Now, if you dont have 4K, you dont want VR, and you dont play a lot or care about graphical fidelity, you probably dont need a PS4 Pro. Instead, youre someone who is sticking with their trusty PS4 and will probably take an interest in the PS5.

Scalpers Are Looking To Capitalize On Your Frustration
Each time you feel the rush of elation at adding a PS5 to your basket followed by a wave of frustration when there’s an error at checkout, it may tempt you to pay a little extra to end your search.
Scalpers are counting on it.
Using various methods, such as inhumanely fast bots, PS5 scalpers buy up as much stock as they can, leaving you with no choice but to pay usually many times above RRP if you actually want to play Sony’s new console.
With each cycle of excitement followed by frustration, you might justify buying from a scalper that much more, until you finally decide to give in. Don’t do it.
Remind yourself that the PS5 is not a limited edition console and that at some point you’ll be able to buy one at RRP within a few minutes, rather than wait in long queues for something that may not materialize.

If you’ve had your eye on the PS5 for several months but keep finding yourself coming up short after each stock drop, you might be better off waiting till the end of the year.
There are a;range of reasons Sony’s latest console has avoided your grasp. Unfortunately, over the coming months, that’s not likely to change.
Let’s explore why you should pause your search for the PS5 until the end of the year, or maybe even until 2022.
Many Games Little Time
This is not a direct problem of the PS5 as it is more a problem that I have with work-life balance. Simply put, there aren’t enough hours in a day to balance the commitments in my personal life, multiple work responsibilities, and juggle playing a bunch of games. Unfortunately, something’s got to give, and sadly these days, gaming has moved to the back burner.

Though I still enjoy it and have been known to really get into certain games pretty heavily, like Zelda: Breath of the Wild or God of War. My current backlog of PlayStation 4 games is hovering about 30. These are mostly new games that are still sealed, waiting to be consumed and enjoyed. And while I know the PS5 is backwards compatible with PS4 games, when taking this into account against the other reasons on my list, again the urgency to rush out and get a PS5 feels more like a poke than a push.

Can Deep Learning Fix The Need For Mid
Even on a $1,500 RTX 3090 graphics card, Cyberpunk 2077 struggles to maintain a consistent 60fps with ray tracing on at a native 4K resolution. What PC gamers have opted to do is instead use Nvidias DLSS, or deep learning super sampling with some tweaked settings.
DLSS, to put it simply, uses AI and Nvidias supercomputers to predict what a higher resolution frame might look like. So, players can run a game at 1440p on their computer and DLSS will use AI to interpret a 4K image. It works surprisingly well.
AMDs equivalent of this is FidelityFX Super Resolution. It hasnt launched yet, but AMD has said its open source and cross-platform, meaning that it can jump to PS5 and XSX/S.
At the moment, Microsoft is touting that the processor on the Xbox Series X/S has hardware baked in to allow for Super Resolution and other types of AI learning, hardware the PS5 lacks. The PS5 still can use AI super sampling, but not as fast or effectively.;
Earlier this year a patent surfaced from Sony that suggested the company is working on AI technology equivalent to DLSS. If it comes to fruition, then both the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 might forgo needing a mid-gen refresh.
But the packaging for both the PS5 and XSX touts 120fps and 8K resolution. If stronger hardware in a pro model can deliver proper 120fps gameplay at a 1080p or 1440p resolution, then AI-based supersampling can display that on the latest feature-rich televisions.
Waiting Could Get You A Better Deal At Least For An Xbox
Okay, take better deal with a grain of salt. This wont actually save you money on an Xbox Series X but it will save you money, and it spreads out the cost.
Im referring to the Xbox All Access program. You can essentially finance your purchase of either console$35/month for Series X, $25/month for Series Sand pay it off over the course of two years with no finance charges.
Better yet, this price includes Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which gets you both Game Pass and Xbox Live With Gold. That gets you access to a bunch of games, online play and xCloud game streaming all included in the monthly fee. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate also includes PCand is $15/month all by itself.
Right now, I dont think there are any more All Access pre-orders available. Ive checked Microsofts site and retailers and theyre all sold out and Coming Soon though this could obviously change at any time after publication.
The point is, if you wait a little bit you might be able to get a next-gen Xbox via All Access. It wont save you much money but it will spread out the big investment across two years.

Buy A Nintendo Switch
If you love gaming, and graphics are secondary to your enjoyment, then buy a Nintendo Switch if you havent already.;
There are some truly wonderful titles available on the system including Super Mario Odyssey, Animal Crossing, and the jam-jar of fun that is Super Mario 3D All-Stars.;
And thats not to mention my personal favorite game of all time: Zelda: Breath of the Wild.;
The Switch is now brimming with fantastic games, and at around $300, the system is far cheaper than the PlayStation 5 and, for my money, offers far better value.;For now, anyway.
You Wont Be Able To Wait In Line For A Playstation 5 On Launch Day
The PS5 won’t be stocked in retail stores on November 12, so there’s no need to leave your couch.
Console launch days are notoriously great camping events. Fans love lining up â often days before the launch â with enough supplies in-hand to wait on the pavement until midnight. Many gamers have fond memories of the anticipation leading up to that final countdown before racing home to connect it to the flatscreen.
Sony has put that practice to an end, at least temporarily, for the launch of the PlayStation 5. The company to warn fans that launch-day sales will be online-only this year. Brick-and-mortar stores wonât be carrying the next-gen console at all for the time being.
âPlease donât plan on camping out or lining up at your local retailer on launch day in hopes of finding a PS5 console for purchase,â the company wrote. âBe safe, stay home, and place your order online.â
Sonyâs right: this is definitely not the time to be tripping over each other while we run to the gaming section at Best Buy. Weâll just have to deal with doing that virtually this time around.
You can buy one the day of â Just because Sony isnât stocking its new console at GameStop on November 12 doesnât mean you canât buy one that day. Youâll just have to do so from the comfort of your warm bedroom instead.

Will I Need A 4k Tv For Ps5
Obviously, a CRT wont be able to handle the PS5, so dont use that. The good news is that you wont need a 4K TV to use a PS5 the chances are your current TV will do just fine.
In its Ultimate FAQs Sony confirmed that the PS5 does not require a 4K TV. Supported resolutions are 720p, 1080i, 1080p, and 2160p.
The main thing to look out for is the HDMI connection the PS5 has an HDMI 2.1 cable in the box, so youd get the best resolution if your set-up could match that quality.
Now, TVs that have HDMI 2.1 are still very high-end, so that would be a cause for concern were it not for the backwards compatibility of the technology. As long as your TV has an HDMI 2.0b connection, then it should be fine for PS5.
If youve got a Full HD TV with 1080p resolution, and somewhere to stick a HDMI cable, we imagine youll be just fine and dont need to upgrade. But you wont be seeing the graphics in their full glory!
