Ps5 Redesign Reported For 2022 But Will It Be Black

Much like the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch Pro, the PS5 is reportedly set to receive a hardware redesign next year. As reported by DigiTimes , the semiconductor manufacturer TSMC is ramping up plans for the new PS5 revision, which also includes a new AMD 6nm CPU.

While the Switch did not receive this hardware upgrade in 2021 , this rumour is still floating around for the PS5.

This would be the perfect chance for Sony to release colour variants of the PS5, but unfortunately, it seems this may not be the case. According to these reports, the redesign will focus on the internal components of the next-gen console.

However, there is still hope for a black PS5

Are Shorter Console Life Cycles The Future

Game consoles represent huge investments for consumers. Between the games, the accessories, and the subscriptions, its no wonder people get angry when we bring up the concept of yet another console. Boy oh boy, though, do people get angry! If you try to bring up the subject on forums like Reddit, expect to get sufficiently ripped a new one, as it were.

People are protective of their investments, which results in kind of a hostile and hush-hush environment for people like us who dare to dream. Whats interesting though is the double standard that exists in the world of technology. Bear with me for a moment here, lets consider something:

  • A new iPhone or Samsung Galaxy phone comes out each year and people rush to buy it, no questions asked.
  • A new console is hinted at, but wont be out for several years, and people lose their minds

Whats the deal? I get that these two examples cater to different types of consumers, but seriously? The level of acceptance versus the level of hostility is just insane. Heres the problem though: technology outpaces consoles insanely fast. Anyone who is a PC gamer will know, just when you think you have the greatest rig, a new GPU or CPU comes out and suddenly youre obsolete again.

If games took the form of apps and streamed to your television from cloud servers, then Sony would have no need to release new consoles. Instead they would sell the games through these streaming boxes and possibly offer a subscription like PlayStation Now as well.

Horizon Forbidden West Setting And Story

Watch Today

A direct sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, Horizon Forbidden West takes place 6 months after the end of the first game and will see Aloy travel west from her homeland to a new frontier setting. The reason for Aloy’s journey is to seek out her allies and a solution to the Red Blight, a mysterious organism that’s destroying the natural world and she’ll meet new tribes and new machines along the way. Horizon Forbidden West will take players to locations like San Francisco, Yosemite and beyond, with narrative director Ben McCaw telling GamesRadar that the vast, vast majority of the game takes place in the Forbidden West.

Game Director Mathijs de Jonge has told IGN that Horizon Forbidden West has a larger, more dense game world than Zero Dawn. According to de Jonge: The map is a little bit bigger, but in general, weve really looked at increasing the density, and adding more content, making sure theres a lot more to do for the player across the map, and then making that content also engaging by telling little micro-stories.

A Lesson In Economics: How Inflation Will Affect The Ps5 Price

“How to Pre order ps5” – RELEASE DATE, price (Playstation 5)

From what I recall, I got a decent grade in economics in high school, once I was out of my general education in college, I left math on the side of the road and never looked back. For the sake of you, my dear readers, I will once more tread that narrow path suspended above a black abyss of confusion and uncertainty.

First things first, a quick lesson on inflation for the benefit of myself and anyone else reading this whos last brush with economics was in high school. So, the straight vanilla ice definition of inflation is as follows:

A general increase in prices and fall in the purchasing value of money.

Essentially what this means is that inflation occurs when prices go up as a result of high demand and low supply. Take the PlayStation 3 for example. Everybody wanted it, but no one had it in stock. This kind of situation creates inflation over time because manufacturers can charge higher prices for items that are equally high in demand, but low in supply.

The process of inflation also affects how much a single dollar is worth. Of course, a dollar is always a dollar, but the actual value of it changes based on inflation. For example, a dollar today is worth far less than a dollar two decades ago. A dollar from then would be worth over twenty dollars today!

A recent article from IGN discussed the cost of gaming in regards to inflation over the years. Colin Moriarty, the articles author made an excellent point in regards to the price of game consoles:

Will The Ps5 Have Vr Support

Virtual reality has faded somewhat out of public consciousness but still has a fairly healthy following on the sidelines. Sony’s own VR headset, Playstation VR for example, has already passed three million units sold.

According to Bloomberg, Sony is developing a new VR headset for the Playstation 5 with updated specifications . We won’t likely see a release date for this until a while after the console is released.

For the time being, the existing PlayStation VR headset can be used, as its compatible with the PlayStation 5. This was something we were really impressed with during our test of Playstation 5

Ps5 Price Analysis And Release Date

  • PS5 release date: Out now
  • PS5 price: $499.99 / £449.99 / AU$749.95
  • PS5 Digital Edition price: $399.99 / £359.99 / AU$599.95

The PS5 released in North America, Australia, Japan, South Korea and New Zealand on November 12, 2020, which was just two days after the release of Microsofts next-gen consoles, the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. For the rest of the world, the console became available one week later on November 19.

In terms of the PS5s price, it costs $499.99 / £449.99 / AU$749.95 for the standard version of the console with a 4K Blu-ray disc drive. However, if thats more than you want to spend, theres also the PS5 Digital Edition, which is exactly the same apart from it removes the disc drive entirely. It costs $399.99 / £359.99 / AU$599.95, which is a saving of $100 / £90 / AU$150 over the standard model.

The PS5 is more expensive than the launch price of the PS4 and PS4 Pro, which both came in at $399.99, but they arrived seven and four years ago respectively now, and you’re getting a generational leap in hardware here for $100 more. The PS5 is still expensive, don’t get us wrong, but the jump in price does feel warranted for what youre getting.

  • Huge for a modern gaming console
  • Space-age aesthetic is polarizing
  • But the size means more space for air ventilation and a bigger fan
  • Capable of 4K/120fps gameplay as well as support for 8K/60
  • Faster loading times thanks to new SSD
  • Tempest 3D audio tech is like Atmos-lite
  • System runs cool and quiet nearly all the time

Playstation 5 Price: Recent History

PS5 Release Date, Specs, and Price

After much waiting, Sony announced the price and release date of the PS5 during its 16th September showcase. The Japanese giant’s 40-minute digital event featured “a look at some of the great games coming to the PS5 at launch “.

The real draw, however, was the promise of the price finally being revealed. Sony didn’t disappoint, with the PS5 Digital and PS5 prices set at £360 and £450 . That came as a pleasant surprise to those who’d expected the PS5 to be priced much higher than the rival Xbox Series X.

So how does the PS5’s price compare to that of its predecessors?

Both the original PlayStation and PS2 launched at £299 in 1994 and 2000 respectively. The PS3 was quite the step up in 2006, with the entry-level 20GB model starting at £425 although that was more or less in line with inflation with regard to the original PlayStation, and there were also the significant hardware upgrades to factor in, not least of all being the Blu-ray optical drive.

Nonetheless, the PS3 was initially criticised partly for its seemingly high price. The 60GB model’s $599 price tag took particularly heavy flack. By the arrival of the PS3 Slim in 2009, though, all seemed to have been forgiven.

The bigger public surprise was saved for the 2013 PS4 launch, however, when the PlayStation price dropped down to £350 and heralded the arrival of one of the best-selling games consoles of all time.

Horizon Forbidden West Price And Versions

Following a pre-order announcement from Sony, we finally know how much Horizon Forbidden West will cost at launch for its different versions.

The Standard Edition, which comes with just the base game will be $59.99 / £59.99 / AU$109.95 on PS4 and $69.99 / £69.99 / AU$124.95 on PS5. Alternatively, you could splash out on a series of more expensive options like the Special Edition , a Digital Deluxe Edition , or the Collector’s and Regalla editions which add physical statues and other goodies into the mix.

Originally, Sony made the controversial decision to not include a free PS5 upgrade for Horizon Forbidden West’s PS4 version. This has since been walked back due to fan backlash, with Jim Ryan announcing the PS5 upgrade will be free, and players will no longer need to purchase the Deluxe edition to be eligible for it.

Additionally, all future cross-gen titles will feature a flat $10 / £10 fee to upgrade from the PS4 to the PS5 version, which will likely include God of War: Ragnarok and Gran Turismo 7.

If you want to know more details about the various editions of Horizon Forbidden West, you can check out the full announcement on Sony’s website.

What Does The Ps5 Logo Look Like

There was enormous disappointment during the 2020 CES trade fair because Sony had promised to present something big. Many people thought it would be the PlayStation 5, but all we got was a….logo.

The logo for the PS5 is very like the one for the PS4, but at least it means that theres a high recognition factor.

Playstation 5 Specs And Features

When lead system architect Mark Cerny gave an interview with Wired magazine in April 2019, the world began to discover a little more about the next generation PlayStation that Sony has been working on for four years.
