Methods #2-4 above all allow you to transfer PS4 game data to your PS5, but they don’t transfer your actual save files. If you didn’t use method #1 to transfer your saves, you’ll need to use another way to copy save data over.
The first is with PlayStation Plus cloud storage, which is open to all PlayStation Plus subscribers. If you don’t have Auto-Upload enabled on your PS4 to back up your save data, head to Settings > Application Data Management > Saved Data in System Storage > Upload to Online Storage to upload relevant saves to the cloud.
Then, on your PS5, head to Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings. Choose Saved Data > Cloud Storage > Download to Console Storage. Then pick what you want to download data for.
If you don’t have PS Plus, you can copy save data using a USB flash drive. On your PS4, go to Settings > Application Data Management > Saved Data in System Storage > Copy to USB Storage Device. Choose the data you want to move to the flash drive and confirm the copy operation.

How To Transfer All Data To Your Ps5
For all of the transfer methods here, you will need to make sure that both your PS4 and PS5 are turned on and connected to the same network. You can use the same monitor or two different ones if that works best for you.
Before you start, make sure your PS4 is updated with the latest software possible. A prompt appeared for me when I was setting up my PS5.
When setting up your PS5, a prompt will also show up asking for a full Data Transfer. If you declined it earlier, you can access it by going into your Settings, then System, System Software and then Data Transfer.
During the data transfer, you need to have both consoles turned on and connected to the same network, if you are only using WiFi its recommended that you use a LAN cable to connect the consoles for faster transfer speeds.
You will be prompted to press the PS4 power button, once done the PS4 should restart, make sure not to unplug the power cable or LAN cable during this process.
Once the PS4 has restarted, you will be prompted to select any games that have been saved on your PS4 choose which ones you want to transfer over to the PS5, the transfer time will depend on your internet connection and the file size of the game.
Once you have selected your games, you will be sent to the Ready to Transfer screen. Your PS4 may turn off or restart during this process, this is normal, just make sure not to unplug or disturb the consoles during the transfer.
Transfer Game Saves With A Usb Drive
If the network transfer is giving you trouble, or if you have save data you want to transfer from a PS4 at someone else’s house, you can also back up your PS4 game saves to a USB flash drive. Start up your PS4, plug in the flash drive, and go to Settings > Application Saved Data Management > Saved Data in System Storage and select Copy to USB Storage Device. Select the game saves you want to copy over, and repeat this process for any other games on your system.
When you’re done, you can plug that flash drive into your PS5 and head to Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Saved Data > USB Drive. Choose Copy to Console Storage and select the game saves you want to migrate. Press the Copy button, and things should move onto your console storage fairly quickly, allowing you to pick up right where you left off .
