Help Getting Ps3 To Output To Hdmi
Hi guys. So I got a PS3 a few days ago, I originally had it on my bedroom TV, but I found that the text was too small to comfortably read on that TV, so I moved it to the living room. I also bought an HDMI cable since the living room tv is huge.
I’m not able to get HDMI though. My TV is a 1080p 52 inch Samsung Smart TV, and I have an 80GB Fat PS3. Here are the things I’ve tried:
Just turning on the PS3 with only the HDMI cable plugged in, with the Source on my TV set to the respective HDMI port. Result: Blank screen, TV is saying no signal.
Resetting by holding down the power button with just the HDMI cable, also tried different HDMI ports on the TV. Result: Same as above.
Plugging in component cable as well, selecting source on TV as component, turning on TV. Result: It asks me if I want to switch to HDMI, I hit yes and the screen goes black and eventually says no signal. If I switch to HDMI during this, same thing. I’ve also tried resetting/turning it off and back on again during the time the screen turns black. Same thing.
Having both HDMI and Component plugged in, source set to component, and instead I hit “No” when it asks if I want to switch to HDMI. Then I go to Display settings and switch to HDMI there. Result: Same as above.
I seriously don’t know what to do here. I’ve looked it up online and can’t find any solution that works.

My advice is go get an Xbox, you wont regret it, note you will have to join Xbox live to have any real fun outside of game play, but it is worth it.
PS3 gets you with a system that burns up and goes out in about two years time, Xbox rape you on the Xbox live plan. Either way even having to pay for online play and services Xbox is far more stable, especially when it comes to games that are PC to console, less translation and all since Xbox is Microsoft, and the programing is very similar.
Anyway if you choose to stay with Sony get use to this sort of crap, and don’t buy any games that Bethesda make, cus if you do they are essentially broken games for the PS3, unplayable.
Sony has turned into Sega to me, and I am done, they can shove their next console up their %$@, they will have to prove themselves to me again before I spend another dime on anything they do game system wise.
