PlayStation is using a rechargeable battery in the DualSense controller. While its nice to know we wont have to swap out batteries all the time, it can be a little frustrating if you frequently forget to charge your controller. The battery life lasts for around three to eight hours, depending on how demanding a game is on the DualSense.
The larger battery definitely makes the controller heavier, but Sony has put in the effort to make the controller as light as possible. Compared to the new Xbox Series X controller, the DualSense weighs about the same at around nine ounces.
What Games Use The Dualsense Controller’s Features On Pc
You won’t have to use Steam to make the DualSense work in all games. In Windows the DualSense uses the generic DirectInput driver, which some games support out of the box. But most games today use Microsoft’s newer XInput driver, which is where Steam Input really comes in handy. Will A Ps5 Controller Also Work On Ps4
Those fortunate enough to purchase a PlayStation 5 will likely own a PlayStation 4 as well. And wouldnt it be nice to own an extra controller for your old game console? After all, your PS5 purchase does come with its own DualSense controller.
Unfortunately, the standard PS5 DualSense controller will not work with a PS4. When users attempt to connect a PS5 controller to a PS4 console, the devices wont be able to communicate with each other. Even when connecting the PS5 controller with a wire, the PS4 console will remain unresponsive.
The only way to get your PS5 controller to work with a PS4 is by using Remote Play and a PC. Its a highly impractical way to get things to work, but its better than nothing:

In the hands-on demo video, Keighley stated that the PS5 DualSense controller does feel a bit heavier compared to the current PS4 controller, but its not a substantial difference. He also feels that the PS5 controller does feel a bit heftier compared to the PS4 gamepad.

To everyone who had their hopes up, you cannot use your DualSense PS5 controller on your PS4. Sony has been adamant about PS4 not being able to use the new technology in their previous consoles. You can however plug in your DualSense PS5 controller to your PS4 and just charge it. Any buttons that you press, the console wont recognize it. Your console however will show that youre using a wireless controller but wont be able to use it.
Funnily enough, the DualSense controller can be used with a PS3 and play games but theres a way where you can actually use the new controller on your PS4, this does however need another PC or a laptop on your part.

Interestingly enough, it is possible to connect a PlayStation 4 controller to a PS5 console using a cable or wireless Bluetooth connection. But only for PlayStation 4 games, which are backwards compatible with the new video game console . To do this, try the following:
- Open Settings on your PS5 Home Screen, choose the gear icon in the top-right corner
- In your Settings menu, scroll down and choose Accessories
- Turn on Bluetooth and Accessories
- Choose Bluetooth Accessories
- Press and hold the Share and PS Logo button on your unconnected PS4 controller, do this until the lights start flashing
- The PS4 controller will appear under Accessories found on the Bluetooth Accessories page. Select DualShock 4
- Confirm the registration of your Bluetooth device
You will now be able to play on your PS5 with an older DualShock 4 controller. But this will only be limited to backwards compatible PS4 games. Again, if youd like to play PS5 games using a PS4 controller on a PS5 console, you need to use the Remote Play method.
This means that the compatibility of PS4 controllers on your new console will only go so far. Perfect to play your older videogames, I would say. So feel free to disconnect that old PS4 console from the television once youve upgraded. You will no longer need to use it.
