On a Windows 10 PC, you can plug in Xbox 360, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X|S controllers to play certain games.
Some PC games require a controller, and few controllers beat Xbox when it comes to PC gaming. Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S controllers can all be used to play games on Windows 10 PCs–for the latter two, you can even connect them to your machine wirelessly.
There are actually a few ways to connect an Xbox controller to your PC. A wired connection is the easiest to do, though the two wireless options aren’t that difficult to pull off either. It really just comes down to your personal preference.
Here’s How To Use An Xbox One Elite Controller On Ps4
If you dropped $149.99 / £119.99 on an Xbox One Elite Controller, it’s understandable that you’d want to use it just about everwhere – including on your PS4. Plug in one little USB stick and now you can: the most recent firmware update for the CronusMAX Plus controller-swapping dongle adds wired support for the high-end controllers.
You’ll need to attach both your Xbox controller and a DualShock 4 controller to a standard USB 2.0 or higher hub, then plug the hub into your updated CronusMAX Plus dongle, then plug that into your PS4 to get the whole kit working. But keep that setup in place and it should work indefinitely, using the powered-down DualShock 4 to spoof Sony’s hardware verification measures and your swanky Elite controller to score headshots. You can even load up some pre-made scripts if you want to emulate the DualShock 4’s touchpad or Share button.
You will need to maintain a wired connection, unfortunately, and the standard boilerplate about using non-standard hardware potentially being picked up as cheating applies. But until Sony releases its own super-deluxe controller, it’s the next best thing.

When I first unboxed the Xbox One Elite controller at Stuff HQ, I was immediately swarmed by a gaggle of crooning gamers who, after caressing its metal paddles and beautifully finished body, came out with phrases like sexy trigger action.
It is a lovely thing, but almost entirely useless for me as I mostly play on a PS4. Im not one to give up easily though.

Connect An Xbox Controller To Your Pc Via Wired Cable
You can buy wired Xbox 360 controllers, but if you’re using an Xbox One controller, you’ll need a micro-USB cable, and if you’re using an Xbox Series X|S controller, you’ll need a USB-C cable. For Xbox One controllers, we recommend using the cable included in the Xbox One Play and Charge Kit. And for Xbox Series X|S controllers, you should buy the Xbox Rechargeable Battery + USB-C Cable bundle. That said, in our experience pretty much any micro-USB or USB-C cable will do, so you may already have a cable you can use lying around your home–some of us use our old cellphone charging cables to connect our Xbox controllers to our Windows 10 PCs.

Connect An Xbox Controller To Your Pc Via Bluetooth
Connecting your Xbox controller via Bluetooth requires the most steps, but it’s also the only method that doesn’t ask you to buy anything other than the controller–no cables or adaptors are needed. That said, you will need to buy a specific controller.
This method will not work for Xbox 360 or original Xbox One controllers. You will need an Xbox One controller that entered production alongside the Xbox One S or an Xbox Series X|S controller. So basically no Xbox controllers that were made prior to August 2016.
The easiest way to know whether you have an Xbox controller that supports Bluetooth is to read the supported features listed on the side of the box it came in. If you no longer have the box, you can tell just by looking at how the controller is designed. The original Xbox One controllers have a larger plastic molding along the top. The newer Xbox One controllers and Xbox Series X|S controllers incorporate bumpers with a wider click range and feature a smaller top plastic molding.

And There You Have It
The only way to play with a Playstation 4 controller on the Xbox One is by buying a third-party adapter. If you are willing to pay for it, using it is quite simple.
You can also connect your Dualshock to an Android phone. If you want to learn how to check out our guide here. Also, you can connect it to the ps5, but it will only play ps4 games.
Are There Ps4 Controllers That Look Like An Xbox Controller
What if you want to use your controller wirelessly and actually use headphones/headsets with your device? No problem as there are several PS4 controllers that are shaped like an Xbox controller.

What About The Reverse Using An Xbox Controller On The Playstation 4
Unfortunately, this adapter doesn’t work in reverse, but the same company did release the opposite product, the Xbox One Controller to PS4 Console Super Converter.
You can use this dongle to play with your Microsoft Wireless Controller or the Elite gamepads on your PS4, it works pretty much the same way as the Playstation adapter. Just keep in mind that it doesn´t support the controller’s headphone jack, so no headsets will work with it.
How To Pair An Xbox Controller With Your Iphone
Now, let’s pair an Xbox One controller. Here’s where things get, to quote Gollum from Lord Of The Rings, “Tricksy.” Not all Xbox One controllers will work with your iPhone, iPad or AppleTV. Specifically, you need a model 1708 controller, aka the one that came with the Xbox One S.

Good news! The new Xbox Series X|S controller, the;Xbox One controller, and the Xbox 360 controller all work on PC without needing to install any additional programs. Simply connect the wired or Bluetooth controller to your PC. We recommend using the built in configuration button on the Xbox controller. That said, you may have your personal preferences which you can edit in the options section.;The method used to connect an Xbox controller to the PC is the same as the above generic controller.;
Warning:;You will notice that the Xbox 360 controller does not work well when you connect it to your PC via Bluetooth. The Xbox 360 controller works better when you plug it in with the cable.
How Does Brookes Ps4 To Xbox Adapter Work
Using the adapter is simple, but it requires a bit of setup the first time you use it, as it needs to register the controller.
Plug the adapter to your Xbox One, and then your controller to the adapter with a USB cable, then wait for a couple of minutes until your DualShock´s lights turn on. If nothing happens, try pressing a button and see if the screen reacts.
If everything went well, unplug the USB cable from the adapter and begin playing wirelessly.
The next time you want to play, you don´t need to plug in your controller with the cable, simply connect the adapter and press the home button on the gamepad while the console is hibernating or shut down.
That´s it. You should be able to play with your Dualshock 4 without issue. The adapter will automatically reconfigure the buttons, but you can customize them if you want.
This product does have a couple of glaring limitations. For one, it only works with one controller, so if you want to play with two, you´ll have to buy an additional adapter. The other problem is that the audio jack on your gamepad will not work, you can´t connect your headphones to it while you play.

Best Small Pc Controller: Nacon Rig Pro Compact

Best Controller For Android: Powera Moga Xp5
The PowerA Moga XP5-X Plus is one of the best controllers for Android we’ve ever used, thanks to its surprisingly high build quality, convenient clip-on form factor and clever built-in 3000mAh portable charger. Gaming on mobile does hit the battery hard, so it’s great to see a built-in way of ameliorating this disadvantage. The tactility of the controller is reasonable too, although it doesn’t quite match the feel of a new Xbox or PlayStation gamepad – there’s a little softness in the d-pad and the face buttons. Still, for the money you’re paying, the overall experience is high quality.
Unfortunately, support for wired controllers in native Android games can be hit or miss, with Bluetooth gamepads like the Xbox One controller seemingly being supported in a greater number of games. It’s worth researching your favourite titles online before pulling the trigger if it’s these native games that are motivating you to consider a gamepad. Still, for the games that support it, the Moga XP5-X offers a big improvement to tactility and control.

Using The Dualshock 4 In Steam
Thanks to official Steam support, there’s almost no setup involved in getting your controller working in Steam. To set it up, Simply plug in a USB cable and open Steam’s Big Picture mode.
Open Settings, then Controller Settings, and you should see your controller listed there. You can click on Preferences to tweak a few options like Rumble and the light bar color, and also click Calibrate to fine-tune the joysticks. One important tip: click the check box next to “PlayStation configuration support” if you want to be able to do extra configuration of the controller on a per-game basis.
To access that customization, boot up a game in Big Picture mode, then press the PlayStation button on the controller. You’ll see this screen where you can tweak the controller to your heart’s contenteven play around with the gyro sensor!
