As usual, its close to time for the next game in the annual basketball series, NBA 2K21. This years edition, however, has seen some controversy surrounding its next generation console versions. Not only will the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions cost you $10 extra, the only upgrade path for those who buy on current systems is to buy the most expensive edition. However, at the very least, it seems one part of the game will allow you to transfer between the two.
As detailed in the latest Courtside Report, your MyTeam material can be transferred from current to next generation versions in the same console family. Meaning going from PS4 to PS5 and Xbox One and Xbox Series X. According to 2K, your entire collection can be brought over, though theres no specific details as of yet about how theyll go about that.
MyTeam will also see a few new things, such as new modes like MyTeam Limited, limited-time events where you can collect Championship Rings, as well as Ascension that allows you to customize cards. You can see a trailer detailing that below.
NBA 2K21 will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, PC on September 4th and Stadia with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions set to come later.
Ps4 To Ps: How Do Free Upgrades Work
PS4 to PS5’s free upgrades will work differently depending on how the publisher decides to support the initiative and which versions of the games you own. For example, if you purchase a digital copy of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on the PS4, then you’ll be able to upgrade to a digital copy of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on the PS5 free of charge. If you own a physical copy of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on the PS4, then you’ll need to hold on to your copy of the disc, as you’ll need to use this to play Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on the PS5.

Nba 2k21 Allows Carry Over Of Myteam Content To Ps5/xsx Without Special Edition Purchase
Last month it was revealed that only those who buy the $100 NBA 2K21: Mamba Forever Edition will get to upgrade from the current-gen version of the game to the PS5 or Xbox Series X versions, but it seems 2K Games isnt so leery about crossgen support when it comes to their lucrative Ultimate-Team-style MyTeam mode. Today 2K announced that all MyTeam content and currency will automatically carry over from the current to next-gen versions of NBA 2K21, although only within the same console family .

So yeah, as long as youre shelling out for card packs, 2K has your back when it comes to crossgen support. At this point, most NBA 2K players are used to the series mercenary approach to, well, everything, but 2K is being particularly bald-faced in this case. But hey, at least they didnt announce any new casino games for MyTeam this year.
NBA 2K21 comes to PC, Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Stadia on September 4. Xbox Series X and PS5 versions should arrive later in the year. A current-gen NBA 2K21 demo will be available later this month.

NBA 2K gameplay will definitely be positively affected by the move to the next-gen consoles. In the interview we mentioned before, Wang said For me, the nut that needs to be cracked is things like improved physics, faster hardware that can run some heavy computations that were trying to do. Thats gonna affect a lot of things: improved physics models, improved foot planting. Some of the tech we run is pretty expensive, and to run it, sometimes we have to dial it back, he says. For example, how often we change animations or things like that. So Im excited to see what more powerful hardware can do in speeding those things up so we can push more content and do it faster.
So expect to see more realistic basketball physics, better foot planting, more fluid and seamless animations, as well as increasing the quantity of animations, thanks to the hardware upgrade of next-gen consoles.

A user on Twitter reached out to the 2K support team and got some clarification on the matter. The answer will likely disappoint many of you because its something that has been an issue for many years.
According to the support representative from 2K, each console has their own save unique to that particular console and are not interchangeable. From their response, the community now knows that saves are console specific. Therefore, NBA 2K21 MyCareer progress cannot transfer between consoles.

If you’re a paying PlayStation Plus member, you can transfer your data through the magic of the cloud.
No, not the fluffy things that hang in the sky: Sony’s cloud storage service that lets you store game data on the internet, rather than your hard drive.
To start with, you’ll need to make sure you’ve synced your PS4’s data with the cloud.
On your PS4, head to Settings > Power Saving Settings > Set Features Available in Rest Mode > tick the box next to Stay Connected to the Internet.

How Nba 2k22’s Cross
NBA 2K22 will support cross-gen progression, meaning players can bring their MyTeam collection and any earned or purchased currency with them.
NBA 2K22 is the next game in 2K’s long-running basketball simulation franchise. Like NBA 2K21, the game is being supported across both last- and current-gen consoles. That means, players can upgrade from PS4 to PS5 or Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S without needing to worry about purchasing the game twice when it launches on September 10.
The one thing that’s important to keep in mind, however, is how 2K is handling cross-gen progression. Like many other sports games, 2K22 has an Ultimate Team mode called MyTeam. Here, players can earn new cards of their favorite superstars from the NBA’s past and present. If they had to start over when upgrading to a new console, that would be a major hindrance for dedicated 2K fans.

What Are You Impressions Of The Revamped Mycareer
To try and give myself a different experience with the game, I took the G League route and I didnt regret it. The story was actually pretty good! Best one in years, in my opinion. And it was great to see some of the older casts of 2k main characters return
One thing that has annoyed me to no end, though, is the fact that I have to be in Rookieville before I can go out and experience the city. You have to have a Rep level of Pro 1 before you escape Rookievilles clutches, which means you have to play park games. And, let me tell you, I hate Park games. I felt the storyline offered in the last-gen version of MyCareer was pretty tired and nothing we havent seen before, but next-gen 2K21 gives you options. You can opt to play a full four years in college and continually develop your player before hitting the league, should you choose to do so, but I highly recommend taking the G League path. 2K did a great job creating a fun G League storyline that honestly might be my favorite in the franchises history, while adding in some gameplay twists and goals to keep things interesting.

Its nothing revolutionary yet. This generational upgrade was always going to be less of an eye-popper than the one that preceded it , with the main benefits showing up elsewhere, like the elimination of loading times.
Next-gen 2K21 looks great but last-gen 2K21 also looked pretty great! The main differences youll notice are with things happening around the court. The atmosphere inside the arena has been enhanced with more detailed fans, and more things going on around the on-court action. Nick

What’s Been The Biggest Improvement For You From Last
The elimination of loading times is pretty mind-blowing. The game starts up incredibly quickly, and you can get from your PS5 home menu onto the court in no time at all. Everything is so quick, in fact, that I find myself annoyed whenever theres a timeout called in a MyCareer game and I have to wait a few seconds before advancing.
The feel of the PS5 controller is also incredible. The adaptive triggers and haptic feedback are something you just dont want to do without once youve tried it, and in my opinion will give multiplatform games on PS5 a considerable edge over the Series S|X versions if developers take advantage of the tech.
