Before the game even officially releases, it looks as though theres a new Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart PS5 bundle on the way.
With plenty of gamers still searching for their PS5, news of an upcoming Ratchet and Clank bundle is good news. However, we imagine these will be in short supply too if the leak turns out to be legitimate.
According to StationOfPlay on Twitter, theres a new Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart PS5 bundle coming very soon. Thanks to a listing on Boulanger, a French online retailer, we can see evidence of a new bundle launching in the near future.
From what we can tell, the Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart PS5 bundle is releasing on June 11, alongside the game itself. The bundle appears to include a physical copy of the upcoming release and it retails for around 569.99.

Unfortunately, the special bundle does not appear to come with a unique PS5 console, with just the base model and DualSense included. But we already know that a new PS5 redesign is coming in 2022!
Whats more, you can get a red, blue, or black PS5 already if you know where to look. And theres even a new Cosmic Red and Midnight Black DualSense to match your console.
Bear in mind, however, that the console bundle is yet to be announced by PlayStation, and isnt confirmed at this point in time.

What Is The Story In Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
The game’s story picks up after the events of Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus. At the start of the game, Ratchet and Clank are being celebrated for their heroism with a huge parade, but it’s interrupted by Dr. Nefarious, who steals the Dimensionator weapon. He intends to use it to open a portal to a world where he always wins. Ratchet and Clank are separated as they tumble through rifts in space, and Clank runs into Rivet, a new Lombax character. The pair aim to fix things while Ratchet tracks them down.

New Weapons And Gadgets
Its been promised that Ratchet and Clank will come equipped with a series of outrageous new weapons in their arsenal to help them in their mission, which will be music to the ears of longtime fans.
Weapons revealed so far are the Shatterbomb, which is an explosive weapon similar to the Fusion Grenade the Topiary Sprinkler, which is a glove that can plant small gun turrets that target and fire blasts of water at enemies, turning them into topiary that can be blown up and the Burst Pistol.
Even better, Insomniac has confirmed that Rift Apart will make the most of the DualSenses adaptive triggers, meaning each weapon will feel different. For example, a new double-barrel shotgun called The Enforcer will use tension to let players shoot either one or both barrels.

The reveal trailer for Rift Apart doesn’t detail a lot of story, but it does give a few hints as to what’s happening next. The game clearly takes place the furthest in the timeline seen yet, and as Clank states in the trailer, dimensions seem to be collapsing in on one another. In the gameplay clip shown Clank can be heard talking about how Dr. Nefarious has returned after all these years to try and take over the universe again. That means that Nefarious is likely the main villain of the series once again.
Of course, the big reveal is the female Lombax that Clank runs into at the end of the trailer, which means that Ratchet isn’t the sole surviving member of his race. Who this character is and what her role is remains to be seen.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is a PS5 exclusive, but as of now it doesn’t have a release date or even a window. Fans shouldn’t expect Rift Apart to be available at the PS5 launch in Holiday 2020, as Insomniac also has another game on the way. Spider-Man: Miles Morales, also announced during the PS5 event, launches Holiday 2020, and the studio’s efforts will most likely be on that for the near future. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart sees the iconic duo trying to chase down Dr. Nefarious through a series of cross-dimensional worlds, following an unfortunate incident with an dimensionator, which causes rifts to inter-dimensional rifts to open within worlds. Its in one of these other dimensions that we meet Rivet, a female Lombax and the second main playable protagonist of Rift Apart.
Rivets introduction is pretty seamless, she plays exactly like Ratchet, with even weapons, upgrades and armor being shared between the two, and so the only key difference from playing as Ratchet is Rivets personality which is considerably more hardened than Ratchets.
The dimensional and protagonist split in Rift Apart keeps things fresh, but at times can make the storyline feel a bit staggered. As you progress, youre continually offered two levels to pick from one where Rivet takes center stage and one where Ratchet does but it means that youre constantly jumping between the two and cant entirely grasp onto one story arch wholeheartedly. That being said, everything does converge quite neatly eventually. Once you find your footing with the story, which in theory isnt particularly hard to grasp, youre golden.

Ratchet and Clanks next big adventure is a canonical continuation of 2013s Into The Nexus. It follows our titular heroes as they go dimension-hopping to take on an evil robotic emperor from another reality as he attempts to exterminate all organic life across the universe. Sounds exciting, right?
Perhaps even more intriguing, though, is the addition of a new female Lombax resistance fighter. Rivet still remains somewhat shrouded in mystery, but players will be able to take control of her in the game, suggesting shell play an important part in the story.
