In terms of physical release, well, things aren’t exactly as cut-and-dry compared to digital purchases. On December 18, CD Projekt Red established a unique helpline to assist with retail copy refunds. However, CDPR will only be fulfilling requests emailed through that line by the end of today, December 21. CDPR has made no additional statement about extending that proprietary refund window, only that it’s “a one-time initiative” meant for those who cannot refund through physical stores. Beyond today, the onus may solely be on the retailer where the game was purchased to fulfill refunds.
Some retailers have even specified that full refunds will be issued for Cyberpunk 2077 due to the circumstances. In a forum on the Best Buy website, the electronics retailer explained that Best Buy would fulfill Cyberpunk 2077 refunds in several categories: PS4, Xbox One, Collector’s Editions, and Xbox One Digital codes purchased through Best Buy. PlayStation digital refunds, if purchased through Best Buy, are still to go to the PlayStation Store to request a refund. This extension in return policy is also only valid through today, December 21, and Best Buy will return to its normal Return & Exchange Promise policy after today.

To rectify the situation it said it was issuing refunds to customers who have already requested one and would be expanding refunds to “anyone who purchased Cyberpunk 2077 digitally from the Microsoft Store, until further notice”.
To request an Xbox refund, users needed to follow the steps listed on the Xbox refund page .

The Cyberpunk team responded early on Friday morning said on Twitter that all purchased digital and physical copies of the game will continue to be supported and updated as they continue to improve gamer experience and said: “We are working hard to bring Cyberpunk 2077 back to PlayStation Store as soon as possible.”

Customers who took CD Projekt up on its offer to provide Cyberpunk 2077 refunds have started getting their money back and are reporting that they have not yet been asked to return the game.
Following three delays, the highly anticipated RPG released in December 2020 with a host of technical problems, most notably on last-gen consoles, which even resulted in the title being pulled from the PlayStation Store.
CD Projekt pledged to improve the overall experience via future updates, but also said customers not wanting to keep the game could opt for a refund.
Several users who chose to get their money back told Vice that they have now received a refund through PayPal but have not yet been asked to send the game back in the case of physical copies, or had their digital copy removed from their console software library.
One customer who bought the $250 Cyberpunk 2077 collectors edition said: I was surprised I didnt need to . So I still have everything. As a customer, I feel they made good on it. Just show proof and well return your money.
How To Get A Cyberpunk 2077 Refund From Retailers
Whether you can get a refund on a physical edition of Cyberpunk 2077 from a retailer really depends on the policy of the retailer you’ve purchased from.
, for example, allows games to be returned within 30 days though “Returned software or video games that are activated, used, or missing parts will incur up to a 100% restocking fee”.
GameStop’s policy says that games need to be returned in their original packaging and can only been refunded with 30 days of purchase. However, items that have been opened or played with will be refused. This has meant that Gamestop hasn’t be accepting refund requests for open copies of the game and has instead directed customers to CD Projekt Red for refund requests.
Game, in the UK, offer a refund policy for purchases made online provided the product is returned to their Returns Department within 28 days of receipt. Game also offers an exchange or credit note for purchases made in-store within 28 days of purchase.
It’s worth checking with the retailer you purchased the game from to see if they’re allowing refunds for purchases of Cyberpunk 2077 which don’t meet their policy requirements.
