Sony has changed its PS Store refund policy to allow for PS4 digital game refunds within 14 days of purchase. This also includes DLC, full games, themes, avatars, and season passes. However there’s a catch. Sony states that if you have started to download or stream purchased content, you can’t get a refund unless its faulty. Which could alleviate issues with games like Anthem which has reportedly been crashing PS4 consoles.
“After purchasing this type of content through PlayStation Store, you have 14 days from purchase to request a refund to your wallet on PlayStation Network. If you started to download or stream the purchased content you are not eligible for a refund unless the content is faulty,” reads the support page on the official PlayStation site. “To request a refund for Games, DLC, add-ons content, please contact PlayStation support.”
Players would also be able to request a refund at anytime up until the release date of a game. And if it was purchased post-release, a refund can be requested 14 days after the date of purchase.
This follows the announcement of Sony curtailing the online service to several of its PS4 games including Driveclub.

How To Request A Refund On The Playstation Store
Depending on the type of content you have obtained and the type of purchase the system to requesting a refund will vary however, the steps to follow are very simple.
To start the refund process you must choose chat with a Sony representative on the official Playstation support website.
On the page where your browser appears you will have to select «Sony Account Help». After these you will have to click on the tab called contact us.
At this point they will ask for your PSN ID and the email that is linked to that account. After this they will put you in contact with a representative from whom you will ask for a refund.
This will request the name of the game or DLC what did you buy. Once you provide the information requested by the Sony representative, you should wait between one or two days for a refund for the full cost of the content.

How To Turn Off Automatic Downloads
Since downloading a game will prevent you from being able to request a refund in most cases, its a good idea to turn off your PS4/PS5s Automatic Downloads feature if you think you may change your mind about a purchase.
Follow the steps below to turn off Automatic Downloads on PS5:
Open Settings.
Click on System Software> System Software Update and Settings.
Turn off by moving the slider to the left.
Return to the Settings screen.
Click on Saved Data and Game/App Settings.
Under Automatic Updates, turn off Auto-Download and Auto-Install in Rest Mode by moving the sliders to the left.
Turning off the settings above will disable your PS5 from automatically downloading and installing games, updates, and preload data.
