Playstation was quick on its feet to fix issues. PSN services were restored for PS3, PS Now, PS Vita, and web users first, but the PS4 network was still facing issues. Players with the PS4 could not play online games or access services by PSN. They were facing issues with logging in and accessing PlayStation Store too.
After being down for around 4 hours, Playstation Network was back on with all its services available for all its devices and the players rejoiced. There were issues with downloading games on the network which has been addressed by Sony on its PlayStation network status website.

We believe it’s important to do our part to address internet stability concerns as an unprecedented number of people are staying home and practicing social distancing. Following an update released Wednesday morning, PlayStation users began reporting a number of issues with their PlayStation Network service, including full outages.
The first reports came in around 8:30 a.m. ET.
Users say theyve experienced issues when launching games, apps and network features on both PS4 and PS5, as well as issues with PlayStation Now, PlayStation Direct and the PlayStation Store. Sony acknowledged the issues on its website.
Once the outages are fixed, the update promises new features including an option to create open or closed parties on both the PS4 and PS5. An open party will allow friends to see and join a party without an invite. Closed parties will be limited to those who receive an invite.
For the PS5, the update will bring enhancements to Game Base and Trophy cards and new features such as mono audio for headphones.
PS5 players in the U.S. and U.K. will also get a sneak peek at a voice command feature.
Sony also said it will launch a Variable Refresh Rate for PS5 on HDMI 2.1-compatible TVs and PC monitors in the coming months

PSN sign-in failed can be ascribed to the blocked IP address. To unblock the IP address, you can try changing DNS settings. Below are the steps to change DNS settings.
Step 1: Go to Settings> Network.
Step 2: Select Internet Connection Setup.
Step 3: Select Use Wi-Fi to connect to the network and then choose Custom.
Step 4: Select the Wi-Fi network you want to use and then set the IP Address Settings as Automatic.
Step 5: Select Do Not Specify on the DHCP Host Name screen.
Step 6: Select Manual under DNS Settings, and then enter the following Google DNS. After that, click the Next button to continue.
- Primary DNS 8.8.8.8
- Secondary DNS 8.8.4.4
Step 7: When you see MTU Settings, still select Manual and then set the MTU value as 1456.
Step 8: Click Do Not Use under Proxy Server. Then, click Test Internet Connection.
When the test comes to an end, please try to resign-in PlayStation Network.

Run The Playstation 5’s Network Test
The PS5 includes a built-in test that tries to get online and connect to the PlayStation Network , then lets you know the results. If you’re still not sure why your PS5 won’t get online, you should run this.
To go through the network test, head to Settings > Network > Connection Status. Select Test Internet Connection here to run a new check.
Here’s what the steps in this test mean:
- Obtain IP address: If this passes, your PS5 connected to your router and got an IP address successfully.
- Internet connection: When this succeeds, your console is able to get online.
- PlayStation Network sign-in: This final step makes sure you can connect to PSN to enjoy online games and other services.
- Connection speed: These should be in the ballpark of the speed you get from your ISP. If they’re extremely low, your system likely has a weak Wi-Fi signal.
If your PS5 is online but won’t connect to PSN, you may need to forward ports on your router so that your console can access PSN services. If one of the other two checks failed, walk through the general network troubleshooting guide linked earlier.
