Experience The Best Playstation Has To Offer When Playing On Ps4 Pro

Me Buying a PS4 in 2020

Released three years after the original PS4 console launched on November 10, 2016, the PS4 Pro caters to console players who want to enjoy games at the highest possible graphical fidelity. It greatly improves upon what came before by making use of better processing power, a more sophisticated chassis design, and eliminating the likelihood of slowdown and frame rate drops. A PS4 Pro boosts the PlayStation experience by quite a bit and is a must for gamers that want to enjoy the newest, latest and best.

Ps4 Pro Vs Ps4 Slim: Bottom Line

All in all, the PS4 Slim is a good budget buy, while the PS4 Pro is a wise choice for gamers with 4K televisions who want the very best experience available. That is, if you want a PlayStation right now. Waiting for the PS5 might be a good idea if you want to make more of an investment, albeit a more expensive one, in long-term gaming enjoyment.

You also shouldn’t forget about Microsoft’s offerings either, even if you consider it blasphemy to buy a non-Sony console. There’s the $249 Xbox One S, which has a 4K Blu-ray player and offers HDR gaming, as well as the $499 Xbox One X, which offers even more 4K power than the PS4 Pro, although it does cost more. Then there’s the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, the next-gen Xbox consoles. Like the PS5, they are more expensive and harder to find than the older models, but will have a longer life overall.

PlayStation Plus costs $60/year, making it an additional cost to consider. But if you want to play a lot of these titles, waiting for a PS5 and subscribing to Plus is more cost-effective than getting a PS4 and buying them individually.

PlayStation 4 Pro also offers 4K video streaming and enhanced graphics on supported titles. Game developers will have the option to offer higher quality graphics to PS4 Pro gamers, which will be clearly labeled with PS4 Pro Enhanced on the box. Not only are most new PlayStation games being made to support this Enhanced ability, many of the more popular games from the past year are releasing updates to look better through the more capable console.

As for HDR support, while all of these consoles are technically capable of outputting HDR visuals thanks to a software update from Sony, the HDR content offered by almost every app and game doesn’t apply to anything but the Pro. HDR is typically tied to either 4K content or PS4 Enhanced content, neither of which will play on these older consoles.

Ps4 Pro: Specs Release Date And Price Confirmed

PS4 Price Rumors – How much money would YOU pay?

After announcing a new PlayStation console just prior to E3, Sony finally shares new details on its new, more powerful PlayStation 4 Pro.

As expected, Sony today unveiled its new, more powerful PlayStation console, which is called PlayStation 4 Pro. It will launch on November 10, 2016 and cost $399/£349/A$560.

The console will complement the standard PS4 and sit alongside it. The name was picked to show that it is part of the current version of the console, but aimed at the higher-end gamers. It is not an entirely new architecture and thus not a new generation of PlayStation hardware.

During the PlayStation Meeting event, Andrew House, president and group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, discussed Sony’s decision to pursue 4K and HDR, which are two of the major new features the PS4 Pro enables. House described these as “natural” paths of progression for visual fidelity. He went on to introduce lead architect Mark Cerny, who said Sony’s vision is to “take the PS4 experience to extraordinary new levels.”

“Our goal is to deliver high-fidelity graphical experiences,” he added. “We aim to provide developers with tools to further their visions.”

Among the hardware upgrades in the PS4 Pro are a 1TB hard drive, doubled GPU power, and technology adapted from AMD Polaris graphical architecture. These allow the PS4 Pro to reach resolutions “not thought possible on consoles” in 2016. The CPU clockspeed has also been boosted. The Pro will not have a 4K Blu-ray drive.

Is The Ps4 Slim More Powerful Than The Xbox One’s

The original PS4 was slightly more powerful than the original Xbox One, giving it a resolution and frame rate advantage for some cross-platform games. Ps4 Pro Set For Massive Price Drop As Sony Stops Production In Favor Of Ps5

The PS4 Pro might be disappearing from store shelves for good in the near-future

ByJacob HeayesLast updated 2020-12-21T13:12:29.814Z

As the PS5 continues to sell out at record pace, plenty of players will be spending another Christmas with their old reliable PS4. Those looking to snap up an older console for cheap could be in for a nasty surprise however, as Sony appears to be discontinuing the PS4 Pro.

Released in 2016, the PS4 Pro is positioned as an upgraded PS4 capable of supporting 4K, although this is done via dynamic upscaling. Unfortunately, the PS5s ability to deliver native 4K gaming at 60fps at a similar price somewhat renders those Pro benefits moot. The next-gen console might be superseding the PS4 Pro altogether if a Sony store listing is accurate, which means we could see a big price drop for the console!

A Reddit poster first discovered the unusual message on the PS4 Pros PlayStation Direct store page. Underneath the out of stock alert, Sony has alerted buyers that there are currently no plans to restock this item in the future.

We checked out the store listing for ourselves and as of the time of writing, the notice is still online. Whilst there is no official statement yet, its a grim outlook for the future of the PS4 Pro, although there is a possible silver lining.

If you’d prefer to get your 4K gaming on a current-gen console, you can keep tabs on PS5 restocks with T3’s where to buy PS5 guide.

How Long Will The Ps4 Receive Support

In January 2021, Sony Japan confirmed that it was ceasing production of almost all PS4 models. This was unexpected, since the company had earlier claimed it would support the PS4 for several years.

This means that if you want to buy a new PS4, you should do so quickly. Once the existing supply dries up, it will be difficult to find one. But if you do get a PS4 now, how long should you expect game support to last? To estimate, we can look back at the last console generation.

The PlayStation 3 was released in 2006 and discontinued in 2016 in North America. It received cross-generation titles until the end of its life. For example, 2015’s Call of Duty: Black Ops III was the last Call of Duty title released for the system, though it was a watered-down version with no campaign mode.

This was similar for exclusive games. MLB The Show 16 was the final PS3 version of the yearly series published by Sony. Prior to this, 2014’s LittleBigPlanet 3 was the last major Sony-published title on the system.

The PS4 arrived in 2013, when the PS3 was seven years old. Since the PS5 launched in 2020, this puts the PS4 on the same timeline as last generationâthough the existence of the PS4 Pro complicates this a bit.

Sony has confirmed that Horizon Forbidden West will release on PS4 in 2021. However, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, another upcoming 2021 title, is PS5-only.
