Before You Slap A Wad Of Cash Down On The Counter For A Ps5 Check Out The Ps4 Pro
I upgraded from a normal PS4 to a PS4 Pro on the same day the PS4 Pro was released, and it was one of the best decisions I have made.;
The PS4 Pro offers a big leap forward in graphical power and sets the stage for many PS4 games to dance away in 4K. Plus, you get improved graphics and enhanced frame rates.;
If you are still gaming on a normal PS4, a PS4 Pro may be a better investment for now.;
Ps5 Ps4 Pro Or Standard Ps4 How To Decide Which One Is Right For You
As a gamer, you may already have the PS4, or maybe you dont and youre trying to consider where to jump on board. We know the PS5 wont be here for a while, so you need something to play your games on in the meantime.
Thats why were going to look at the factors which will help you decide. Start by asking yourself a few questions:
- Do I own a 4K television with HDR support?
- Do I consider myself a hardcore gamer, or do I play casually?
- Do I have, or plan on getting, a PlayStation VR headset?
- Is Hard Drive Space a Problem For Me?
- Do I care about details like frame rates and graphical fidelity?
If you answer yes to at least two of those questions, you may be someone who could benefit a lot from the PS4 Pro. Even if you just answered yes to the 4K question, then the console could unlock the benefits of the TV you purchased. If youre hurting for hard drive space, the PS4 Pro also offers a terabyte of space to work with as well.
Now, if you dont have 4K, you dont want VR, and you dont play a lot or care about graphical fidelity, you probably dont need a PS4 Pro. Instead, youre someone who is sticking with their trusty PS4 and will probably take an interest in the PS5.
If you answered neither in our poll, you may not be a hardcore gamer right now, or you just want to enjoy the PS4. Regardless of which choice you pick, its never been a better time to be a gamer. PS4 and PS4 Pro both enjoy some of the best exclusive titles this side of the PS2 era.
Scalpers Are Looking To Capitalize On Your Frustration
Each time you feel the rush of elation at adding a PS5 to your basket followed by a wave of frustration when there’s an error at checkout, it may tempt you to pay a little extra to end your search.
Scalpers are counting on it.
Using various methods, such as inhumanely fast bots, PS5 scalpers buy up as much stock as they can, leaving you with no choice but to pay usually many times above RRP if you actually want to play Sony’s new console.
With each cycle of excitement followed by frustration, you might justify buying from a scalper that much more, until you finally decide to give in. Don’t do it.
Remind yourself that the PS5 is not a limited edition console and that at some point you’ll be able to buy one at RRP within a few minutes, rather than wait in long queues for something that may not materialize.

Why You Should Stop Looking For A Ps5 Until The End Of 2021
The PlayStation 5 is a sought after device, so you should hold firm and wait until 2022 to buy one. Here’s why.
If you’ve had your eye on the PS5 for several months but keep finding yourself coming up short after each stock drop, you might be better off waiting till the end of the year.
There are a;range of reasons Sony’s latest console has avoided your grasp. Unfortunately, over the coming months, that’s not likely to change.
Let’s explore why you should pause your search for the PS5 until the end of the year, or maybe even until 2022.
Many Games Little Time
This is not a direct problem of the PS5 as it is more a problem that I have with work-life balance. Simply put, there aren’t enough hours in a day to balance the commitments in my personal life, multiple work responsibilities, and juggle playing a bunch of games. Unfortunately, something’s got to give, and sadly these days, gaming has moved to the back burner.
Though I still enjoy it and have been known to really get into certain games pretty heavily, like Zelda: Breath of the Wild or God of War. My current backlog of PlayStation 4 games is hovering about 30. These are mostly new games that are still sealed, waiting to be consumed and enjoyed. And while I know the PS5 is backwards compatible with PS4 games, when taking this into account against the other reasons on my list, again the urgency to rush out and get a PS5 feels more like a poke than a push.

Can Deep Learning Fix The Need For Mid
Even on a $1,500 RTX 3090 graphics card, Cyberpunk 2077 struggles to maintain a consistent 60fps with ray tracing on at a native 4K resolution. What PC gamers have opted to do is instead use Nvidias DLSS, or deep learning super sampling with some tweaked settings.
DLSS, to put it simply, uses AI and Nvidias supercomputers to predict what a higher resolution frame might look like. So, players can run a game at 1440p on their computer and DLSS will use AI to interpret a 4K image. It works surprisingly well.
AMDs equivalent of this is FidelityFX Super Resolution. It hasnt launched yet, but AMD has said its open source and cross-platform, meaning that it can jump to PS5 and XSX/S.
At the moment, Microsoft is touting that the processor on the Xbox Series X/S has hardware baked in to allow for Super Resolution and other types of AI learning, hardware the PS5 lacks. The PS5 still can use AI super sampling, but not as fast or effectively.;
Earlier this year a patent surfaced from Sony that suggested the company is working on AI technology equivalent to DLSS. If it comes to fruition, then both the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 might forgo needing a mid-gen refresh.
But the packaging for both the PS5 and XSX touts 120fps and 8K resolution. If stronger hardware in a pro model can deliver proper 120fps gameplay at a 1080p or 1440p resolution, then AI-based supersampling can display that on the latest feature-rich televisions.
Waiting Could Get You A Better Deal At Least For An Xbox
Okay, take better deal with a grain of salt. This wont actually save you money on an Xbox Series X but it will save you money, and it spreads out the cost.
Im referring to the Xbox All Access program. You can essentially finance your purchase of either console$35/month for Series X, $25/month for Series Sand pay it off over the course of two years with no finance charges.
Better yet, this price includes Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which gets you both Game Pass and Xbox Live With Gold. That gets you access to a bunch of games, online play and xCloud game streaming all included in the monthly fee. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate also includes PCand is $15/month all by itself.
Right now, I dont think there are any more All Access pre-orders available. Ive checked Microsofts site and retailers and theyre all sold out and Coming Soon though this could obviously change at any time after publication.
The point is, if you wait a little bit you might be able to get a next-gen Xbox via All Access. It wont save you much money but it will spread out the big investment across two years.

Buy A Nintendo Switch
If you love gaming, and graphics are secondary to your enjoyment, then buy a Nintendo Switch if you havent already.;
There are some truly wonderful titles available on the system including Super Mario Odyssey, Animal Crossing, and the jam-jar of fun that is Super Mario 3D All-Stars.;
And thats not to mention my personal favorite game of all time: Zelda: Breath of the Wild.;
The Switch is now brimming with fantastic games, and at around $300, the system is far cheaper than the PlayStation 5 and, for my money, offers far better value.;For now, anyway.
You Wont Be Able To Wait In Line For A Playstation 5 On Launch Day
The PS5 won’t be stocked in retail stores on November 12, so there’s no need to leave your couch.
Console launch days are notoriously great camping events. Fans love lining up â often days before the launch â with enough supplies in-hand to wait on the pavement until midnight. Many gamers have fond memories of the anticipation leading up to that final countdown before racing home to connect it to the flatscreen.
Sony has put that practice to an end, at least temporarily, for the launch of the PlayStation 5. The company to warn fans that launch-day sales will be online-only this year. Brick-and-mortar stores wonât be carrying the next-gen console at all for the time being.
âPlease donât plan on camping out or lining up at your local retailer on launch day in hopes of finding a PS5 console for purchase,â the company wrote. âBe safe, stay home, and place your order online.â
Sonyâs right: this is definitely not the time to be tripping over each other while we run to the gaming section at Best Buy. Weâll just have to deal with doing that virtually this time around.
You can buy one the day of â Just because Sony isnât stocking its new console at GameStop on November 12 doesnât mean you canât buy one that day. Youâll just have to do so from the comfort of your warm bedroom instead.

Will I Need A 4k Tv For Ps5
Obviously, a CRT wont be able to handle the PS5, so dont use that. The good news is that you wont need a 4K TV to use a PS5 the chances are your current TV will do just fine.
In its Ultimate FAQs Sony confirmed that the PS5 does not require a 4K TV. Supported resolutions are 720p, 1080i, 1080p, and 2160p.
The main thing to look out for is the HDMI connection the PS5 has an HDMI 2.1 cable in the box, so youd get the best resolution if your set-up could match that quality.
Now, TVs that have HDMI 2.1 are still very high-end, so that would be a cause for concern were it not for the backwards compatibility of the technology. As long as your TV has an HDMI 2.0b connection, then it should be fine for PS5.
If youve got a Full HD TV with 1080p resolution, and somewhere to stick a HDMI cable, we imagine youll be just fine and dont need to upgrade. But you wont be seeing the graphics in their full glory!
New User Interface Experience
The PS5s user experience has been built from the ground up to coax the most out of the new hardware. Specifically, the new SSD.;
For starters, youll be able to jump from game to game in the blink of an eye. The SSD takes 1-3 seconds to load a game, so there are no more level loading screens, no more boring splash screens, just gameplay, instantly, every time.
And there are loads of other cool new features to play around with.
Youll get teal time, in UI, game hint videos. So youll have no excuse to get stuck on Demons Souls again.
Also, the UI will let you jump into any part of a game nearly instantaneously.;
Just been invited into a multiplayer match in CoD? You no longer have to boot the game and click through multiple menus to get into the game. Instead, the UIs home menu will generate a card for you to click on thatll boot you straight into the multiplayer arena, no waiting, just playing.;

The Case Of The Missing Console
A large problem for the next-generation of consoles in the last couple of releases has been availability at launch. While historically, gamers would queue up in lines that make Black Friday look diminutive for the latest and greatest consoles and games, systems in prior years were widely available to those who would brave the linesor knew someone who would get their console on day one.
I remember doing this with the Japanese release of Sony’s PlayStation 2, along with two release games, when a friend of a friend was able to secure one for me in Japan. He stood in “a pretty big line,” he said at the time, but also noted that at the particular location he went to, “anyone that wanted one was able to score it once they made their way through the line.”
Those days are largely gone, part of it is scalpers looking to make a quick buck , but another comes down to production levels being hit hard by the global COVID-19 pandemic. And while my experience with getting the PS2 day one doesn’t match up to other experiences, the for me there is something decidedly different about my previous procurements and today’s gaming market.

The store with the most frequent PS5 restocks is Sony’s official store,;PlayStation Direct. Drops usually happen at 2 p.m. PT during the middle of the week . What Sony has done lately is give a lucky few email invites for exclusive access to the store, which typically starts at 12 p.m. PT .;

How Can I Get Early Access To A Ps5 Restock
While most retailers very much want you to show up when something is marked in stock, the extended difficulty in getting a PS5 has encouraged GameStop to offer early access to sales for its paid members.;
If you want to increase your chances of getting a PS5 from GameStop, all you need to do is sign up for the PowerUp Rewards Pro program. This is a subscription program GameStop has had for years, and it uses this program to offer discounts and coupon codes as well as a subscription to Game Informer magazine.;
This program costs $20 per year, and if GameStop is true to its promise people who are a part of this program will be able to get a PS5 before it is available to everyone on the website.;
Ps5 Vs Ps4 Pro: Should You Upgrade
The PS5 is here but is Sony’s new console right for you?
Which is the best choice in a PS5 vs PS4 Pro showdown? Anyone who owns Sony’s PlayStation 4 Pro has probably been considering this question over the past nine months or so since the PS5 hit the market.
Although findingwhere to buy the PS5 is still proving to be difficult, we know stock levels are set to improve as 2021 rolls on, according to our PS5 restock tracker. That means, if youre on the fence about upgrading, its worth deciding whether you want to upgrade to Sony’s new console when the time comes, or if you should stick with what you’ve got already.
For starters, the PS5 significantly more powerful its GPU and CPU are far more capable than those youll find in thePS4 Pro. The next-gen console also loads games faster than ever before, which is thanks to its internal NVMe SSD.;
We also think that the newDualSense controller is a game changer. It uses haptic feedback and adaptive triggers to make games feel way more immersive than before.;
What were saying is, theres still some life left in the aging PlayStation 4 Pro yet. However, withSony now beginning to discontinue the Pro, time might be running out if you’re looking to buy one.;

Ps5 Digital Edition Vs Xbox Series S Specs
The PS5 Digital Edition is literally identical to the standard PS5 apart from the fact it doesnt include a 4K Blu-Ray drive. Its removal helps give the console a more symmetrical shape, but appearance aside, you wont find any differences when it comes to technical specs between Sonys two PS5 consoles. Check out the specs below:
- CPU: Eight-core up to 3.5GHz custom AMD Ryzen Zen 2
- GPU: 10.3 teraflops, variable frequency, up to 2.23 GHz
- RAM: 16GB GDDR6
- Optical: No disk drive
- Storage: 825GB NVMe SSD;
If youre happy to forgo physical media and prefer buying your games digitally, then the PS5 Digital Edition makes sense. There are a few caveats to consider, though. Physical games tend to be cheaper than their digital counterparts, and are more prone to heavy price cuts and sales. You can trade them in and recoup some of your investment, too. Theres also something rather comforting about owning a disc as opposed to a digital copy, but this isnt an issue for some.;
With digital titles often costing full price, if not more, it means that the $100 you initially save might quickly disappear once you’ve bought a few $70 / £69.99 PS5 games, and youll have no choice but to pay full price on the PlayStation Store.
- CPU: Eight-core 3.6GHz custom AMD 7nm;
- GPU: 4 teraflops at 1.550GHz;
- RAM: 10GB GDDR6;
- Framerate: Up to 120 fps;
- Resolution: 1440p with 4K upscaling;
- Optical: No disk drive;
- Storage: 512GB NVMe SSD;
