What’s Better Ps5 Or Xbox Series X

What Does A Gpu Actually Do

PS5 vs Xbox Series X: Which Does What Best?

The GPU that sits in both the PS5 and Xbox Series X is the primary component of each machine that is responsible for graphics rendering. From supporting 8K resolution to more complex, cutting-edge visual techniques such as ray tracing, the next-generation GPUs that feature in both and PS5 and Xbox Series X are essential to facilitating the sort of leap over current gen consoles such as PS4 and PS4 Pro that consumers rightly expect.

Ps5 Or Xbox: Which Controller Is More Comfortable

This will really come down to personal preference. At present, the only person at Polygon who has used both of the new controllers is, uh, me. Personally, I find the PS5s DualSense more comfortable to hold for long periods of time, thanks to its longer handles and triggers that fit more naturally into my resting index fingers. The new Xbox controllers smaller handles are an improvement on the old design, but Im not sure about the new, stiffer triggers, which seem to require much more force than the old Xbox One triggers did.

That said, other members of the Polygon team have reported some hand cramping with the PS5 DualSense, so its heavily dependent on hand size and comfort preferences. Hard to say, but if you forced me to pick, Id go with the PS5 DualSense.

We still dont know the full specifications, or the design, or the price, but some are able to find very juicy data with a simple filtered detail. This time the intention is to know how fast the Xbox Series X will be in terms of reading and writing on disk, something that they seem to have found thanks to a Linkedin profile.

Ps5 Vs Xbox Series X: Cloud Gaming

Cloud gaming isnt a huge issue for either the PS5 or the Xbox Series X, since you can simply download games and play them natively on either platform. But as cloud gaming grows over the next few years, its good to know where each company stands at the outset of this console generation.

The PS5 has PlayStation Now, which lets you stream a variety of PS3 and PS4 games to your PS5 or PC. You can also download certain PS4 titles. It costs at least $8 per month, and doesnt work on mobile platforms.

The Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, as discussed above, costs $15 per month, and lets you stream games to Android. You still have to download full titles on a console or PC, however.

At present, neither Sony nor Microsofts cloud gaming service is complete. The Xbox Series Xs is a little better, however, in that it offers a mobile option, but the PS5s is a little better in that it offers a streaming option for non-gaming PCs. This one feels like a draw.

While both consoles are off to a strong start and show significant room for improvement, the Xbox Series X seems like a slightly better investment for the moment. With more powerful hardware, a better design, a more comprehensive game subscription service and a delightful controller, the Xbox Series X has the early lead in the next generation of consoles.

Xbox Series X Vs Ps: Price Comparison

Xbox X vs PS5: Which Gaming Powerhouse Do You Choose ...

The Xbox Series X price and PS5 price are identical.

Microsoft’s disc-based Xbox Series X console retails for $499 / £449 / AU$749, while the standard PS5 is also $499 / £449 / AU$749. It makes choosing between an Xbox Series X pre-order or a PS5 pre-order bundles a tough choice.

One of the reasons the PS4 proved the more popular console during the last generation was the fact that it launched at a more attractive price point of $399.99 / £349.99. That was a relative steal compared to the $499 / £429 Xbox One, which at launch had to factor in the cost of its ill-fated Kinect motion tracker. The Kinect was initially hailed as one of the key differentiators between the consoles, but proved unpopular with both developers and gamers, leading to Microsoft slowly phasing it out in an effort to drive the price of the overall package down with later console revisions.

Neither has made that mistake with their new consoles making the top-tier versions identically matched. It’s the digital-only versions then where the real differences become visible.

The digital-only Xbox Series S lands at $299 / £249 / AU$499 while the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition comes in at $399.99 / £359.99 / AU$599.95.

But it’s not a like-for-like comparison. Microsoft’s digital console is weaker than the others it focuses on 1440p resolution instead of 4K, and targets 60/120 fps. With the PS5 Digital Edition, however, it’s exactly the same spec as the standard edition just minus that physical disc tray.

Ps5 Vs Xbox Series X: Verdict

As we mentioned right at the start, this is a new console generation unlike any before it a console generation that doesnt unlock gaming in a new resolution, and doesnt bring with it a raft of new games that can only be played on the new machines. That leaves the PS5 and Xbox Series X having to justify their next-gen credentials in other ways, and Sonys console does this far more effectively than Microsofts.

That could well change in the future. This first batch of cross-platform games is also cross-generational. Almost every one of them has been designed to run on no fewer than ten consoles, from the original Xbox One to the Series X on one side, and the original PS4 to PS5 on the other, so expecting them to be fully optimised for next-gen is just silly. Once fully optimised games become a reality, likely in the next year or two, perhaps well see performance gaps between the PS5 and Xbox Series X appear but, for now, there just arent any of real significance.

None of which is to say that the Xbox Series X isnt a very good console. It delivers on its performance targets, its near-silent at almost all times, its decidedly compact next to the PS5, and its controller has had some neat little tweaks. It just doesnt go quite far enough, particularly in comparison to the PS5.

Final Verdict: The Console War Wages On With No Clear Winner

Microsoft ate Sony’s lunch when it released the Xbox 360 significantly before, and at a lower price point than the PS3, but Sony managed to turn that around in a big way with the PS4 dominating the Xbox One. With both the PS5 and Xbox Series X launching at about the same time, with similar price points, and similar hardware, this one is a coin toss.

The PS5 is likely to succeed on the back of its strong library of exclusive titles, while the Xbox Series X may have an edge due to slightly higher specifications and a unique rent-to-own pricing option that includes Game Pass Ultimate.

Our advice: PC gamers will get more value out of the Xbox due to Xbox Series X game exclusives being available for Windows 10, while console-exclusive gamers should make a decision based on Sony and Microsoft’s respective stables of exclusive game franchises. If you don’t care about the games available to play or all the technical spec, then focus solely on price: Your wallet will be happy and you’ll have great games to play with either console.

Ps5 Vs Xbox Series X: Which Is The Better Buy

Buying any console in the first few months following a launch is a gamble. The PS5 appears to be primed for greater short-term success after becoming officially the fastest-selling console of all time. Id also be lying if I said I havent enjoyed playing games on the PS5 more than I have the Xbox Series X. The DualSense really does make a difference. Yet, I also cant deny that if you dont care about new exclusive games and dont already own a competent gaming PC , the Series X represents incredible value alongside an Xbox Game Pass subscription.

The bottom line is that the PS5 and Xbox Series X are incredible consoles that ooze potential. Regardless of the contrasting strategies, they are equally laser-focused on making console gaming the best its ever been.

Ps5 Vs Xbox Series X: Performance

PS5 vs XBOX Series X (which is better for Fortnite?)

Comparing PS5 and Xbox Series X performance is difficult at present. While the Toms Guide crew works from home indefinitely, we dont have the tools to measure resolution and frame rate in great depth, nor can we watch games side-by-side or even solicit second opinions.

Bearing that in mind, I compared two games qualitatively across both systems: Assassins Creed Valhalla and Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition. The former is a huge open-world title, where its easy to measure load times as you fast travel from one distant point of the map to another. The latter is a fast, frenetic action game, where any drop in framerate is immediately noticeable.

First: Sonys ambitious claims about the PS5s load times arent exaggerated, as far as I can tell. Assassins Creed Valhalla went from the main menu into the game in less than a minute fast travel took less than 10 seconds from point to point. However, while the Xbox Series X took longer to load the game initially , fast travel time was exactly the same.

Gameplay-wise, if you handed me an ambiguous controller and put either the PS5 or Xbox Series X version of Assassins Creed Valhalla on a screen in front of me, I honestly wouldnt be able to tell the difference. Both systems ran the game at 4K at 60 frames per second , and neither one seemed to have any major difference in animation fluidity, lighting, etc. Texture pop-in seemed a little more noticeable on the Xbox Series X, although that may have just been the area I was in.

The Best Sales Figures

While you might expect that the victor in this category would be rather clear-cut, the data is actually quite limited when it comes to sale figures.

Production of both the Xbox Series X and the PS5 has been severely disrupted and, despite the fact that these consoles are over a year old now, it’s still extremely difficult to get a hold of either of them. In fact, people have managed to make careers by tracking the availability of this next-gen hardware, because it’s just that elusive.

If you wanted to buy a PS5 right this instant, then you would have to settle for a pre-owned unit or get lucky with one of Newegg’s daily shuffle draws. That’s how uncommon restocks are to this day, and the same goes for Microsoft’s console as well.

So, to clarify, the issue with sales is entirely to do with supply and not demand. It’s impossible to tell which of the rivalling systems would be getting the most business under normal circumstances, as exacerbated shoppers are just settling for whichever one they can get their hands on.

That being said, it does appear that Sony’s is currently the more lucrative product. According to the manufacturer’s most recent quarterly report , over 13.4 million PS5 units have been shifted thus far, which is comparable to what the PS4’s numbers looked like during the equivalent stage of its rollout.

Controllers And Peripherals: New Feedback Vs Backwards Compatibility

  • Xbox Series X controller is a slight update of the Xbox One controller.

  • You can use Xbox One controllers with the Xbox Series X.

  • The Xbox Series X controller will be compatible with Xbox One and PC right out of the box.

  • Still no plans from Microsoft to support VR on their consoles.

Sony and Microsoft will both debut new controllers to go along with their new consoles, but Sony is definitely going harder in this department. The controller for the PS5 is noticeably different from it’s predecessor with a curvy, almost boomerang-like design that looks slightly reminiscent of the PS3 prototype controller. The DualSense controller includes the same touchpad and share buttons that were present on the DualShock 3 controller but brings a handful of refinements, including a built-in mic with a dedicated mute button, as well as adaptive trigger tension that is intended to work with the haptic feedback in the DualSense controller for a more immersive experience.

The new DualSense controller is said to replace basic rumble functionality with advanced haptics designed to simulate the feel of touching and interacting with things in the game world. The differences are so great, in fact, that you won’t be able to play games on your PS5 with PS4 controllers.

Reasons To Buy An Xbox Series X Instead Of A Ps5

Its not easy to find an Xbox Series X|S or a PlayStation 5 these days, but as gamers wait around for their chance to drop several hundred dollars on a new video game console, its worth asking which one is bestor at least, which one makes the most sense for you.

In the past, picking the console your friends play on made the most sense for anyone worried about multiplayer gaming, but with games now often cross-platform and cross-play thats become less of a concern.

We often discuss raw horsepower when it comes to gaming consoles, but there is honestly so little difference between the Xbox Series X and the PS5 its almost negligible. The Xbox Series X is a bit more powerful, but most people wont notice the difference.

7 reasons to buy an Xbox Series X over a PlayStation 5.

Other considerationslike which gamepad people preferare entirely subjective. The PS5s new DualSense controllers are pretty cool, but battery life isnt as good as the Xbox Series X gamepad and theyre a little buggier in my experience.

So what differentiates these two systems the most? The games, of course. And you can make a compelling argument for both Xbox and PlayStation when it comes to games, though Id argue that historically Sony has done a better job. Thats all changing with the advent of Xbox Game Pass.

. These games are:

  • Flight Simulator July 27th
  • Back 4 Blood October 12th
  • Age Of Empires 4 October 28th
  • Forza Horizon 5 November 9th
  • Halo: Infinite TBD

Qual Tem O Melhor Controle

Which Is Better Ps5 Or Xbox Series X

Ps5 Vs Xbox Series X Price

Again, in the price department, you’re looking at similar numbers here.

PS5 Digital comes in at $399, the PS5 Standard Edition comes in at $499, and the Xbox Series X is $499.

Not too much in it, but when it comes to availability, we’d say the Xbox Series X tends to be easier to pin down.

As for whether either will reduce in price or go into the sales, that is yet to be seen, but we’d be very surprised if they did. The best way to save on these consoles is to go after bundle deals, where you can save money on extras, such as controllers or games.

Ps5 Vs Xbox Series X Controller

Microsoft decided to continue with their classic design, albeit one with a new share button, but fundamentally it’s the tried and tested Xbox controller.

The DualSense on the other hand is a bit of a beast and completely redesigned. It’s larger for one, which is a big plus on the previous dual shock controller for PS4, but it also features advanced haptic feedback too.

And now, there’s even the first of what we assume will be many third-party controllers for PS5, giving players a pro-gamepad for some of the most popular reflex-based titles out today.

The jury is still out as to whether we’ll see an Xbox Elite Series 3 controller, but we do have high hopes.

Ps5 Gpu Vs Xbox Series X Gpu So Who Wins

On paper then, the Xbox Series X is the clear winner, boasting superior compute power resulting in superior teraflop performance as a result. But as I hope youve been able to appreciate by now, Sony has a lot of intelligent design going on within the chassis of the PS5 that help to mitigate some of those disparities. Whether Sony can communicate such technological nuance to the masses at large, is another thing altogether unfortunately.
