Is There A Specific Restock Time

Sony hasn’t fully laid out a PS5 restock time to buy from PlayStation Direct email invites. However, we do have a few details we can work with to give you a better idea.

First, there’s going to be an expiration date attached to the email invite you get. “If selected, the expiration date and time will be included in your selection notification email and while supplies last,” according to Sony.

Second, if there is a specific time attached and if there’s still a virtual queue process, it could stick with the time it’s been using most recently: 2pm EDT / 11am PDT. It has also used 3pm EDT / 12pm PDT in prior months. But for all we know, Sony could go with a time window over a specific time.

How Do You Register For A Ps5 From Sony

Registration is simple. Note, however, that this is currently only available for US customers at the time of writing.

In order to register for a Playstation 5, direct from Sony, you just need to head to the registration page linked above. You’ll need to sign in at PlayStation.com, using your PlayStation Network credentials. Then you can register. If you’re successful, Sony will email you a link to buy the console from them. Happy Holidays!

Be aware, though, that you need to use the same email address as the one linked to your PSN account for this to work. It says so in the registration rubric, so Sony will honor that and only invite you if the two emails match up.

When Are Retailers Releasing New Ps5 Stock

Now that we’re well into 2022, there was low stock for the first half of the year, but things have started to improve. Two major restocks directly at PlayStation both lasted for well over an hour, easily some of the best availability we’ve seen to-date.

Stores are notoriously unreliable when giving prior notice for PS5 restocks. Some may announce that morning or the night before, while others just drop them with no fanfare. Retailers will, in all likelihood, have more stock throughout the coming months, so you’ll probably have several chances to grab a PS5. Inventory can vary between retailers, with some only offering online orders and others offering in-store pickup.

Part of the reason stock is so scarce is the ongoing pandemic and a global chip shortage that’s instrumental in making the PS5. It’s unclear when the semiconductor chip shortage will wane, but the Biden administration is looking to ensure something like this doesn’t happen again as it involves the tech industry at large.

During an earnings call in August 2021, Sony CFO Hiroki Totoki mentioned that the company had secured enough chips to hits its sales targets by March 31, 2022. The company should ship close to 15 million PS5 units by then. Further details came from Sony’s financial results for the quarter ending Dec. 31, 2021. Over 17 million PS5 units had been shipped at the time, with Sony having adjusted its expectations to seeing 19.3 million units shipped by March 2022.

Your only credible alternative right now is EE, where a bundle with a second controller is available for £519.99 or £515.99 over the course of 11 monthly payments. Aside from that, youll end up paying significantly more for other bundles with various games or accessories.

Still, stock keeps popping up briefly at various retailers, so its worth continuing to check often.

This all began on November 10th when the platform holder announced that it would roll out an expansion of its PlayStation Direct store throughout Europe, after previously only being available in the US. It then first went live with its first batch on November 15th, before subsequent restocks took place on November 19th and November 22nd, respectively.
