Where To Buy Ps5 In Canada
Though Amazon Canada doesn’t appear to restrict PS5 sales to Prime members, it seems like a long time since the console was available to buy. We’d suggest keeping an eye on that product description in case it’s updated with any information about exclusive early access for Amazon Prime members as that’s helped nail down restock dates in other regions.
Walmart has a PS5 restock landing page that delivers regular updates on the console’s availability. More often than not it states that the PS5 is unavailable but points you towards Walmart Canada on Twitter to get the most up to date news.
As well as online, Best Buy encourages you to check local stores for any availability of PS5 consoles. Sometimes the console store pages are updated with a notice that says ‘Coming Soon’ but that doesn’t give a clear or specific indication of when the PS5 will be available to buy. Just continue to check in regularly to avoid missing out.
GameStop currently only offers either the PS5 or PS5 Digital Edition as part of a bundle and these change all the time. Our advice? Check in regularly for updates on when the next set of PS5 bundles will be available to buy and what you can find in each one.
From 15 September 2022
- PS5 – ¥60,478 yen
- PS5 Digital Edition – ¥49,478 yen
As stated above, the US is currently exempt from any price rise. For everyone else who has so far found it difficult to get hold of a PlayStation 5 console due to stock shortages, they’ll have to dig a little deeper when one finally does become available to buy.
The PS5 is finally here – these are the games you simply need to pick up for it.

Michael Pachter Strikes Again
If youve been a long time reader here on PS5 Gamers, then you know we like to cover industry analyst Michael Pachters predictions as they are both relevant and interesting. Hes not always right, but he comes pretty close more often than not.
The latest news from him is a in June 2019 where he laid down some interesting predictions for Project Scarlett and PS5s price point:
The specs suggest $500 or so, but my bias is that Microsoft will announce $399 and Sony will follow suit.
I would love to see $399, but I find it hard to believe the new systems will go for that low. Its common knowledge that console manufacturers sell systems at a loss in the beginning. They reap the benefits later on when people buy accessories and games.
Even so, with the specs we are hearing about $399 would be a substantial loss. In Microsofts case, if the rumors are true about two consoles at launch , then we could have a base model for $399 and the enhanced for $499 or more, but nothing in the wind points to Sony have multiple consoles at launch.
Read on to learn more about the other hints weve seen on the PS5 price.

Ps5 Price: Sony Reveals How Much Its Next
During the September 16 PlayStation Showcase, Sony confirmed the prices of the PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition.
The long wait is finally over. During September 16’s PlayStation 5 Showcase, Sony Interactive Entertainment finally confirmed the prices for both the PS5 and the PS5 Digital Edition alongside the release date and pre-order date reveal. The prices aren’t all that surprising, but fans can take solace in the fact that the game of chicken Microsft and Sony had for revealing their consoles’ prices is finally over.
Where To Buy The Playstation 5
The PS5 has now been on sale for almost two years including two holiday seasons but its sadly just as difficult to buy as ever, and depending on where you live it might even cost more than it used to thanks to a recent price hike.
The console has been almost impossible to buy ever since launch, though its slowly getting easier to find. While stock still sells out faster than retailers can supply it, its also re-appearing faster than ever.
The big question now is whether the PS5 will become readily available some time in 2022. Re-stocks are expected between now and the end of the year, but theyre likely to be sporadic, so youll still have to be alert if you hope to buy a console for the next few months.
Were listing all the retailers offering the new console, along with pricing and availability well be doing our best to keep up to date as new stock comes in so stay tuned, and for more on the console, take a look at our PS5 review.

Do We Even Need A Ps5 Pro
Technically, no, but in two or three years’ time, we might see developers encounter more hurdles due to the PS5s aging hardware that results in noticeable compromises in games, like lower frame rates or resolutions. A PS5 Pro could revitalize a lot of older games if they get enhanced as we saw on PS4 Pro, and the additional horsepower should ensure that newer titles arent held back, either.
Should I Buy A Ps5 Today
The PS5 is still hard to find at a moment’s notice so if you’ve got your eye on one for the near future or as a gift for someone soon then our suggestion is to buy it as soon as possible – especially if you’re in the US.
While PS5 restocks are certainly more frequent this year, the console still doesn’t stay available for very long and it’s best to get one while you can rather than missing out on the opportunity. We definitely want to emphasise this for those in the US as PS5 restocks still sell out in a matter of minutes at most retailers there. Restricting sales to specific retailer membership programs has helped to curb the scalpers but it still requires speed, timing and a bit of luck to buy a console.
However, if you’re in no rush and would perhaps prefer to wait for any PS5 bundle deals then you can hold off for now. It might not be some time until the discounts you’re looking for are available in stores but who knows what the situation might look like in the upcoming Memorial Day sales or closer to Black Friday.

Ps5 Price: How Much Will The Playstation 5 Cost
Currently, Sony has not officially announced a price for the PlayStation 5. While there was a special hardware reveal in which the console’s design was shown off for the first time, no detailed release information was offered.
There were two models revealed, with a Standard Edition that includes an optical 4K Blu-ray disc drive in addition to an 825GB solid state drive. The Digital Edition, presumably cheaper, ships without the drive and will likely cost less because of this omission.
When there is an official MSRP for the PlayStation 5 out in the open, we’ll be sure to update this page with all the details on how much both systems will cost.
Is It Possible To Make A Ps5
Now, as you might have guessed, following the above guidelines will get you a PCthat matches the performance of a PS5, but it wont be the same thing. Yes, you can get a compact case and even use the DualSense controller for a more console-like experience. However, you wont be able to run PS5 exclusive games, nor will you have access to PlayStation Plus features.
The reasons behind this relate to hardware, software, and game deployment limitations. Moreover, building a system that resembles the PS5 will cost you quite a lot and probably wont be worth it in the end.

The True Cost Of The Ps: $1044/964 For The Standard Ps5 $944/874 For The Ps5 Digital Edition
When all the peripherals, games, and near-essential extras are taken into account youll be looking at parting with at least $944/£874 for the PS5 Digital Edition, and up to $1,044/£964 for the standard PS5. Thats quite a large amount of money for a gaming machine thats locked into a single ecosystem.
For that amount of money, you can build a decent gaming PC, though youll need to shop around. And PC games are considerably cheaper, with PC gaming offering an enormous amount to play from cutting-edge titles to obscure indie creations to games from decades ago.
But if you want to game at 4K, or at least at dynamic resolutions that scale up to 4K, youll need to spend a fair bit more on a gaming PC. So despite our calculations, the PS5 is still surprisingly good value.
Of course, getting a PS5 right now is extremely difficult as the console has been selling out across the globe. But wait until 2021 when the demand has evened out a bit and you could land yourself a bargain bundle, as well as have a larger selection of games to choose from we believe 2021 is going to be the year of the PS5.

How Much Is Too Much
Companies like Sony need to make money, but theres also a maximum amount that people are willing to spend on a game console. Its a careful balance, but if we turn to episode 82 of the Pachter Factor, which you can watch below, Michael Pachter explains that Sony and Microsoft dont make much money at all on console sales.
The real profits come from software sales. Sony takes a percentage of the sales for every game you buy on the PS4 or PS4 Pro. This consistent revenue stream is where they make money. For them, it makes more sense to lose a little on the console and reap the rewards of a larger player base.
This is also why iterative consoles like PS4 Pro and Xbox One X make sense from a business standpoint. As Pachter explains in the video , these consoles encourage people to trade in their old systems at stores like GameStop.
GameStop then sells them an upgraded console. After that, they turn around and sell your old used console to someone else. In this way, Microsoft just earned a new Xbox gamer who will purchase games for their Xbox One.
Given this, Sony doesnt need to charge a bunch for the PS5. They simply need to minimize their losses and maximize the number of people who own the console and purchase games for it. For this reason, it woudnt be smart to charge $599 or more for the PS5.
Why that number, you ask?
Tips For Buying The Ps5
Buying the PlayStation 5 has been a struggle since release, but retailers have been making a steady stream of consoles available. If you have a preferred store, you should look into setting stock alerts with their online tools.
Retailers with membership plans like Walmart, Best Buy, GameStop, , and the PlayStation Direct store sometimes offer subscribers email invitations, waitlist access, or restock alerts to purchase PS5 consoles when available. If you’re on the hunt for a PS5, you’ll have a better chance snagging one from the retailer of your choice if you sign up for their membership program.
Third-party stock-tracking websites like HotStock.io can tell you when a store last had the PlayStation 5 in stock and let you set alerts for multiple retailers. A reseller who made more than $40,000 reselling PS5 consoles in 2020 shared more specific tips on how to find the console online.
If you encounter issues while trying to check out with an online retailer, keep trying to refresh the product page to add the console and make sure the PS5 is available and in your cart. If possible, create an account with your preferred retailer and enter your payment and shipping information in advance to help the checkout process move quickly.

Covid Changing Gaming Habits
The coronavirus pandemic has changed so many aspects of our lives.
One of the lesser discussed things that have changed during the course of the pandemic is how people play video games.
This is going to have a major impact on the cost of gaming consoles and accessories.
With more people entering the market, there is going to be a higher demand for gaming gear.
This is naturally going to drive up the cost and the scarcity of the latest models being released by the big three console gaming companies.
Just as weve seen Nintendo Switch consoles sell out time and time again during the covid pandemic, were also seeing PlayStation 5 consoles sell out just as quickly.
This is also driving up the cost of these consoles.
With so many people looking to purchase a PlayStation 5 for themselves, their children, or other people in their lives, retailers know that they can charge a premium for the PS5 and still get buyers coming in the door by the dozens.
Theres been another big change in who buys PlayStation 5 consoles during the covid-19 pandemic.
We need to talk about how scalping affects prices.
Increased Quality Of Games Requiring Increased Memory
Video game graphics are more beautiful and detailed and realistic than ever before. With those drastically increased details comes a higher requirement for memory to hold them and render them in a timely manner. Not to mention all the other features and capabilities that come along as technology gets better.
One single PS5 game can take more than 50GB of memory to properly install. Because the cost of solid-state memory has also risen over the years, the memory capabilities needed for the PS5 were another factor that increased their costs.
Even with all the memory, the console comes loaded with, there may be a need for more for players who use a lot of the highest-quality games.

Why Is Playstation 5 So Expensive
The PlayStation 5 is one of the most expensive gaming consoles weve seen in years.
These consoles are also out of stock almost everywhere online.
If you do manage to find a PS5 for sale, its going to be marked up by resellers.
There have been PlayStation 5s that have sold for well over $1,000.
In fact, this rush for PS5s has even driven the PS4 back up to prices it hasnt seen since its release.
Lets take a look at whats driving these prices so high and how you can get a PS5 for its retail cost.
Ps5 Price: Can You Preorder The Playstation 5
Currently, there are no retailers carrying either version of the PlayStation 5 for preorder right now. Previously, the import website Play-Asia made various versions of the PS5 available for purchase at $699.99 with additional DualSense controllers at $79.99.
Since making the listings available, the consoles have sold out and have since been removed from the store page. While it’s likely these links were meant to act as placeholders, it’s quite possible the console could end up going for this price.
We will continue to update this page with preorder links as they go live following any official directives from Sony. In the meantime, you can rest assured that all PlayStation 4 compatible Arctis headsets are next-gen compatible with PlayStation 5!

This Is The Most Expensive Ps5
The PlayStation 5 launches Nov. 12 for $499 and $399 , but there is another premium option for those with some extra cash. After the pre-order fiasco, PlayStation 5 consoles are out of stock at retailers like Target, GameStop, and Walmart. There is still hope a costly hope for PlayStation fans who want to secure their console, however. This premium PlayStation 5 is not one of those outrageously priced models being hawked on eBay. The UK based luxury brand Truly Exquisite can take credit for this one.
Truly Exquisite’s version of the PlayStation 5 is even more expansive than other limited edition consoles of recent memory. Despite this, Truly Exquisite is very confident in its product. Its website proclaims that “the long awaited and much anticipated Playstation 5 just got even better!” The reasoning for this claim and high price point? It’s 24 karat gold.
