The PS5 has a fairly standard array of ports, complete with some welcome modern conveniences. You get a Hi-Speed USB Type-A port up front, as well as a USB Type-C SuperSpeed port. Its nice to see a console finally feature USB-C connectivity out of the box, especially for connecting modern accessories and storage drives.
In the back, youll find two SuperSpeed USB-A ports, an Ethernet jack, an HDMI 2.1 port and an AC adapter. The PS5 has ditched the PS4s optical audio port, which may be a bummer for folks with high-end audio devices with optical connections. However, some companies are already offering optical-to-HDMI splitters, such as Astro with its Astro A20 headset.
If you want to expand on the PS5s built-in 825GB of SSD storage, theres a PCIe 4.0 M.2 expansion slot that you can access by opening up the console. Note that youll have to use certain PS5-certified SSDs that meet Sonys bandwidth requirements, such as the Western Digital SN850. These drives won’t be supported until sometime after launch.;
Update : A PS5 beta firmware update has unlocked the expansion slot. We upgraded our PS5’s SSD, and had some excellent results.
The PS5 also works with standard external hard drives, but only for carrying over your digital PS4 games or save files. ;

The PS5 is more expensive than the launch price of the PS4 and PS4 Pro, which both came in at $399.99, but they arrived seven and four years ago respectively now, and you’re getting a generational leap in hardware here for $100 more. The PS5 is still expensive, don’t get us wrong, but the jump in price does feel warranted for what youre getting.;

At a certainly point, its possible Sony may just be flat out of stock for PS5s for the rest of the holiday season. I know theyve kept some in reserve for launch, but they are going to be hard limited by supply at a certain point, as pre-orders are wildly outpacing their expectations and what we saw for the PS4. Add in pandemic concerns about production and it very well might be the case that some people will not be able to get a console until next year. Ps5 Restock Latest News And Rumors
Jake Randall, a YouTuber and reliable stock tracker, was tipping Target for a restock this week. This proven to be a very good call as the retailer restocked the console earlier today . Unfortunately, the console is now sold out once again.;
A GameStop PS5 restock was also being tipped for this week. This information came from a slightly dubious Reddit source, but the user in question did provide some evidence to back up their claims. It’s worth keeping a close eye on GameStop just in case this untested source proves to be legitimate but at this point in the week, it’s looking less likely.;
Elsewhere, there is the possibility that Best Buy could restock soon as it hasn’t restocked in more than a month, but nothing is confirmed yet. Amazon could also drop again although the retailer did restock last week so another restock so soon afterward is unlikely.;
In frustrating restock-related news, Sony has confirmed that supply of the PS5 isn’t expected to get any better this year. This would mean restock shortages continuing into 2022. Fear not, however, we’ll be here every day tracking restocks until the console is available without issue.;

There are plenty of amazing games on the PS5 right now and there will only be more coming as the year goes on. As for the best PS5 games you can get, we recommend titles like Demon’s Souls and Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Both make the most of the console’s graphics and performance boosts compared to its predecessor, and in Demon’s Souls’ case in particular, the remake is immaculate. When it comes to Spider-Man, Insomniac knocked it out of the park once again, creating not only a great superhero tale but a great story for Miles as a person, too.
There are also some kid-friendly games like Sackboy: A Big Adventure and Bugsnax that have charmed a lot of people with their cute styles and fun gameplay. You can’t get either of these on an Xbox yet, so PS5 is the way to go if you want to play them.
Over the next few years, Sony’s also committed to releasing games like God of War: Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, Spider-Man 2, Marvel’s Wolverine, and a Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake. There’s plenty to look forward to on PlayStation 5. While some of these will be cross-gen and release on PS4 as well, they’re certainly play best on Sony’s newest machine.

Update: The Target PS5 restock was this past Friday at 7:37am EDT, and if you missed it, youre not alone. It was a small inventory drop, and only a few of our followers got it, as youre buying online, but selecting a local store when making the purchase for a later in-store pickup.
Target PS5 restock time: While Target has shifted its PlayStation 5 restock day of the week previously, the time is consistent: in 2021, its always been 7am EDT to 8am EDT, with one exception: last week was a little outside that window at 8:14am EDT. Dont pass up PS5 Disc, which is almost always in stock first for PS5 Digital, which often goes in stock second, as PS5 Digital stock is extremely low.

PS5 is upon us, although most stores have extremely limited stock, so act fast at these retailers.
We’re well into September and buying a PS5 in Australia is still super hard. It’s probably not going to get better this month, but the best you can do is keep trying: While stock allocations are rare they do happen, so you’ll need to stay vigilant, as stock is likely to remain low for the rest of 2021. When stock does appear, it tends not to last long, though we have our fingers crossed there will be a bit of a megadrop in the lead up to Christmas.
So yeah, PS5 stock replenishment is a fairly scattershot affair in Australia. Some retailers have been known to provide a few days advance notice, such as what Big W did in February , but more often than not they just appear. If there’s a local bricks-and-mortar store near you, it might be worth joining their waiting list, if they have one.
But the sad reality is that you’ll probably need to check the PS5 pages on each retailer’s site manually if you want a console right now: all relevant retailers are listed below. We’ll also update the top of this page occasionally when we get advance warning of a drop.

Ps5 Review: Heat And Noise
Thanks to its massive internal fan and large vents along the inside of the chassis, the PS5 stayed cool and mostly quiet during my time with it. I rarely noticed any noise coming out of the console, even as I spent hours exploring Astros Playroom or webbing up crooks in Spider-Man. I did notice some rare moments of audible noise when running Star Wars Battlefront II, and could hear discs spinning pretty loudly when I first put Blu-rays in the machine. But compared to the jet-engine-like noises that come out of my PS4 when simply downloading a game, the PS5 is blissfully quiet.;
Ps5: When And Where Can I Buy It
As you may have noticed , most aspects of 2020 have been disrupted by a coronavirus pandemic. Despite positive news about progress being made on vaccines, there’s a while to go before life returns to normality and Sony are still looking to protect people as much as possible. They have, therefore,;confirmed that all launch sales of the PS5 will be online only. Those of you in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Mexico, and South Korea will see the console launch on 12 November, while the rest of the world will have to wait until 19 November.

In the interest of keeping our gamers, retailers, and staff safe amidst covid-19, today we are confirming that all day-of launch sales will be conducted through the online stores of our retail partners.
