps5 Restock Selfie Time Because It’s Almost Time

How Much Does A Ps5 Cost
The PS5 costs $499 – that’s the same price as Microsoft’s Xbox Series X in the US, but more expensive in the UK and Australia after the recent price hike. The cheaper PS5 Digital Edition is priced at $399.99 .
It’s almost guaranteed that both versions of the console will remain at this price for some time. Demand is still astronomically high for the console and Sony sees no reason to discount it for the time being. It even bumped up the price of the console in many regions due to increased production costs.

Lately, not all GameStop stores sell out of their PS5 Disc inventory, so theres a chance youll be able to escape the $15/year free for that PowerUp Rewards Pro membership.
Request An Invite From Sony To Keep Track Of Ps5 Restocks
Similar to Amazon, Sony lets buyers request an invitation to purchase a PS5 or a PS5 bundle during restocks. Sony manufactures the PS5, so its a reliable way to eventually score a console. However, theyre usually one of the slower retailers to restock. Requesting an invite doesnt guarantee youll end up with a PS5, but you will get notified when the console becomes available.

Join The Wait List On Amazon For Quick Updates And Alerts
Though Amazon doesnt currently have the PS5 in stock, you can request an invitation to buy one when they do. The retailer will send you an email when the console becomes available . Right now, you can request an invite to buy the PS5 Horizon West bundle, which includes the console plus the Horizon West game.
The most recent batch of invitations just went out on Nov. 4. But some invitations for this restock may still go out if you join the list because each person who receives an invite has 72 hours to make their purchase. If they dont buy it, an invite gets sent to the next person on the list. Theres no guarantee youll receive a purchase link if you request one, but its an easier way to keep track of restocks. Right now, you can only request an invitation for the Horizon West Bundle, but Amazon has used a similar system for just the PS5 console in the past.

BT Shop: PS5 bundles available for existing customers If you’re an existing BT customer you should log in to your account and check under the ‘Your Offers’ section for an access code that will allow you to buy a PS5 from the BT Shop. PS5 bundles are available with Horizon Forbidden West, or that same PS5 game and an extra DualSense controller.

Latest : PS5 Disc console bundles are available to pre-order at Very while stock lasts. A PS5 Digital console with FIFA 23 and an extra DualSense controller is available at BT Shop. The God of War Ragnarok bundle is currently available from GameVery, ShopTo and PlayStation Direct. The PS5 disc console with Fifa 23 bundle is available from Scan. Other various bundles are available from Currys, The Game CollectionHughes.
In the US, Amazon customers can request an invite to purchase the PS5 disc console for $499.99 Horizon Forbidden West disc bundle for $550, and the God of War Ragnarok Disc bundle for $560. US shoppers can also request an invite to buy the Digital PS5 with Horizon Forbidden West for $450, and the Digital PS5 with God of War Ragnarok for $460. PS5 stock availability has improved throughout the year, but it can still be difficult to buy a standalone PS5 console. You may have to opt for a PS5 bundle instead, which usually comes with a game, extra DualSense controller and/or other PS5 acccessories like a headset or compatible SSD. These will, of course, cost more than just the console on its own, but you’ll at least have something to play on your new console.

What About Ps5 Bundles
Some retailers, including GameStop, Newegg and Antonline, tend to sell the PS5 as part of an expensive bundle once they have the console in stock. PS5 bundle prices can be eye-watering at first glance such as this $779 Newegg bundle with three games and an extra controller but they also sell out much more slowly than the console itself.
With that in mind, its worth considering a bundle if it includes stuff you were going to buy for your PS5 anyway. Just make sure the prices of those extra games and controllers add up to roughly what youd pay for buying each separately. The last thing you should do is pay a grossly inflated price just to bring your PS5 home.

As you’ll see from our PS5 review, the console really is a next-generation machine, and it already has a handful of absolutely banging games like Elden Ring, Horizon Forbidden West, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Returnal and many more. All of these really show what Sony’s latest hardware is capable of even at this early stage.
But don’t let the fear of missing out get you down if you haven’t already got your hands on a PS5. Playstation 5 Price: Recent History
After much waiting, Sony announced the price and release date of the PS5 on 16th September 2020.
The company set the price of the PS5 Digital Edition at £360 / $400 / AU$599, and the PS5 disc edition at £450 / $490 / AU$749. That came as a pleasant surprise to those who’d expected the PS5 to be priced higher than the rival Xbox Series X.
In August 2022, Sony raised the price in certain territories, the UK and Australia among them. British buyers will now pay £479.99 for the standard PS5, and £389.99 for the PS5 Digital Edition without a Blu-ray disc drive. Australian gamers will now pay AU$799.95 and AU$649.95 respectively.
Prices are also going up in Europe, Japan, China, Mexico and Canada, but the US price remains unchanged.
With demand continuing to outstrip supply in 2022, finding a PS5 deal continues to be a challenge . Could the rumoured launch of the PS5 Pro in 2023/24 trigger a major PS5 price drop? Fingers crossed.

The original PlayStation and PS2 launched at £299 in 1994 and 2000 respectively. The PS3 was quite the step up in 2006, with the entry-level 20GB model starting at £425 although that was more or less in line with inflation with regard to the original PlayStation, and there were also the significant hardware upgrades to factor in, not least of all being the Blu-ray optical drive.

Gamestop Ps5 Restock Crowds Haven’t Show Up Yet
We’ve seen zero people in line overnight at some GameStop stores, including the store in downtown Boston. This photo was taken at 11:30pm EDT and there was no one in line except for Matt Swider and restock tracker/YouTuber Jake Randall.
One of the reasons for the lack of crowds? GameStop forces people to buy bundles, so the resellers stay home. That’s good news for actual gamers, but expect to pay something like $740 today .

Playstation 5 Price Vs Xbox Series X Price
So, how does the PS5 compare to the Xbox Series X on price? Better than many expected, as it happens.
The Xbox Series X and the full-fat PS5 are identically priced, at £449 / $500 / AU$749.
Both consoles also have a disc drive-less, cheaper sibling: that’s the Xbox Series S and the PS5 Digital Edition. This is where things get really interesting, because the Xbox Series S costs only £250 / $299,/ AU$499, whereas the PS5 Digital Edition is £360 / $400 / AU$599.
That’s a big step up, but it’s worth pointing out that the Xbox Series S is less powerful than the Series X but the PS5 Digital Edition is identical to the standard PS5 except for the lack of a disc drive. In other words, the PS5 Digital Edition is more of a proper next-gen games console than the Xbox Series S.
Pro tip: If you’re willing to buy a secondhand console, Amazon tends to offer Certified Refurbished Xbox Series X at bargain prices.
Sign Up For Walmart Plus
Walmart Plus: Walmart Plus is a subscription service from Walmart. Priced at $98 per year, it includes perks like unlimited free delivery on more than 160,000 items as well as fuel discounts at more than 2,000 Walmart and Murphy USA fuel stations. Shoppers can also opt for a $12.95/month option.
Walmart hasnt indicated the amount of stock that will be available during any of these PS5 restocks, but it seems a safe bet to assume the console will sell out quickly. If you want the best chance of securing a PS5 at Walmart next week we would advise signing up for a Walmart Plus membership in order to have access to the first drop on Monday. A 30-day subscription costs $12.95 which is a small price to pay if it helps you secure a console.
During previous Walmart PS5 restocks the retailer has released inventory every 10 to 15 minutes. So if you log on around 10 a.m. and the console appears to be sold out its worth persisting as additional stock may become available. Generally speaking, Walmart restocks have lasted from one hour to as long as three hours. So it pays to stick around and keep trying.

John Lewis & Partners restocks the console very infrequently, usually once every six to eight weeks. Restocks dont tend to last very long, but they do always seem to drop between 7am and 8am in the morning. Restocks have been lasting longer since the retailer started bundling the console with other accessories and games, bumping up the price.
The retailer only appears to get a couple of thousand consoles or less each time new stock comes in, so were not expecting anything big the next time theres a drop of the standalone console. When it happens, we recommend checking out via the app people have seen more success through this method.
Where To Buy Ps5 In Canada

Though Amazon Canada doesn’t appear to restrict PS5 sales to Prime members, it seems like a long time since the console was available to buy. We’d suggest keeping an eye on that product description in case it’s updated with any information about exclusive early access for Amazon Prime members as that’s helped nail down restock dates in other regions.
Walmart: PS5 | PS5 Digital Edition
Walmart has a PS5 restock landing page that delivers regular updates on the console’s availability. More often than not it states that the PS5 is unavailable but points you towards Walmart Canada on Twitter to get the most up to date news.
Best Buy: PS5 | PS5 Digital Edition
As well as online, Best Buy encourages you to check local stores for any availability of PS5 consoles. Sometimes the console store pages are updated with a notice that says ‘Coming Soon’ but that doesn’t give a clear or specific indication of when the PS5 will be available to buy. Just continue to check in regularly to avoid missing out.
GameStop: PS5 | PS5 Digital Edition
GameStop currently only offers either the PS5 or PS5 Digital Edition as part of a bundle and these change all the time. Our advice? Check in regularly for updates on when the next set of PS5 bundles will be available to buy and what you can find in each one.
