How Does It Work

PS Now is mainly a cloud-based service much like Netflix or Spotify, but for gaming. It hosts a wide collection of PS2, PS3 and PS4 titles . You can access them at your leisure, all through a PS Now app on your PlayStation 4 or PS5.

It uses technology acquired when Sony bought cloud gaming company Gakai and some of the technologies of the since-deceased OnLive. It allows you to play games that are not hosted on your own local console, but on massive servers elsewhere.

In a similar fashion to Xbox’s Project xCloud and , the video of the game is streamed over the internet to the display you are using, with controller commands and your actions sent the other way. This happens almost instantly, so the effect is similar to running them from your console’s storage.

Some PS4 games on the platform are available to download too, which work exactly like their equivalents bought from the digital PlayStation Store and are run from your console rather than remotely. You will need the hard drive space to install them and they only work while you continue to subscribe, but you will notice better graphical resolution and no lag or latency issues.

What About The New Ps Plus Tiers

Today Sony announced a revamp of the PS Plus subscription service that will change the way it looks entirely. Rolling together PS Plus with PS Now, the new service will take on a more rounded look and offer more in each of the three new tiers: PlayStation Plus Essential, PlayStation Plus Extra, and PlayStation Plus Premium.

An important thing to note straight away is that the Essential level will represent no change for current PS Plus subscribers and that is the equivalent new tier for all of those folks – you will transfer right over to this when it kicks in, and it will remain the same price. What Is Ps Plus

PlayStation Plus is a monthly subscription service that enables online, multiplayer play for PS4 and PS5 games.

It is required to play the vast majority of games online – only some free-to-play titles are exempt.

It started many years ago, with the service launching for PlayStation 3 initially. It was also available for PS Vita users, but both consoles have long since been discontinued and PS Plus is no longer active on either.

Sony has confirmed what subscribers can expect next for the July 2022 update. Joining the PS Plus Extra library on July 19, we’ve got:
