Skimming out the Nintendo DS by one million units, the PlayStation 2 is the best-selling console of all time. If Sony was happy about the first PlayStations sales, they were ecstatic about the PlayStation 2s sales. Selling 155 Million Units, the PS2 has surpassed all other home consoles by a wide margin.;
The closest one is PS4 and its behind by 40 million units.
Released in 2000, the PlayStation would have a substantial life, being discontinued after 13 years.
To put that into perspective, it was discontinued the same year the PS4 was released.;
According to Techidence, the PS2s best-selling franchise was Grand Theft Auto. And the best selling game of all time was GTA San Andreas with 17.33 million units sold.
They also state that Gran Turismo 3 and 4 arent far behind with 14.89 million units and 11.76 million units respectively. PS2 is the most sold console of all time, and only time will tell if another console will ever match its popularity.;

Xbox One Vs Ps: Performance And Graphics
If you’re concerned about nuts and bolts, the starting versions of both consoles have an 8-core x86-64 AMD Jaguar processor with 8GB of RAM, an AMD Radeon GPU and a 500GB hard drive.
While games generally look and play great on both systems, PS4 has the edge in terms of resolution. For example, according to IGN’s database, games such as Batman: Arkham Knight and Shadow of Mordor all run at full 1080p on PS4, while Xbox One gamers have to settle for 900p on those titles. If getting the best possible crispness for most games is a priority, PS4 comes out on top.
However, when it comes to the premium versions of both consoles, Xbox has an edge. The $499 Xbox One X plays many titles in native 4K, and has the most powerful overall specs of any console out there. The $399 PS4 Pro technically plays games in 4K, but the experience is oftentimes upscaled rather than true 4K. Folks with HDR-ready TVs should also consider High Dynamic Range support, which allows for richer colors and better brightness. The Xbox One X, Xbox One S, PS4 Pro and standard PS4 all support HDR, though the list of HDR-enabled games varies by console.
Winner: PS4. Games look stunning on both systems, but the stock PS4 offers better resolution for many titles.

Sony’s PS5 is the next-gen console to beat when it comes to exclusive games, but Microsoft is … catching up fast.
Its been about two months since the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X were released unto the masses. During that time, those of us lucky enough to actually find one to purchase have had ample time to play on both machines.
The short verdict? Both are just perfectly fine.
The Xbox Series X feels like a speedier Xbox One X. Theres just not that much difference between the two in terms of UI, the feel of the gamepad, or really even how games look and play. Sure, its a step up overall, but you just dont really notice it all that much. The transition between the two feels almost invisiblelets call it smooth.
No doubt, modern games do look and play better on the Xbox Series X than on last-gen hardware. No game has proved that more than Cyberpunk 2077, which runs far better on Xbox Series X than on any other console, even edging out the PS5 .
The PS5 feels more next-gen for a number of reasons. For one thing, while we thankfully do have backward compatibility with PS4 games on the PS5, the feel of the console is quite different. The transition isnt as smooth between the two systems. The UI is radically overhauled, unlike the Xbox Series X which is almost entirely the same as the Xbox One X. The console itself looks space-age. And the DualSense Gamepad is a radical departure from the DualShock, with its advanced haptic feedback and futuristic design.

*PlayStation 2 remains the best-selling video game console of all time. Sony’s beloved system tops Nintendo DS by roughly 5 million units sold, while handily outselling every other console in existence. As of January 31, 2011, Sony had sold 150 million PS2s to retailers. While that was the last official total reported, the console would remain in production through early 2013. Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad noted sales climbed to 155.1 million through March 2012. Our grand total of 159 million was reached using Ahmad’s continued logic:
“In the fiscal year ending March 2013 a total of 16.5 million PS3 & PS2 units were shipped,” he wrote. “PS2 was still being shipped during this period so the info we’re missing is how many units were PS2 and how many were PS3. Using PS3’s 80m sell in announcements as a guide you can work backwards and ultimately work out that PS2 must have been close to 4m.”
Its software sales sit at a staggering 1.5 billion units, according to Sony.

Early PlayStation 5 prototypes cut a 15 second load time in Marvel’s Spider-Man to just 0.8 seconds.
Microsoft had similar ambitions, committing to an NVMe SSD and GDDR6 RAM, slicing loading, and increasing multitasking capabilities. It demonstrated that with State of Decay 2, cutting a 45 second load time on Xbox One X down to just seven seconds on Xbox Series X. While strong gains on both platforms, Sony’s SSD technology has steadily come out on top.

Xbox One Vs Ps: Value
The Xbox One S starts at $299 , putting it on par with the $299 ;PS4 Slim. However, it’s worth noting that both consoles go on sale all the time, and you can often find them both for as low as $200 . The One S doubles as a 4K Blu-ray player, so you’re arguably getting the most tech for your money with that machine.
If you’re on an extra-tight budget, you can opt for the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition , which has no disc drive and includes Forza Horizon 3, Minecraft and Sea of Thieves. However, the standard Xbox One S drops to that price frequently, so you’re probably better off waiting for a sale and getting the 4K Blu-ray drive for cheap — especially if you don’t want to rely entirely on digital downloads.
Microsoft has recently brought back the Xbox All Access program. This lets you lease an Xbox One S, Xbox One X or Xbox One S All-Digital Edition starting at $19.99 a month for 24 month. According to Microsoft, this program saves you more than $100 compared to purchasing the console and bundled games separately. All Access members can upgrade to the upcoming Xbox Series X console starting late 2020, though there’s no word yet on how much the upgrade will cost.
If you want 4K gaming, Sony’s PS4 Pro costs $399 , while the Xbox One X runs a hefty $499 . That’s a pretty big price gap, though Microsoft’s console offers a richer 4K gaming experience. .

It holds the title of “fastest home console to reach 100 million unit sell in,” according to Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad, beating PS2 to the milestone by two months. To date, more than a billion software units have been sold for the console.

Removable And External Hard Drives
Only the PS4 offers a removable hard drive, which means that users can upgrade the factory 500 GB unit if necessary.
Xbox One also offers a 500 GB hard drive, but users cannot replace. Xbox One does include two USB ports intended to offer external storage in case console owners use up all 500 GB. There is also a 1TB version of the Xbox One that costs $50 extra , which is a better choice for gamers seeking more storage space.
In March 2017, Sony announced the 4.50 “Sasuke” update to the PS4 and PS4 Pro consoles. This update lets PlayStation VR headset owners watch 3D Blu-ray movies and also supports external hard drives up to 8TB. The external hard drive connects to the PS4 via USB and you can install games on the external hard drive instead of the PS4’s built-in hard drive. The Xbox does not support external hard drives.

A report from Ampere Analysis tracked unit sales of both the Sony PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S and compared to sales of their predecessors. According to their data, Microsoft and Sony sold either around the same or slightly fewer units of their current new gaming consoles than their predecessors in the same period of time after launch.
Sonys PlayStation 4 had unit sales of approximately 4.2 million units in the first few months after launch. That console launched in November of the year 2013. Fast forward to now, and the Sony suggests theyve sold 4.5 million units since launch at the tail end of 2020.
Microsofts launch is slightly less impressive, with Xbox One sales in the first few months after launch at 2.9 million units back in the last months of 2013 and first of 2014. Microsofts Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S sales in the same period here in the last few months racked up around 2.9 million units.
Ampere noted that Microsoft as able to launch in more than three times as many markets with Xbox Series X/S as it did with Xbox One. Its possible and likely that sales of the Xbox Series X/S will surpass those of the Xbox One over time not accounting for the many iterations of Xbox One that appeared over the years .
