Will The Ps5 Have Vr

How To Set Up Psvr On Your Ps5

Everything YOU need to know about VR on PS5

If you have purchased a new PS5 along with the PSVR kit, remember to set up the console before installing PSVR. Follow the on-screen instructions, then shut down the console before proceeding with the next steps.

Make sure all components youre going to use are switched off: the console, the processing unit, the PS Camera, and so on.

Below is the series of steps you need to do next.

How Does That Compare To The Xbox Series X

The Xbox Series X wont pack VR capabilities at launch. Xbox boss, Phil Spencer, ruffled more than a few feathers when he saidnobodys asking for VR.

Hes right that its not a mainstream concern at present. However, the arrival of titles like Half Life: Alyx is likely to increase interest in and demand for VR gaming capabilities.

Its Got Haptics In The Headset

Another interesting feature is the haptic feedback within the headset itself. This apparently isnt as advanced a sensation as the haptic feedback seen in the new DualSense controllers, and might be employed more for comfort than enhancing immersion. Were yet to really learn how the feature will be used exactly, though.

What Psvr 2 Games Have Been Confirmed For Ps5

It seems clear that Sony hasn’t forgotten one of gaming’s golden rules – a platform is only as good as the experiences you can have on it.

Sony has already announced one PSVR 2 game – it’s called Horizon Call of the Mountain, and it will take place in the same universe as Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West. You can watch the reveal trailer above.

Horizon Call of the Mountain will see you playing as a new character, rather than Aloy from the previous Horizon games, and Sony described it like so in a PlayStation blog:

“Created for PlayStation VR2, this unique experience has been designed to push hardware technology, innovation, and gameplay. The stunning visuals and brand-new PS VR2 Sense controllers give a new meaning to being fully immersed into the world of Horizon.”

Reflecting on what Sony has already achieved in VR, another PlayStation blog post mentioned: “Weve seen tremendous experiences that have propelled virtual reality gaming forward, including highly acclaimed titles like Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, Tetris Effect, Blood & Truth, Moss, Beat Saber, and Resident Evil 7 biohazard.”

Looking ahead to the PS5 era of PSVR, one thing we’d love to see is a full sequel to Astro Bot: Rescue Mission. The first game’s hero, Astro, has already become something of a mascot for PlayStation as a brand, with a fun demo called Astro’s Playroom coming free with every PS5 console.

Is Rec Room Available On Ps5 Does It Have Vr Support

PlayStation VR na PS5

Yes! You should be able to download and play Rec Room on PlayStation 5. There are two versions of Rec Room available to download on the PlayStation 5.

  • Native version of Rec Room for the PS5
  • The backwards compatible version of Rec Room for the PS4

The native version of Rec Room is a native PS5 version of Rec Room that enjoys massively reduced load times, increased resolution and graphics. However, you can only play on screen mode. This version does not support VR. The backwards compatible version of Rec Room for the PS4 is the version of the game that runs on PS4 but can also run on PS5. If you use the PSVR headset to play Rec Room in VR, this is the version of the game you want to download on your PS5. You can enjoy massively increased performance compared to playing VR Rec Room on the PS4 and some increase to load times.

Does Ps Vr2 Have A New Headset Design

Despite revealing the controllers in 2021 and most of the PS VR2’s specs at CES 2022, Sony didn’t unveil the design of the headset itself until February 2022. Like the Sense controllers, it features a matching “orb” design, which according to Sony is meant to represent the “360-degree view that players feel when they enter the virtual reality world.”

As for what’s in it that sets it apart from the original PSVR, first up is the inclusion of a haptic feedback motor inside the headset a first for the VR industry and a potentially ground-breaking feature depending on how Sony plans to implement it. Sony says that, with this sensor “gamers can feel a character’s elevated pulse during tense moments, the rush of objects passing close to the character’s head, or the thrust of a vehicle as the character speeds forward.”

A new vibration motor inside the headset will make players actually feel punches and shots.

Given how small, unnatural movements can make players sick, Sony will need to ensure this motor is subtle enough to keep users from getting headaches or dizziness.

But a vibration motor, especially a haptic motor as sensitive as we know is included in the controllers, could deliver some seriously amazing immersion for players who are already comfortable in VR. Feeling a punch in a game like Creed or the smack of a shell against your helmet in something like Pistol Whip would be out of this world.

Cameras mounted on the headset would track your position in the room.

What About The Ps Vr2’s Design And Specs

Sony has gradually teased details about the new VR hardware, giving us a look at the headset and the Sense controllers and dropping a few technical specs, but we’re still waiting for a comprehensive spec rundown.

Weve collected all of Sony’s official information right here, along with the leaks, rumours, and patent applications that reveal a little more.

Is Psvr 2 The Start Of Sony’s Metaverse

This is speculation, but Sony has form for trying to build a metaverse. On PS3 it launched PlayStation Home, a virtual 3D hub-world where players could mingle, chat, play simple games, show off their avatars, and showcases achievements earned in games. You had an apartment that could be decorated with free, bought or earned items. Public spaces were made for display, entertainment, advertising, and networking. When it closed PlayStation Home had 41 million members.

A trademark application, submitted in July 2021, suggests Sony might be considering bringing back PlayStation Home. Sony often registers trademarks simply to keep ownership of an IP or idea, but we can’t help but speculate

Meta is working on its centralised metaverse using Oculus as a platform/headset, Apple is rumoured to be developing something similar for its VR/AR headset, so it’s not too far to see Sony relaunch PlayStation Home for PSVR 2 a place we can virtually meet up and play with Astro Bots while watching Spider-Man: Far From Home. Now, of Sony gets into NFTs to support a PSVR 2 metaverse, that would be huge.

What Are The New Psvr 2 Controllers

PlayStation VR announced for PS5, but its not coming this year

One thing we do know more about are the PSVR 2 controllers. . Sony has focused a lot of their release information on this new design. On top of that, a patent filing on the WIPO IP Portal also shows us diagrams of what the new controller will look like.

Filed on February 26 and made public on December 2, the patent shows us diagrams of the PSVR 2 controller. More specifically, it shows us what it will look like , a trigger-like grip and how it will be easier to detect by the PlayStation HD camera.

The patent claims “the present invention improves the stability of detecting a light-emitting unit by using a camera.” What is clear is that PlayStation are moving away from the wand-like PS Move controllers and are opting for an orb-like shape. In fact, the patent seems to be the design of what Sony has already shown off in terms of PSVR 2 controllers.

It is key to point out that although it seems increasingly likely this is what the new controllers will look like, this patent doesn’t confirm that. It’s just a way for a company to protect its intellectual property.

The unique orb shape allows a far more natural grip than the old Move controllers aiding immersion. The shape also moves the trigger under the controller, which feels more natural to hold. The layout is most interesting because the four action buttons are divided over the two handsets, making it likely that the controllers will need to be used as a pair.

How Much Will Psvr 2 Cost

Sony hasn’t announced a price but we can look at its track record and the cost of similar VR headsets to gauge what it will cost.

You can pick up a current PSVR bundle for PS4 for £259 / $200. This is more than five years old and has been through many price offers. At launch, the original PSVR cost £399 / $499, which was met Sony’s positioning of the headset as a new gaming platform rather than a PS4 accessory.

Considering Oculus Quest 2 sells for £299 / $299 and high-end PC VR headsets such as the Valve Vive that match the PSVR 2 specs cost over a £800 / $1,000 it’s not hard to see Sony pitching its next-gen headset at around £349 / $399.

The strategy worked for PSVR, and Sony has a two-pronged approach: to support PS5 and to bring VR to a wider audience. A £349 / $399 price backed by exclusive games and perhaps a PS Plus collection of enhanced PSVR games, looks right.

Psvr 2 Controllers And Headset Gets A Major Revision Over The Psvr

The PSVR 2 features a brand new design for both its headset and controllers. The headsets design change isnt as massive as the controllers, but still a small departure from its predecessor. The PSVR 2 headset looks less bulky, has a more refined black and white color scheme to match the PS5, and seems to have ditched the blue lights found on the PSVR. We love this design, as it feels a bit more modern and sleek.

Aside from cosmetics, youll also find a few other improvements with the headset including an adjustment dial, a slight reduction in weight, haptic feedback, and a vent to prevent the lenses from fogging. As a glasses wearer, I certainly appreciate that last one. The headset even apes the PS5 controller by having thousands of tiny PlayStation symbols on it.

While all those improvements are noteworthy, the weight especially stands out. As someone who has worn the HTC Vive, Rift, Quest 2, and many others I can tell you weight matters. The PSVR was reasonably comfortable but during long play sessions it could still get a bit heavy, so were excited to see how the reduction affects comfort with the PSVR 2.

Obviously, there are plenty of hardware improvements to the display and other components as well, though well get to those a bit later in this article.

How Much Will The Psvr 2 Cost

It will probably be a while before Sony announces the official pricing for their next-generation headset. Still, with what we know so far, it is possible to make a reasonable estimate. The original PlayStation VR released at $399/£349. This was the price for the version without the PlayStation Camera necessary to use PSVR which retailed separately at $60/£50.

Most hardware makes a loss upon launch, turning a profit later with additional hardware, software, and subscription sales making up the costs. The PlayStation 5 is no exception. While the disc version is finally running at a profit, the next-generation VR system will likely run at a loss when initially launched. Even with increased screen resolution, haptic feedback, and increased processing, Sony would probably hesitate to set the price point drastically higher than the original.

The PlayStation 5 costs $100/£100 more than the PlayStation 4 did at launch, so we know this is a price increase consumers are comfortable paying. Also, according to TechRadar the new VR will come bundled with a set of controllers. This seems plausible since Sony has been focusing its marketing around them. Despite the original VR system not including controllers, Sony will be reluctant to surpass the PlayStation 5s launch price for a VR set. Therefore, we think you can expect the PlayStation 5 VR to retail around $499/£449.

Psvr 2 Details: News Rumors Release Date Price And Specs

PS4 VR Gets big price cut alongside Bravo Team Release

ByGeorgina Youngpublished 8 December 21

We’ve got the latest news on the PSVR 2, the upcoming PS5 VR headset from Sony.

The PSVR 2 is coming, that much is confirmed, but what else do we know about the next gen VR headset designed exclusively for PlayStation 5?

Sony’s announcement of the PS5 left many gamers questioning the future of virtual reality gaming on the PlayStation platform. Luckily for console-based VR fans, Sony did announce a next gen VR headset for PlayStation earlier this year – the unofficially named PSVR 2.

The PSVR is currently the only VR headset available from the three major console makers and still offers gamers a lot of value, which is clear from our PSVR review. It hosts some of the best VR space games currently released, but the hardware and graphical specs of the original PSVR are no longer cutting edge. Unfortunately it doesn’t quite compare to the best VR headsets currently on the market, some of which feature in our best VR headset deals page.

Since the announcement that the PSVR 2 was in development, not a whole lot of information has been released about the virtual reality headset. However, the PlayStation 5 has been on the market since 2019 and excitement is growing, so here’s everything we do know about PSVR news, rumors, release date, price and specs.

Finger Tracking And Familiar Button Layout

Sony designed the PS VR2 with the best ergonomics possible in mind. Players hands will slide comfortably through the circular design of the controller to rest in a sweet spot that fits the curves of your hand.

Additionally, the controllers feature a button layout that should feel familiar to both gamers. In addition to the adaptive triggers, each controller features three buttons and a joystick.

Two of those buttons are similar to the four shape buttons on the DualSense controller. And the final button on each controller looks to be an interface button.

The controllers also have finger sensors underneath where your hands will rest. These sensors will help tell which user is using the device. Theyll also help track the location of each controller.

How To Use Vr On The Playstation 5

The camera isn’t the only PS4 accessory that has to be used to play VR on the PlayStation 5. Players will also need a PS4 DualShock controller instead of the PS5’s new DualSense controller. However, a PS Move controller will work fine too. A new PSVR controller for PS5 is rumored to be in the works, but nothing has been officially confirmed yet.

On top of needing PS4 controllers and a PS4 camera, users will also need a special adapter to run current PSVR on the PlayStation 5. This adaptor will be needed for the PS4 camera, and Sony is thankfully giving it to users for free. These adaptors should be shipping out in the next few weeks, hopefully arriving soon after the PS5’s launch.

Currently, this is the only way to play PSVR on the PlayStation 5. Sony has hinted at bringing next-gen VR experiences to the console, but it’s unclear when players should expect the next-gen PSVR to arrive. Until then, it’s still great that VR from the PS4 can work on the PlayStation 5 -even if there are a few hoops to jump through.

The Psvr 2 Displays Offer Some Substantial Improvements

Probably the most important component for a VR headset is the display technology. Poor lenses ruin the experience not just by breaking immersion, but by causing motion sickness and other issues. The PSVR 2 offers a much-needed jump from the 960×1080 resolution found on the original PSVR, with new OLED panels that offer a resolution of 2,000 x 2,040 per eye along with HDR and a 110-degree field, as well as support for refresh rates of 90Hz and 120Hz.

The rendering technology is also getting a boost. Rendering smarts are set to include flexible scaling resolution and foveated rendering, both tasked with redistributing computing power based on a users viewing direction and eye position. This will reportedly result in better overall performance.

How Much Will Ps Vr2 Cost

Sony confirms PSVR 2 is coming to PS5, along with a new VR controller

The first-gen PlayStation VR starter bundle costs around £259 to buy right now in the UK, but that affordable price tag came after a handful of price drops. In fact, the full PlayStation VR kit was priced at £399/$499 at release back in 2016, and we think thats more representative of the potential cost of the second-gen PlayStation VR headset.

The PlayStation VR2 will sport a lot of new and upgraded tech to improve the overall VR experience for PlayStation gamers , but of course, the use of high-end tech could bump up the overall price.

For reference, the high-end Vive Cosmos costs £699/$699, although the more recent Oculus Quest 2 comes in much cheaper at only £299/$299.

What were trying to say is that the price will vary depending on the tech on offer, and for that, well have to wait until Sony fully reveals its next-gen VR headset.
