Those familiar with the concept of primary PS4s will know how this works. If you turn on console sharing, any other accounts on that system will be able to play the games youve downloaded to the system or to extended storage, even if the machine is disconnected from the internet. As with a primary PS4, you can only turn on console sharing for one PS5 at a time.

Heres an example of how it works in practice: Lets say person one, Joel, signs into a PS5 for the first time. He downloads Ghostrunner the excellent cyberpunk wallrunning game by One More Level and enables console sharing, then walks away to, I dont know, play guitar and brood. Person two, Ellie, signs in. By that point, Ghostrunner has finished downloading. The game has piqued Ellies interest, and even though she didnt buy it, she can still play, because its downloaded onto the console Joel enabled console sharing on.

Conversely, Joel cant play Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Yes, Ellie downloaded Insomniacs cat simulator to the PS5s internal storage, but she disabled console sharing, so Joels locked out. How To Share Play On A Ps4

To start Share Play:

• Select > Start from the party screen. When a visitor joins Share Play, your consoles screen is shared with the visitor.
• To join Share Play as a visitor, select > Join Share Play from the party screen.

To let the Visitor play on your behalf:

• Select > Give Controller to Visitor from the party screen.
• To take the controller back, select > Take Back Controller from the party screen.
• Even after you take the controller, your screen will be shared until you stop Share Play.

To play a game together:

• Select > Give Controller to Visitor from the party screen.

How To Use Share Play On Ps5

After starting up your PlayStation 5, tap the home button on the DualSense controller. At the bottom of the screen, highlight the Game Base tab. The symbol looks like a half-circle with two players.

Choose the friend you want to play with and press X on the controller. Now, begin a Voice Chat. Once the room is set up, select View Voice Chat.

You should now be on the party menu. Below the room name, there are five symbols. You want to select the first that says Start Share Screen. Once selected, the process may take a few seconds to start.

In the party screen, it should now have a Share Screen | Share Play area below the symbols. Click it and then select Start Share Play. Highlight the person you want to share play with and press X.

You are then given three options. You can share your screen with the visitor to your game, let the visitor play the game as you, or play with the visitor.

In our example, you may notice the last option is greyed out. This will not be the case if youre using Share Play with a person on the same console. We are connecting a PS5 to a PS4 user.

Once youve selected an option, a notification will be given to your invitee.

Once youre in the game, you have 60 minutes to share the game with your friend. You can repeat this process as many times as you like. Have fun!
